1 News Student evelopment RESIDENTIAL LIFE We have just finished interviewing for RA positions for the 2014/15 academic year. We had a fantastic pool of candidates and the decisions were tough. We are excited about the creativity and thoughtfulness of each candidate and are proud of the way they want to give back to Dickinson State University by offering help to their fellow students. We are also gearing up for 2014/15 Room Reassignment to be held April 9th and 10th. Informational letters will go out early next week to get students thinking about where and with whom they would like to live. WOODS HALL Woods Hall is having a Jeopardy with a Twist program on March 25th at 7pm. This program supports our scholarship value focus for the month of March. Earlier this month we held a program and played a game called Knokkers. It is a combination of Pool and Bowling. We have the equipment available to check Who wouldn t want to play? Check out out anytime! the equipment at Woods Hall. Join the Wellness Program for the Dye Running Fun Run/Walk on April 26th. Please follow this link for registration and race day information. All proceeds will benefit Trinity High School and the Random Acts charity. During the month of April the Wellness Program will be doing random acts of kindness on campus and throughout the town of Dickinson. If you are interested in either of these events, please contact Dara Anderson or Renee Baker at WELLNESS National Nutrition Month is held annually during the month of March. The theme for March 2014 is Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right. According to consumer research taste is the number one reason why one food is purchased over another. While social, emotional and health factors play a role in the foods people choose, people eat the foods they enjoy the most. We eat foods that taste good. The focus of National Nutrition Month 2014 is to focus on how to combine good taste with good nutrition to create healthy meals that follow the Dietary Guidelines recommendations. Many of you have asked us to bring back the Cook and Be Well project. Considering the focus of National Nutrition Month 2014, it seems like March 2014 is the perfect time to do just that. Watch for a weekly menu plan in your . We also want to invite you to join us for Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 pm in the Loft Studio. Here is to your health!

2 ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTER The time of year for Senior Exit Exams is upon us! All students receiving a bachelor s degree are required to take an exit exam. All of the exams will be held in Murphy Hall computer lab 160. Please see page 4 for more information and contact Flora Cho for any further questions hyunjung.cho@dickinsonstate.edu DeLong Hall On March 29 th DeLong will be hosting a Mock-tail party to educate residents about the consequences of excessive/underage drinking. We will also be hosting an NCAA bracket challenge starting at the Sweet 16. Watch for further details. Selke Hall Selke Hall will be hosting a Call of Duty tournament on March 27th at 7:30pm. To recover from sitting in front of the T.V. during the tournament, join in the Wii Fit Program on March 31 st at 9:00pm. Career Development Center The Career Development Center and Job Service ND are collaborating this year to bring the 2014 Job Fair on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Biesiot Activities Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students to meet prospective employers. The schedule for the 2014 Job Fair is as follows: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Doors Open 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Veteran s Preference (DD-214 Required for Admission) 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. DSU Students and Alumni (DSU Student ID Required for Admission) 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Open to the general public Winner of the Career Development Center Résumé Contest will be announced at the 2014 Job Fair! (The list of participating employers is on the last page of this newsletter) Interesting DSU fact The first Homecoming was held on campus Saturday, Oct. 13, 1928 and featured a parade, football game, barbecue, bonfire and dance. Medora rancher J.W. Nuens roasted an ox and served hundreds in attendance while students and alumni danced until late in the evening accompanied by a five-piece orchestra. Campus Programming Campus Activities Board has been working hard this semester to bring you some great events. This month has been filled with Mini Golf, Dr. Eric Grabowsky as part of our Faculty Lecture Series and Girls Night Out. Later this month the pool will be open, Frozen will be showing, and we will be playing Laser Tag. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On April 22 Student Development will be hosting a sexual assault training session. Please watch for details. The committees for Homecoming, SOAR, Orientation and Campus Activities Board are busy planning big things for next fall!
