2 Welcome to the Fellowship Place Program Calendar! Fellowship Place helps adults who have a mental illness lead more meaningful, fulfilling and healthy lives by offering resources, education and opportunities. Fellowship Place Main Number: (203) ext for the Clubhouse Website: Fellowship Place Clubhouse hours: Monday Tuesday-Friday Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 9:00AM-8:00PM 9:00AM-6:00PM 10:00AM-1:30 PM GUIDELINES AND GENERAL INFORMATION HEALTHY MEAL INITIATIVE Fellowship provides our members with free daily meals to promote a healthy, balanced life and diet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday through Friday and lunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. Signing up for Lunch and Dinner is required Monday through Friday. No reservations are needed for meals on the weekend. Please sign up for Lunch by 10 am and for Dinner by 12pm, Monday-Friday. Members without a reservation may purchase a meal for $2.00 if food is available. Member donations are appreciated to help with the cost of the healthy meals program. Members can now call and leave a voic message with their meal reservation at (203) WELCOME DESK The welcome desk is the first stop when entering Fellowship in order to sign in and learn about the day s activities by picking up a copy of The Daily Focus. Upcoming Special Events Mental Health Awareness Week In celebration of Mental Health Week, Fellowship Place is hosting the Annual Friends and Family Picnic on Monday October 5 th from 4:30pm-6:30pm Volunteers from Yale Chaplains Office will Provide A Special Meal Friday October 9 th & Friday November 13 th at 4:30pm South Central Peer Services Wednesday October am Ivette Alpireri will be here to announce the start of this year s Consumer Initiative Grant applications. If you are interested in applying for a grant, please attend the meeting! 2
3 City Wide Open Studios Art Show Saturday October 10 th and Sunday October 11 th from 12pm-6pm at the New Haven Armory Attend the art show, support your fellow members in their efforts to display and sell art and also view the art of other talented artists! Hip Hop Non-Stop Presentation Wednesday October 21 Eric Carver, LCSW will be at Fellowship Place to speak about the history and culture of Hip Hop Apple Picking at Drazen Orchard Tuesday October am If you enjoy spending time outside in the fall and love delicious fresh apples, sign up to go Apple Picking!! If possible bring $10.00 so you can come home with a bag of your own. Fellowship Place Health Fair Wednesday November 11 th from 9:30am-11:30am Fellowship Place will be hosting a health fair in the main clubhouse. Representatives from many local organizations will be present to provide information and resources. Flu shots, diabetes, and blood pressure screenings will be provided free of charge. Mammography Services for Women Tuesday November 24th from 8:30am -2:30pm Yale Mobile Mammography Van will be at Fellowship Place to provide mammography testing for female members. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please see Wanda Gomez in her office or call (203) ext Thanksgiving Luncheon Tuesday November 12:00pm Fellowship Place will celebrate Thanksgiving with an agency- wide luncheon. It will be an afternoon filled with a great feast and fun. The Music Makers and the Fellowship Place Band will perform. Holiday Arts and Crafts Monday November 30 th from 6:00pm-7:30pm Hosted by The Women s Group from the First & Summerfield church. Come and learn a new craft and leave with a one of a kind item that you can keep or give as a holiday gift. In House Art Show Tuesdays at 1pm in the Art Studio View the art of a Fellowship Artist! Snacks and refreshments will be provided! The art shows will be on the following dates: 11/10/ /15/2015 3
4 Food Film Series 1x per month on Wednesday 2:00-3:30pm in Large McDowell Would you like to be part of Fellowship Place s Healthy Eating Initiative? Come join us for our Food Film Series and lean about nutrition and creating a healthier lifestyle. Healthy snacks will be provided! The films will be shown on the following dates: 10/14/ /11/ /9/2015 Zumba Tuesdays from 10am-11am Come join a Zumba Instructor in a very fun workout in efforts to make your body healthy for the Fall and Winter! Attend on the following dates: 10/6/ /20/ /3/ /17/ /8/ /22/2015 Infinity Music Therapy Wednesdays from 11-12pm The therapist at Infinity Music Therapy believe in a creative and innovative approach to therapy that reaches beyond the therapeutic use of instruments and going to include other sensory based mediums, visual aids, and more to encourage active participation and growth. Join them on the following dates: 10/7/ /4/ /2/2015 Dealing with Holiday Blues Monday December 7 10 am Bailey Orell and Fellowship Inn Intern, Samantha Torello will be speaking about dealing with the Holiday Blues. If you are feeling down, sad or sluggish during this very chilly time of year, come listen to some tips and tricks about how to deal with the managing big feelings during this holiday season. Holiday Luncheon Tuesday December 22 Come and celebrate Fellowship Place style at an agency-wide party celebrating the holiday you observe. It will be an afternoon sure to be filled with great food and friends. The Music makers and the Fellowship Place Band will entertain. 4

Newcomers Group 3pm in Hald 1 STARTING 10/7/15 If you are a new member and would like to know more about how the Social Rehab Program can help you, please attend the Newcomers Group run by Charlotte and Mark G, Member Government President. Grieving Group 3:30 in McDowell STARTING 10/12/15 Everyone experiences loss at some point in their life and processing this big emotion can be healing. If you are interested in speaking about such experiences, join Pam in the Grieving group. Current Learning Opportunities at Fellowship Career Development Workshops and Activities Basic Computer Classes Classes are taught by Literacy Volunteer computer teachers. Classes include learning computer basics, keyboarding, creating a word document, and setting up an address. Registration required. See your staff advisor to sign up. Classes to take place on: Mondays 10:00-12:00 Computer Center Career Exploration Not sure about what kind of jobs you might be good at? Come to this workshop and explore how your skills, strengths, your previous work experience, and the subjects you good at in school can all provide clues to the kinds of jobs that you might enjoy and also be good at! Employment Specialist Tarin Evans will be leading you through this workshop on the following Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 in the Computer Learning Center. Wednesday 10/7, 10/28, 11/11, 11/25,12/16, and12/30 Education Support Group Come meet with other peers who are attending school for camaraderie, support, and a meal. 6 Financial Literacy Workshop Learn more about how to manage your money. These workshops taught by Career Development staff will take place on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00 in the Inn. Tuesday 10/1: Tuesday 10/8: Tuesday 10/15: Tuesday 10/22: Tuesday 10/29: Tuesday 11/5: Financial Self-Assessment Budgeting and Goal Setting Introduction to Checking and Savings Accounts Borrowing Basics Understanding Your Credit Report and Credit Score Financial Safety: Avoiding Scams, Protecting Your Identity, and Gambling in Spite of the Odds GED Classes Classes are taught by New Haven Adult Education GED teachers. It is open to anyone who does not have a high school diploma or GED already. See Sandi Sibilio for more information. Getting Ready for Work Workshops These workshops are designed to give job seekers the skills necessary to find and keep a job. See Miranda Mast in the Career Development Office for more details. All workshops take place on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. October 14 th : Time Management Hald 2 November 4 th : Making a Good Impression Hald 2 November 25 th : Getting a Job! Hald 2 December 16 th : Getting a Along with Co-Workers Hald 2 Graduate Club Events The Graduate Club is a peer run program led by Judy Trussell for members who have been doing well in work or school and who have graduated from Fellowship Supported Employment or Supported Education Programs. Members of the Graduate Club can participate in activities in the community while making friends with others who are in a similar place in their recovery. All group activities meet and leave from the Clubhouse Main Room. To see if you are eligible for the Graduate Club, or for more information about the group outing listed below, see Peer Specialist Judy Trussell. Tuesday 10/20: Criterion Cinema from 12:15 to 3:30. New Haven Reads/Book bank The Supported Education Program is hosting two outings to New Haven Reads, a book bank that has hundreds of books to be given out to anyone interested. Career Development Peer Specialist Judy Trussell will take the first 6 people to sign up to New Haven Reads. See Judy for more information. Thursday 10/8 and 11/12: Leave the Main Clubhouse Room at 1:00 6
7 Paul Mitchell s Look Your Best!! Once a month Career Staff will be taking people who are in Fellowship s Supported Employment or Supported Education Programs to Paul Mitchell s for a haircut and/or a hair treatment. See your Employment or Education Specialist to sign up. Volunteer Workshop Volunteering is a wonderful way to get work experience, build up your resume, meet new people, and contribute to your community. Come and meet with Career Development staff to find out about volunteer opportunities in the New Haven community. Thursday 10/1: 1:30-2:30 Admin 6 Volunteering in the Community Yale Sustainable Agriculture Join Peer Specialist Judy Trussell in a volunteer group outing to Yale Sustainable Agriculture to volunteer to plant, harvest, and clean up the gardens. No gardening experience necessary. The group leaves Fellowship Place at 12:45 and will return to Fellowship at 3:00. Please see Judy for more information and to sign up in advance for the following Yale Sustainable Agriculture Group Volunteer outings: 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9, and 12/16 Special Events The Annual Career Development Celebration will take place on Tuesday October 13 th at 11:00 in the Clubhouse Main Room. Come join us to celebrate individuals who have achieved career goals such as getting a job, getting a promotion or raise, completing an internship, volunteering in the community, making the dean s list, completing a semester, graduating from school, or other successes related to achieving career goals. Young Adults The Young Adult Program at Fellowship Place offers a unique space for young people, ages 18 to 25, with mental illness to gather, socialize and learn the skills necessary to be successful in adulthood. 10 Young Adult Graduate Club Fellowship Place offers a unique Young Adult Graduate Club for members ages This once a month group goes on off-campus outings and allows for the connections formed in our Young Adults program to continue throughout adulthood. This group meets the first Wednesday of each month; any members interested in participating must sign-up in advance using the sign-up sheet on Naomi and Tom s office door.
