1 Sattler Christian College From The Principal End of Year Events The end of the year is rushing towards us! There are a number of special events happening over the next few weeks that will help us celebrate the year we have enjoyed. The special events include: Year 9 Graduation Dinner (Friday 27 th Nov) Middle School Production (Thursday 3 rd Nov and Friday 4 th Dec) Rural Community Carols by Candlelight (Saturday 5 th Dec) ELC and Primary School Celebration Service (Wednesday 9 th Dec) Term 4 Week 7 In this newsletter: Principal s Message School Council Orientation Morning Middle School Production After School Care 2016 Celebration Service Carols by Candlelight Term 4 Calendar Principal Allan Long Ph Fax Sattler Crescent Bees Creek P.O Box 1138 Coolalinga NT admin.scc@ntschools.net The Year 9 Graduation Dinner is a fairly private affair. The event marks a significant milestone for these students as they finish up at Sattler and proceed on to senior secondary education elsewhere. We are really pleased that an increasing majority of our Year 9 graduates are moving on to our sister school, Marrara Christian College. The evening begins at the school with a photo shoot opportunity involving Year 9 students, their families and staff. This also includes some speeches from staff about the students, and reflections by students and parents about their time at Sattler. It is always very heart-warming to hear the words of appreciation expressed by students and parents, and it is a great opportunity to offer the students words of encouragement and to pray for each of them as they move on from Sattler. In some cases this event also marks the end of our partnership with some families as the last of their children finish up at Sattler. This is therefore both a time of sadness and celebration. The students and staff then head off to the city to enjoy a meal together at a restaurant, and this symbolically also points to the stepping out phase that the students are on the cusp of. The Middle School Production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be a great event and a wonderful culmination for the Middle School. This year we have spread the lead roles across two casts and both evening performances will be open to the whole community. At the end of each performance there will be some reflections on the Middle School year and acknowledgement of outstanding student achievements. However, as with the production itself, the awards section is really about affirming the participation and efforts of all students while at the same time appreciating the diverse talents that God has given us. Our school choir is again singing at the Rural Community Carols by Candlelight at Bees Creek Primary School. We believe that they will be singing right at the start of the evening this year. Congratulations to the choir for all their hard work and many thanks to Mrs Sykes for her enthusiastic leadership of the choir over the past two years. I am pleased to be able to advise that next year Mrs Leslie will take on the choir as Mrs Sykes takes maternity leave. Mrs O Hagan (alias Kimberly Koole) will again feature at the carols evening. The ELC and Primary School Celebration Service is happening at the Palmerston cinemas again. The evening includes performances by each class, some entertaining video clips, and a range of different awards acknowledging the extra effort, achievements and contributions by students. It is also a time when we reflect on God s faithfulness, express our appreciation for his care of us this year, and remember the amazing story of Christmas which highlights the depth of his love for us. As you get involved in some of the above events, may they serve to assist you and your family to count your blessings, and to look to the future with hope and confidence in Jesus our saviour. 3 Enrolments for 2016 Please ensure that if your plans change that you notify the school as soon as possible, we do require a term s notice if you are taking your child out of the school. Under the NT Christian Schools conditions of enrolment a term s notice is required in writing when families chose to cease their children s enrolment at the school. The requirement of a term s notice is very important for careful planning of class sizes and to avoid disappointing other families interested in positions at the school. If less than 10 week s notice is given the policy requires that a term s fees will be charged in lieu of sufficient notice. Please also encourage any friends you know with school age children to consider Sattler for their children s education. Share with them about strengths and disticnctives of Sattler as a small and nurturing school community. For any enquiries please contact Kathleen in the Front Office or on or kathleen.higgins@ntschools.net. SATTLER CHRISTIAN COLLEGE WHOLE SCHOOL ORIENTATION MORNING All students across the school will have the opportunity to spend time in their 2015 year levels and meet new students. Page 3 SCC 2015
