Join 4-H this December for the annual Winter Workshop Saturday, Dec. 5 th 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Kendall County Extension Office 7775B IL Route 47 Yorkville IL This youth workshop includes multiple fun, skill-building stations, led by the 4-H Federation teen group. Designed for ages 8 to 18, each participant can: Craft snowmen decorations Solder a 4-H Blinky Badge Bake and decorate gingerbread cookies Construct a wooden tree decoration Give back by creating watercolor cards for a community service project Registration opens online Nov. 3 rd $30 per participant. TEST YOUR ENGINEERING & DESIGN SKILLS & D Join us on Saturday, Jan. 9th for the 2016 Bridge Busting Competition sponsored by Fox Valley Family YMCA, Rural King of Plano, and 4-H This fun and challenging competition tests your bridgebuilding prowess, and encourages math, engineering and design skills! Bridges will be judged on both structural strength and aesthetics. Team categories include: Youth teams (ages 10 and up) Family teams including adults School teams (5th to 12th grade) Teams must have a minimum of 2 members. Youth participating in any category should be age 10 or older. Nov Nov Registration Contest packets will be available for pick-up Nov Packets include: contest rules, general information about bridge busting and project supplies. Until Jan. 8 As a team, design and build your bridge at home or at school. Jan. 9 Competition day begins promptly at 8 a.m. at the Fox Valley YMCA on Eldamain Road in Plano, just west of the Yorkville/Plano border. River St., Batavia Through this 4-H special interest (SPIN) club, you can participate in outdoor adventures while learning about plants, birds, soils, and stream ecology in our local natural environment. Plus, you ll be helping collect data for researchers through programs such as E-Bird, Bud Burst & Forest Fungi. Do you want to learn about dog training and keeping your pet happy? The Canine Connection 4-H Dog Club is for you! This multi-week program features information on dog behavior, care, feeding, dog breeds, sports, careers and more. Members will learn to be better trainers through fun, hands-on activities. Curriculum fits 4-H Dog Project activities, Boy Scout Dog Care Merit Badge Requirements and Girl Scout Animal Helpers Badge requirements. Leaders are volunteers from Lyons Township Dog Training Club.
