1 About Us Children s Mercy Critical Care Transport in Kansas City, Missouri is a dedicated pediatric and neonatal critical care transport team, and the winner of the 2007 Transport Program of the Year (sponsored by the Association of Air Medical Services). Our team has been designed to bridge the gap between Children s Mercy Hospital and other medical facilities, to provide the most advanced, cutting edge care for neonatal and pediatric patients in the transport environment. Completing over 4,500 transports annually, our team is a leader in specialty care transport. Our transport program is CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) accredited in all three modes of transport; ground ambulance, rotor wing and fixed wing. Children s Mercy Critical Care Transport has been recognized by the Association of Air Medical Services with several awards. In addition to the 2007 Transport Program of the Year Award, our team received the Fixed Wing Award of Excellence in 2006, and the Ground Award of Excellence in Our team configuration consists of registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists, emergency medical technicians and certified flight communication specialists. Some of the advanced therapies utilized on transport include high frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, heliox, and sub-atmospheric oxygen delivery. Our fleet consists of eight specialty configured ground ambulances, the only BK-117 hospital-based helicopter dedicated exclusively to neonatal and pediatric patients in Missouri and Kansas, and a Beechcraft King Air Super 200 fixed wing aircraft. Our fixed wing aircraft is medically custom designed to accommodate two isolettes or two pediatric patients. Our 24 hour communication center creates the foundation for our team. Our certified flight communication specialists dispatch every mode of transport within minutes of the transport request and are responsible for ground and flight following.

4 Pre-Conference Workshops June 3, 2009 Mechanical Ventilation Lab: This ventilation lab will include small group multiple station rotations with an overview of advanced neonatal and pediatric ventilation management principles specific to particular disease processes. Clinical specialists will discuss and demonstrate high frequency ventilation and nitric oxide delivery on transport. (Space is limited to 25 participants) 8 a.m. Noon, Location - UMKC This session has been awarded 3.5 nursing contact hours, 4.2 respiratory contact hours, and 3.5 EMT contact hours. Neonatal/Pediatric Simulation Lab: This simulation lab will utilize the latest technology in patient simulation. The simulators imitate both neonatal and pediatric real life patient conditions and situations featuring computer based scenarios. Improve your neonatal and pediatric skills with this hands-on training lab. Didactic content will include learning how to integrate simulation into your training and transport program. Cardiac Module: This four hour course is recommended for any neonatal or pediatric health care provider who must identify and care for neonates or infants with congenital heart disease. About the Conference June 4-5, 2009 The third annual Kids n Kopters neonatal and pediatric critical care transport conference will be June 3-5, 2009 in Kansas City, Missouri. This conference provides transport and health care professionals with the most cutting edge information in neonatal and pediatric transport medicine. It also provides a venue to network with transport colleagues nationwide and share best practices in neonatal and pediatric transport.
