2 Activity Information Course Description and Statement of Need This in depth educational symposium will explore gender specific issues in prevalence, risk factors, screening modalities, and medical management strategies, including antiatherosclerotic preventive management, symptom management, revascularization, valvular, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia management, JNC 8 hypertension management, and menopause hormone therapy. The purpose of this conference is to close the knowledge gap of physicians and allied health care professionals regarding sex-specific differences in cardiovascular disease and the impact these differences have on treatment options, and to highlight the importance of identifying women at risk for cardiovascular disease and utilizing the most current evidence-based treatment strategies for improved patient outcomes. Target Audience This educational activity is intended for clinicians who provide cardiovascular care for adult female patients. Educational Objectives Diagnose and treat angina particularly in women In order to improve quality of life and reduce adverse event risk. Correctly diagnose and treat dyslipidemia particularly in women. Review the prevalence, significance, diagnosis and management of diastolic heart disease in women. Refer women with valvular heart disease for appropriate intervention. Accreditation Statement is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation Statement designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved by the ACCME for category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal.
