4 Direct mail At a glance Direct mail pieces can be sent to either chamber of commerce members or corporate and association members in English and/or in French. Mailings to members are conducted on an as-needed basis. Specifications Our basic rate is for one English and/or French insert, such as a flyer, a brochure or a postcard. The maximum finished size for the insert is 8.5 x 11 and the insert must not exceed 100 grams. Inserts for chamber of commerce members are more successful if they specify what you want the chamber manager to do with your information. For a mailing to member chambers of commerce, 400 English copies and/or 50 French copies of your insert are needed. For a mailing to corporate and association members, 650 English copies and/or 50 French copies of your insert are needed. Materials must arrive at the Canadian Chamber s Ottawa office one week prior to the mailing date. 2 Advertisement Opportunities The Canadian Chamber of Commerce

We can set up a basic.html , with graphics and copy, for you or you can provide us with one. If you are providing us with the artwork, we require one.zip file per language with the following files. Your message cannot exceed 1 MB in size and 600 pixels in width. o o One.html file that includes a * LIST:DESCRIPTION * tag and a * UNSUB * tag in the footer All your images in web formats (.jpg,.gif or.png) o Your CSS file(s) By supplying your artwork in the above format, we can extend a $200 discount on your campaign. Artwork and/or copy must arrive at the Canadian Chamber s Ottawa office one week prior to the ing date. Note: Our firewall blocks.zip files. Connections/Au Courant is distributed mid-month. Specifications Our basic rate is for one English and/or French advertorial or business card ad. Advertorials will be labelled as such. Advertorials may contain a maximum of 200 words. Business card ads may contain graphics and its finished size is 2 x 3.5. Banner ads are available for run-of-site ads. Specifications Banner ads must be supplied in English AND in French. Ads are 214 x 400 pixels and will appear in the right column. The ad must be at a resolution of 72 dpi and in a.gif,.png or.jpg format in RGB. Animated giffs are accepted with a limit of three loops maximum. Flash files are not supported. The ad s file size limit is 3 megabytes. Ads are to be supplied by the advertiser at the advertiser s cost two business days prior to the campaign start date. Note: Our firewall blocks.zip files. 9 Advertising Policy Introduction The Canadian Chamber of Commerce s advertising policy is intended to provide guidance on the acceptance of advertising and is intended to ensure that all advertising is consistent with the Canadian Chamber s values, strategic direction and brand. This policy applies to both paid and complimentary advertising. The terms advertising and advertisement refer to the provision of space to promote a product, service or event on the Canadian Chamber s website and in its publications. These terms also refer to the content of newsletter articles (i.e. an advertorial), social media posts, campaigns and direct mailing pieces. Advertising opportunities Paid The Canadian Chamber offers members and non-members the following paid advertising opportunities: o Direct mail inserts o campaigns for non-commercial opportunities o Advertorials or business card ads in our newsletter, Connections o Website banner ads The Canadian Chamber can accept a variety of paid advertisements including but not limited to product, service or event announcements, personnel announcements, job postings and member-to-member discounts on business-related products or services. These types of advertisements may be disseminated through the Canadian Chamber s website, newsletter or direct mail and campaigns. Complimentary The Canadian Chamber may choose to offer project and event sponsors complimentary advertising opportunities through its website, event publications, newsletter, or direct mail and campaigns. These types of advertisements may include but are not limited to product, service or event announcements, member-to-member discounts on business-related products or services, business achievements, and corporate social responsibility activities. The Canadian Chamber may choose to offer government departments and charitable organizations complimentary advertising opportunities through its website, newsletter or direct mail and campaigns. These types of advertisements may include but are not limited to free government programs and services as well as government or charitable public awareness campaigns that are of interest to business.

10 Through its social media sites, the Canadian Chamber may choose to communicate messages, on a complimentary basis, that may be perceived by some as advertising. These messages include but are not limited to the business achievements of its members, the corporate social responsibility activities of its members, the participation of its members in its events, free government programs and services as well as government or charitable public awareness campaigns that are of interest to business. Eligibility and review process The Canadian Chamber has the final approval for all advertisements prior to distribution or publication and reserves, at its discretion, the right to unilaterally omit or cancel, prior to distribution or publication, those that violate the advertising standards outlined in this policy. The Canadian Chamber may propose modifications to the advertiser that would make the ad acceptable or within the Canadian Chamber s guidelines. In the event that the Canadian Chamber cancels an ad because it violates its advertising standards, a full or partial refund may be granted. The Canadian Chamber reserves the right to refuse any advertisement or organization that is deemed incompatible with its values, strategic direction and brand. The Canadian Chamber will not accept advertising for products, services or events that directly compete with any of its activities. Advertisements deemed to be deceptive, offensive and fraudulent or those in conflict with the Canadian Chamber s political policies will be refused. Advertisements sent via or published in the Canadian Chamber s newsletter must be identified as such. In no event shall the Canadian Chamber s acceptance of any advertisement be considered an endorsement of the product or service advertised or for the company that manufactures, distributes or promotes such product or service.
