4 Mutifunction power system monitor - the most comprehensive mutifunction power system monitor Genera Description The IDM+ mutifunction power system monitor offers a wide variety of functions utiized in substations today. Combining standard features of faut recording and disturbance monitoring with the options of phasor measurement, power quaity and highy accurate traveing wave faut ocation, the IDM+ famiy is designed to everage investment with the key functions combined within one device. The IDM+ famiy consists of three variants with two packaging arrangements: IDM+ 9-9 anaog and 32 digita channes (3U, 19 inch rack mountabe encosure) IDM anaog and 64 digita channes (6U 19 inch rack mountabe encosure) IDM anaog and 128 digita channes (6U 19 inch rack mountabe encosure) The devices can be used as standaone monitors or combined via standard oca area network (LAN) connections into a arger system. Fast cross triggering via the LAN aows simutaneous coection of synchronized data across the group. Comprehensive triggering means high speed DFR records can be stored for a faut conditions and power system disturbances fagged marking time segments of interest in the DDR sow-scan continuous recording. Future proof scaabiity The IDM+ can be expanded in functionaity as needs change. It can be configured as a digita faut recorder and disturbance monitor from the beginning and over time expanded into a mutifunction substation monitor incuding PMU, PQ device and a TWS faut ocator. Adding functionaity in the future can be easiy and inexpensivey accompished without the need for an additiona device or centra master station software. Accurate time synchronization is important for the correct anaysis of data from mutipe sources and essentia for phasor measurements and traveing wave faut ocation. A GPS receiver can be fitted to any device to achieve a time accuracy of 100 ns. Other devices in the group can be time ocked to the master device to an accuracy of 1µs via the network based NTP protoco and a separate 1pps. Other time synchronization options are avaiabe. A data is stored in CompactFash. Each device has 4 GB avaiabe as standard with options for 8 or 16 GB. Communications is via ethernet (RJ45 or fibre), modem or seria port. Note that IP forwarding can be enabed in the master unit fitted with an interna modem. Cas for other save devices in the group are automaticay routed through the master. Ony one teephone ine is needed to access mutipe devices. Cass A power quaity Power quaity measurement is sti a deveoping market for transmission and sub transmission. Basic variabes (e.g. RMS vaues of votage and current) are we defined but the cacuation methods of the PQ quantities were not. With so many different manufacturers and devices avaiabe, it is ikey to obtain varying resuts depending on the brand of instrument used. To obtain reiabe, repeatabe and comparabe resuts, the Internationa Eectrotechnica Commission standard, IEC has defined standard measurement methods for each type of parameter. The IDM+ has been fuy certified as meeting the IEC standard to Cass A accuracy. A 6U, 18 channe system can provide phasors for up to 5 circuits assuming a common three phase votage and three phase ine currents or 3 circuits each with dedicated votages. A phasor is generated for each anaog channe or it is possibe to seect positive, negative and zero sequence components.
