29 3 Quick Insta and Sient Mode Instaation In This Chapter Instaation Methods...29 Performing a Quick Insta...29 Sient Instaation...31 Driver Count Settings...32 This chapter describes the most direct way to perform a Hyperion Enterprise instaation. Instaation Methods Quick Insta and Sient Mode instaation use the defaut seections of the instaation program. Use Quick Insta and Sient Mode ony if the foowing statements is true: You want to insta ony core Hyperion Enterprise and none of its components. You want to insta a fies on a oca or network drive, then run Hyperion Enterprise from that drive. If your situation does not meet these conditions or if you want to insta a different set of products, see Chapter 4, Instaing Hyperion Enterprise for instructions on instaing this reease. Note: When uninstaing an earier reease of Hyperion Enterprise, you must exit Hyperion Enterprise appication, Hyperion Enterprise Data Server, Hyperion Enterprise Web Server, and Hyperion Enterprise Appication Server. Faiure to cose these programs produces a message stating that a component move data error has occurred. Orace's Hyperion recommends that you remove any earier reease of Hyperion Enterprise before upgrading to a new reease. Hyperion Enterprise reease supports upgrade Instaations from ony. Performing a Quick Insta The Quick Insta procedure does not insta Hyperion Enterprise Data Server, Hyperion Enterprise Appication Server, Hyperion Enterprise Message Server, Web Server, Statutory Consoidation Engine, Hyperion LedgerLink, Aocations, Hyperion AutoPiot, or the Hyperion Enterprise conversion utiities. Instaation Methods 29

30 Before you use the Quick Insta procedure, refer to Chapter 2, Panning the Instaation. ä To perform a Quick Insta: 1 From the Windows Start menu, run path\insta.exe where path is the path to the Hyperion Enterprise instaation directory. However, in order to work with reports you need to insta Hyperion Enterprise Reporting. For more information on instaing Hyperion Enterprise Reporting refer the Hyperion Enterprise Reporting Instaation Guide. Sient Instaation If you want to insta Hyperion Enterprise on mutipe computers using the same instaation options, you can record your instaation settings and then run a sient instaation from the command ine. Sient instaations automate the instaation process so that you can insta Hyperion Enterprise without specifying instaation settings each time. Before you perform a Sient Mode instaation, refer to Chapter 2, Panning the Instaation. Sient Mode instaation creates a og fie, setup.og in the instaation directory, which is where the setup.exe fie is ocated. The og fie contains the resuts of the Sient Mode instaation, incuding any error codes. Performing a Sient Mode Instaation ä To perform a Sient Mode instaation: 1 Copy the instaation fies for the anguage you are instaing either to a oca drive, a different ocation on the same network drive, or a different network drive. 2 From the Windows Start menu, cick Run. 3 Type path\setup.exe -r where path points to the Hyperion Enterprise instaation directory on your network drive. The og fie for the main setup, setup.og, is in the directory where the main response fie is ocated. Driver Count Settings If the driver count HPDRVCNT in the hypent.ini fie does not equa the number of HPDRVn ines, an error message might be dispayed. To resove this, you must enter the appropriate additiona HPDRVn ine in the hypent.ini fie, as in the foowing exampes: Fie-based version of Hyperion Enterprise: HPDRV1=HEFie,HEFieUI,Fie-based Appication 32 Quick Insta and Sient Mode Instaation
