4 New Features Summary Object Editr Enhancements Object editrs are database platfrm and bject-specific dialgs in Rapid SQL that prvide users with an interface fr mdifying datasurce bjects, withut having t manually script cde when mdifying existing bjects r creating new nes. These tabbed dialgs prvide the ability t mve between the management f different datasurce platfrms effrtlessly and mdify catalg, syntax, and alteratin rules. The Rapid SQL 7.5 bject editrs have been greatly imprved upn, and nw prvide additinal cmmand supprt fr editing datasurce bjects, as well as increased platfrm supprt fr specified editrs. Object Editrs prvide an interface fr displaying and mdifying datasurce bjects withut the need t manually create SQL scripts. 4 f 13

8 DB Artisan Functinality Rapid SQL 7.5 has been enhanced t incrprate the functinality f DB Artisan and DB Artisan 8.5 functinality, primarily with regards t the bject editrs. This strengthens Rapid SQL with further datasurce bject mdificatin ptins, and prvides greater flexibility when maintaining the enterprise. DB Artisan features such as the Primary Keys Editr are nw included in the Rapid SQL Object Editr Suite. 8 f 13

9 Rapid SQL 7.5 integrates key DB Artisan features including: Primary Keys Editr: The Primary Keys editr prvides users with the ability t mdify the settings and ptins f existing primary key datasurce bjects. This includes the ability t specify primary key clumns, manage space allcatins, prperties, partitins, and strage criteria, and display page and rw statistics, as apprpriate fr DBMS types. Unique Keys Editr: The Unique Keys editr enables users t mdify the settings and ptins f existing unique key datasurce bjects. It prvides the ability t manage clumns, strage, and partitins, view page and rw statistics, view space allcatins fr unique keys, and mdify unique key prperties, as apprpriate fr DBMS types. Indexes Editr: Index Editrs fr DB2 LUW and DB2 OS390 have been incrprated int the Rapid SQL 7.5 Object Editr suite. This prvides additinal supprt fr Indexes n thse datasurce platfrms. Triggers Editr: Trigger Editrs fr Oracle and DB2 LUW datasurce platfrms have been incrprated int the Object Editr suite. Trigger editrs prvide additinal supprt fr trigger bjects n Oracle and DB2 LUW datasurce platfrms. Sybase Aliases Editr: The DB Artisan Alias editr prvides the ability t mdify and manage alias bjects fr Sybase datasurce platfrms. Systems Privileges Tab: The Systems Privileges tab has been added t Rapid SQL 7.5 s bject editrs. This tab prvides the ability t grant and revke datasurce bject privileges t and frm the datasurce bjects a user is wrking with in an bject editr, as apprpriate. Table Editrs: Table editrs have been added t Rapid SQL 7.5 s bject suite. The tab prvides the ability t mdify tables n Sybase, DB2 LUW, DB2 OS390, SQL Server, and Oracle datasurce platfrms. 9 f 13

10 isql Dialg Interface An isql windw is nw prvided when executing prcedures r therwise running SQL scripts in Rapid SQL 7.5. The isql windw prvides an interface fr viewing, mdifying, and updating SQL cde. The windw prvides an interface fr viewing cde as it executes, and negates the need r effrt t check lg files t inspect scripts whenever an errr ccurs r a prcedure is finished its executin. Temprary Database Supprt A graphical interface is prvided fr creating and drpping SQL Server temprary databases within Rapid SQL 7.5. Temprary databases are used during the develpment prcess t stre temprary data such as result sets and srt tables. The temprary database interface in Rapid SQL 7.5 enables users t view bth temprary databases and existing databases within a datasurce, and bind applicatins and active lgin sessins t specific databases. Additinally, it fully supprts all temprary database cmmands such as drp and create. Results View Enhancements The Results View has been redesigned t supprt a cnsistent lk and feel acrss DBMS and bject types, a mre unified and understandable apprach t bject viewing, and therwise prvide an imprved viewing experience when using the tab. 10 f 13

11 Sybase Supprt Rapid SQL 7.5 fully supprts Sybase 15 and prvides the fllwing benefits/imprvements t users requiring the ability t manipulate the bjects f the Sybase 15 datasurce: Clumns can be designated as an identity fr any f the apprpriate datatypes. Data queries, as well as the ability t create and edit clumns, and syntax highlighting displays fr unitext, bgint, and unsigned bject types. The character maximum fr bject names has been expanded t a 255 character maximum. Full supprt fr the fllwing prtcl and cmmunicatin types: Kerbers authenticatin supprt. DB2 Supprt Rapid SQL 7.5 nw supprts DB2 and prvides the fllwing benefits/imprvements t users requiring the ability t manipulate the bjects f the DB2 datasurce: Reprt creatin fr DB2 views. Grant and revke privileges frm DB2 views. Supprts indexes, index specificatins, methds, rutines, and user-defined functins with 128.byte identifiers.
