6 Intrductin Milestne XPrtect Matrix is an integrated prduct allwing distributed viewing f vide frm any camera n any mnitr n a netwrk perating with selected Milestne XPrtect surveillance systems. A cmputer n which Matrix-triggered images can be shwn is knwn as a Matrix recipient. Being able t view Matrix-triggered images requires that either an XPrtect Smart Client (see separate manual available fr dwnlad ( r the Matrix Mnitr applicatin is installed n the Matrix recipient. This manual cvers the Matrix Mnitr applicatin. Example: Viewing images in the Matrix Mnitr applicatin There are tw ways in which Matrix-triggered images can appear n a Matrix recipient: Anther user wants t share imprtant images, and sends them t the required Matrix recipient The images are sent t the required Matrix recipient autmatically when a predefined event ccurs; fr example when a dr sensr detects that a dr is pened, r when the surveillance system detects mtin in the images frm a camera As part f the image exchange between cmputers n the Matrix-enabled surveillance system, ther cmputers are able t send cmmands t Matrix recipients. The cmmands typically tell the Matrix recipients t cnnect t, r discnnect, image feeds frm a particular cameras. Exactly which cmputers are allwed t send cmmands t yur Matrix recipient is defined as part f the cnfiguratin f yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin. 6 Intrductin

7 Installatin Nte: Read the License Terms n the Prduct License Sheet (enclsed with the sftware DVD) befre installing the Matrix Mnitr applicatin. T install the Matrix Mnitr applicatin, d the fllwing: 1. Insert the surveillance system sftware DVD, wait fr a shrt while, select required language (if applicable), then click the Install Milestne Matrix Mnitr link. Alternatively, if yu are installing a versin dwnladed frm the internet, run the file MilestneXPrtectMatrixMnitr.exe frm the lcatin yu have saved it t. Tip: Depending n yur security settings, yu may receive ne r mre security warnings (typically D yu want t run r save this file?, D yu want t run this sftware? r similar). When this is the case, click Run. 2. When the installatin wizard starts, click Next. 3. Read and accept the License Agreement. 4. Specify yur User Name and Cmpany Name: Yu furthermre have the ptin f selecting whether the Matrix Mnitr applicatin shuld be available just fr yu, r fr anyne using the cmputer. If in dubt, select Anyne... When ready, click Next. 5. Fllw the next few simple steps in the installatin wizard until yu are asked t select the setup type that best suits yur needs: If yu want a shrtcut t the Matrix Mnitr applicatin placed n yur desktp autmatically, keep Add shrtcut t desktp selected. 7 Installatin

8 If yu want the Matrix Mnitr applicatin t run autmatically each time the cmputer lads Windws, keep Add Matrix Mnitr t Startup grup selected. When ready, click Next twice. 6. Click Finish. Up-t-date vide device drivers Vide device drivers are small prgrams used by Matrix Mnitr fr cmmunicating with cameras. Vide device drivers are installed autmatically during the initial installatin f yur Matrix Mnitr. Hwever, new versins f vide device drivers, s-called Device Packs, are released and made available fr dwnlad ( fr free, frm time t time. It is highly recmmended that yu regularly check if new Device Packs are available, and if s, that yu dwnlad and install them n the cmputer running Matrix Mnitr. Remve ld device pack IMPORTANT: When yu remve yur vide device drivers, yur Matrix Mnitr will nt be able t cmmunicate with cameras until yu have installed the new versin f the vide device drivers. It is therefre highly recmmended that yu perfrm the update at a time when yu d nt expect imprtant incidents t take place. 1. Open Windws' Cntrl Panel, and select Add r Remve Prgrams. This will pen the Add r Remve Prgrams windw. 2. In the Add r Remve Prgrams windw, select the Vide Device Pack Vx.x entry (where x.x indicates the relevant versin number), and click Remve. 3. Yu will be asked t cnfirm that yu want t remve the XPrtect Vide Device Drivers. Click OK t d s. Install new device pack 1. Duble-click the dwnladed XPrtect Vide Device Driver file DeviceInstaller.exe t begin installatin. Depending n yur security settings, ne r mre Windws security warnings may appear. If such security warnings appear, accept security warnings by clicking Run r similar (exact buttn text depends n yur brwser versin). 2. Select required language, and click OK. This will pen the Vide Device Driver Setup Wizard, which will guide yu thrugh the installatin. 3. On the wizard's first step, click Next. 4. On the wizard's secnd step, an installatin path is autmatically suggested. Click Next. 5. On the wizard's third step, select Device drivers... and click Next. 6. The wizard is nw ready t install the vide device drivers. Click Install t cmplete the installatin f the vide device drivers. 8 Installatin

9 Cnfiguratin The way yu access the cnfiguratin windw fr the Matrix Mnitr applicatin differs depending n whether yu cnfigure the Matrix Mnitr applicatin fr the first time r yu want t make changes t the cnfiguratin f a running Matrix Mnitr applicatin. First time cnfiguratin T cnfigure the Matrix Mnitr applicatin fr the first time, d the fllwing: 1. Duble-click the Matrix Mnitr shrtcut n yur desktp: Alternatively, use Windws Start menu, selecting All Prgrams > Milestne XPrtect Matrix Mnitr > Milestne Matrix Mnitr. This will pen the Matrix Mnitr Cnfiguratin windw: 2. In the Passwrd and Retype Passwrd fields, specify the passwrd required fr cmmunicating with yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin. The passwrd must match the passwrd that has been specified fr yur Matrix recipient n the surveillance system server; cnsult yur surveillance system administratr if in dubt. Tip: Memrize the passwrd; yu will need it if yu want t change yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin s cnfiguratin at a later stage. 3. Specify the prt number n which yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin will listen fr cmmands (e.g. abut cnnecting t a camera). By default, prt is used. The prt number must match the prt number that has been specified fr yur Matrix recipient n the surveillance system server; cnsult yur surveillance system administratr if in dubt. 4. Specify which hsts (ther cmputers) are allwed t send cmmands t yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin. If cmmands frm any hst shuld be accepted, simply select Allw All Hsts. If nly cmmands frm particular hsts shuld be accepted, leave the Allw All Hsts bx cleared, and d the fllwing t add each required hst: a. Specify the IP address f the hst in the field belw the large Allwed Hsts bx in the right side f the windw: Tip: T jump t the next IP address segment in the field, press SPACE n yur keybard. b. Click Add t add the hst t the list f Allwed Hsts. c. Repeat fr each required hst. Tip: If yu later want t remve a hst frm the list, simply select the unwanted hst in the list, then click Delete. 9 Cnfiguratin

10 5. Nw yu are able t custmize the behavir f yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin; yu d this by adjusting settings in the windw s Run Mde sectin. Tip: The Matrix Mnitr applicatin is pre-cnfigured with typically required behavir (settings marked by (default) in the fllwing list). Yu d nt need t adjust the settings listed in this step unless yu want t custmize the way yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin shuld behave; cnsult yur surveillance system administratr if in dubt. Always On Tp: If selected (default), this setting frces the Matrix Mnitr windw n tp f ther windws. This setting can subsequently be changed frm a menu accessible by right-clicking inside the Matrix Mnitr windw. Aut Accept All Cmmands: If selected (default), this setting will make yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin autmatically accept all cmmands received frm allwed hsts (prvided the cmmands are accmpanied by the crrect passwrd). If this setting is nt used, a dialg in the Matrix Mnitr windw will prmpt yu t accept each received cmmand. Display Camera Inf: If selected (default), this setting will shw camera infrmatin in the Matrix Mnitr windw. This allws camera names r camera IP addresses t be displayed, even if the Matrix Mnitr windw is running in full screen mde. The same image with and withut camera infrmatin Keep Vide Aspect Rati: If selected (default), this setting will keep the riginal aspect rati f images when the Matrix Mnitr windw is resized. If this setting is nt used, images will be stretched t fill the available space Cnfiguratin

Recnnect On Startup: If selected (default), the Matrix Mnitr will autmatically attempt t cnnect t the last cnnected camera when starting. If this setting is nt used, n camera cnnectin will be attempted at startup. Camera Layut: Lets yu select whether the Matrix Mnitr windw shuld run in 1 1 r 2 2 mde: In 1 1 mde, the Matrix Mnitr windw is capable f displaying image feeds frm a single camera at a time. In 2 2 mde (default), the Matrix Mnitr windw is capable f shwing image feeds frm up t fur cameras at a time. If using 2 2 mde, the image feeds will be inserted in tp-left-t-bttm-right rder, accrding t a first-in-first-ut principle: Image feeds will remain in the psitin in which they were laded; when all fur psitins are used, any new image feeds will replace the ldest image feeds. If yu select Insert Camera On Tp, new image feeds will always be displayed in the tp left psitin while any previusly received image feeds will be shifted ne psitin frward and eventually be "pushed ut:" Startup Mde: Lets yu select hw the Matrix Mnitr windw shuld pen when starting. With Full Screen, the Matrix Mnitr windw will pen in full screen mde, i.e. cmpletely maximized, withut any title bar, etc. With Windw, the Matrix Mnitr windw will pen in regular mde, i.e. as a scalable windw with a title bar, etc. With Hidden, the Matrix Mnitr windw will lad in hidden mde, in which yu will nt see the windw until there are images t display. Yu will, hwever, still be able t access the windw by clicking the Milestne XPrtect Matrix icn in Windws ntificatin area (als knwn as the system tray; typically lcated in the bttm right crner f yur screen). Depending n yur On Cnnect settings (see next), a hidden Matrix Mnitr windw can autmatically be restred t previus size when a cnnect cmmand is received: 11 Cnfiguratin

12 Example nly; yur ntificatin area may have different cntent On Cnnect: Lets yu determine hw the Matrix Mnitr windw shuld react when a cnnect cmmand is received. Shw Alert: If selected, this setting will shw a small alert bx in the bttm right crner f yur screen when a cnnect cmmand is received. The alert bx will clse autmatically after 10 secnds. Shw Windw: If selected, this setting will autmatically restre a Matrix Mnitr windw in hidden mde t previus size when a cnnect cmmand is received. On Discnnect: Lets yu determine hw the Matrix Mnitr windw shuld react when a discnnect cmmand is received. Shw Alert: If selected, this setting will shw a small alert bx in the bttm right crner f yur screen when a discnnect cmmand is received. The alert bx will clse autmatically after 10 secnds. Hide Windw: If selected, this setting will autmatically send the Matrix Mnitr windw t hidden mde when a discnnect cmmand is received. When the windw is in hidden mde, yu still be able t access it by clicking the Milestne XPrtect Matrix icn in Windws ntificatin area (als knwn as the system tray). 6. When ready, click OK. Cnfigure a running Matrix Mnitr T change the cnfiguratin f a running Matrix Mnitr applicatin, d the fllwing: 1. Open the Matrix Mnitr windw. Right-click anywhere inside the Matrix Mnitr windw, and select Cnfig frm the menu that appears: 2. Specify the passwrd required fr cmmunicating with yur Matrix Mnitr: 3. Click OK. This will pen the Matrix Mnitr Cnfiguratin windw. Each f the windw s settings is described in First time cnfiguratin (n page 9). 4. Make the required changes, and click OK when ready Cnfiguratin

13 Day-t-day use Open the Matrix Mnitr windw Depending n cnfiguratin (n page 9), the Matrix Mnitr windw may appear n yur screen autmatically. If the Matrix Mnitr applicatin is nt running, yu can start it by duble-clicking the Matrix Mnitr shrtcut n yur desktp: Alternatively, use Windws Start menu, selecting All Prgrams > Milestne XPrtect Matrix Mnitr > Milestne Matrix Mnitr. Yu may als find that the Matrix Mnitr applicatin is running, but in hidden mde. When the Matrix Mnitr applicatin runs in hidden mde, yu will nt see the Matrix Mnitr windw until there are images t display. Yu will, hwever, still be able t access the windw by duble-clicking the Matrix Mnitr icn in Windws ntificatin area (als knwn as the system tray; typically lcated in the bttm right crner f yur screen): Example nly; yur ntificatin area may have different cntent 1 1 and 2 2 view Depending n cnfiguratin (n page 9), yur Matrix Mnitr windw will display either a 1 1 r a 2 2 view: With 1 1, the Matrix Mnitr windw is capable f displaying image feeds frm a single camera at a time. With 2 2, the Matrix Mnitr windw is capable f shwing image feeds frm up t fur cameras at a time. If using 2 2, the image feeds will be inserted in tp-left-t-bttm-right rder, accrding t a first-in-first-ut principle: Image feeds will remain in the psitin in which they were laded; when all fur psitins are used, any new image feeds will replace the ldest image feeds. Tggle regular and full screen view T quickly tggle between viewing the Matrix Mnitr windw in full screen r regular view, duble-click anywhere inside the Matrix Mnitr windw. Accept received cmmands As part f the image exchange between cmputers n the Matrix system, ther cmputers (exactly which cmputers are defined as part f yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin s cnfiguratin) are able t send cmmands t yur Matrix Mnitr. The cmmands typically tell yur Matrix Mnitr t cnnect t, r discnnect frm, an image feed frm a particular camera. As part f the cnfiguratin (n page 9), yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin may have been set up t autmatically accept all received cmmands, in which case new image feeds will autmatically be displayed in yur Matrix Mnitr windw. If yur Matrix Mnitr has nt been set up t autmatically accept all received cmmands, yu will be prmpted t accept all received cmmands befre they are executed. When a cmmand is received, a small dialg will be displayed in the bttm right crner f yur screen. The dialg will display the IP address r hstname f the sender as well as infrmatin abut the cmmand itself. T accept the cmmand, click Accept. If yu d nt want t accept the cmmand, click Decline. Alerts upn executed cmmands As part f the cnfiguratin (n page 9), yur Matrix Mnitr applicatin may have been set up t autmatically display alerts each time a cmmand is executed Day-t-day use

15 When this is the case, a small alert bx will be displayed in the bttm right crner f yur screen upn each executed cmmand. The alert bx will infrm yu abut the executed cmmand. The alert bx will clse autmatically after 10 secnds. If required, yu can clse the alert bx manually at any time. Shrtcut menus Tw shrtcut menus are available when wrking with the Matrix Mnitr applicatin: Matrix Mnitr windw shrtcut menu By right-clicking anywhere inside the Matrix Mnitr windw, yu get access t a shrtcut menu: The shrtcut menu has the fllwing ptins: Full Screen: Lets yu view the Matrix Mnitr windw in full screen mde, i.e. cmpletely maximized, withut any title bar, etc. T return t regular view, simply select Full Screen again. Tip: T quickly tggle between viewing the Matrix Mnitr windw in full screen r regular view, yu can als simply duble-click anywhere inside the Matrix Mnitr windw. Always On Tp: Frces the Matrix Mnitr windw n tp f ther windws n yur screen. Cnfig: Lets yu access the Matrix Mnitr Cnfiguratin windw (see "Cnfiguratin" n page 9). Nte that befre the Matrix Mnitr Cnfiguratin windw pens, yu will be prmpted t specify the passwrd required fr cmmunicating with yur Matrix Mnitr.
