1 Webal Pr Appliance Setup 1. Dwnlad the Webal virtual appliance apprpriate fr yur virtualizatin infrastructure, using the link yu were ed. The virtual appliance is delivered as a.zip file that is n the rder f 1 GB. It will expand t a few GB after extracting the cntent f the.zip file. 2. Have yur virtualizatin administratr imprt the Webal virtual appliance and make it available in the virtualizatin management cnsle. This prcess varies with virtualizatin platfrm and versin. a. Yur virtualizatin platfrm must supprt 64 bit guest perating systems. b. Yu will need a minimum f 140GB f disc space t install Webal Pr Appliance. c. Yu will need t allcate at least 8GB f memry fr Webal Pr Appliance. (16Gb fr Web Cnnect) d. Only allcate a single CPU t Webal Pr Appliance. 3. Lg int t yur virtualizatin management applicatin (e.g., VMware Infrastructure Client, Xen Center, r Hyper-V Manager) and pwer n the Webal Pr Appliance instance. 4. In yur virtualizatin client, pen a cnsle windw t Webal Pr Appliance. Yu shuld see the startup prcess fr the virtual appliance. Upn cmpletin f the startup, yu will see a screen with 5 ptins: cnfigure print terminal restart shutdwn

Type cnfigure and hit return, then enter the fllwing infrmatin t cnfigure the appliance fr yur netwrk: Hstname: Enter a fully-qualified dmain name fr the hst e.g., abc.mycmpany.cm Dynamic IP (Yes r N): Yes r N Hst IP: If Dynamic IP = N then enter a rutable IP address (nte: this must match the IP yu prvided fr the entitlement) Netmask: Enter yur netmask IP Gateway Dynamic (Yes r N): Yes r N Gateway IP: If Gateway Dynamic = N then enter a gateway IP DNS Dynamic (Yes r N): Yes r N DNS: If DNS Dynamic = N then enter DNS servers that can reslve the fully qualified dmain name f the hst DNS Search Dmain: yurdnssearchdmain.cm After yu enter the last setting and hit return, yu will be asked fr the appliance administratr username and passwrd. Username: admin Passwrd: Default admin passwrd is passwrd yu will be prmpted t change it in a subsequent step. After the netwrk is recnfigured, cnfirm that the appliance "netwrk status" shws "cnnected":

3 6. Cmplete cnfiguratin f the Webal virtual appliance using the Appliance Administratin Interface (AAI) pages. Frm a Flash-enabled brwser n a cmputer n the same LAN as the appliance, navigate via HTTP n prt 8004 t the fully-qualified dmain name f yur appliance, e.g.: 7. Enter the credentials: Username: admin Passwrd: same as in previus step Chse a new passwrd fr the appliance "admin" user and enter it here. Be sure t recrd this passwrd in a secure place. Press Save.

4 8. Set the time zne t match the time zne in yur lcatin and set the server t synchrnize via NTP. Press Save. If yu get a dialg bx asking yu t cnfirm yur update t date and time, press Save in the dialg. CS0205

5 9. In the Ntificatin Address step, enter the address fr the appliance administratr. This address will receive ntificatins f system events, like backup cmpletin, rebts, shutdwns, etc. Press Save. 10. Skip the netwrk cnfiguratin step unless yu need t change r add smething.

Relay Server Cnfiguratin Send Mail Frm: Mail Relay Server: <name f SMTP server> [Nte: this and the fllwing can be left blank, in which case the appliance itself will be used] Specify a prt, username and passwrd if necessary. Press Save. 12. If yu have a Prxy Server, enter that infrmatin int the Appliance Administratin Interface. Press Save.

7 13. Lad the entitlement file An entitlement file was ed t the accunt administratr when yu upgraded yur accunt t Webal Pr Appliance. Make sure this file is accessible frm the machine n which yu're running the brwser t d this cnfiguratin. Chse Uplad Entitlement File, enter (r brwse t) the file name, and press the Uplad buttn. Yu'll get a message that the machine will have t be rebted fr the entitlement t take effect. Clse the ntificatin, press the Save buttn, and cntinue. Yu'll rebt in a cuple mre steps. NOTE: Yu will need t get a new entitlement each time Webal is mved t a new IP address r hst name. A request frm is available in the dcument sectin f NOTE 2: T access yu will need t use the accunt administratr credentials yu created n service.webal.cm. Yu will be prmpted t lgin in a separate brwser windw. If yu want t allw ther administratrs t access supprt, just add their credentials t yur service.webal.cm accunt.

8 14. Specify backup frequency and lcatin t cnfrm t yur enterprise plicies, then press Save. 15. Chse whether r nt the appliance will be a standalne appliance r part f a cluster. The default N, this is a stand-alne appliance shuld be selected.

9 16. Enter the address fr the system administratr, and specify a passwrd. Be sure t recrd this lgin infrmatin in a secure place. The system administratr lgin will be f the frm user@dmain/system e.g. bjnes@mycmpany.cm/system. The /system indicates the system administratr rle, which is required fr certain system-wide administrative functins (fr example, setting up LDAP/Active Directry integratin). 17. Rebt the Webal virtual appliance by clicking the Rebt Nw buttn.

10 18. After rebting is cmplete (usually abut 3 5 minutes) navigate again t the Webal administrative website (e.g., and cnfirm that yu can lg in as admin. IMPORTANT: Be sure yur hstname has been added t yur DNS server. If the hstname is nt reslvable by DNS, the web pages belw will nt lad. Make sure yu use the fullyqualified hstname f the server and nt a shrt hstname. 19. As Webal uses HTTPS fr secure authenticatin and encryptin, yur Webal appliance will require an SSL certificate fr its fully-qualified dmain name, issued by a trusted Certificate Authrity like DigiCert, Thawte, r Verisign. Under Cnfiguratin, select Uplad SSL Certificate. Hit the Brwse buttn t navigate t the lcatin f the certificate file n the cmputer yu are brwsing frm: The file shuld cnsist f the unencrypted private key, fllwed by any intermediate certs and the appliance certificate itself, each in PEM frmat. The file shuld lk smething like: -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY----- [...several lines f randm-lking BASE64 characters...] -----END RSA PRIVATE KEY BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- [...several lines f randm-lking BASE64 characters...] -----END CERTIFICATE-----

11 20. Hit Uplad t install the certificate. Yu shuld see the infrmatin under Current Certificate update t reflect yur certificate infrmatin. 21. Test lgging in as the Webal system administratr frm a brwser. The address will be the fullyqualified dmain name withut the prt, e.g. Webal Pr Appliance requires HTTPS. HTTP requests will autmatically redirect t HTTPS. Yu will get a security warning if this machine des nt have a valid certificate installed, and may be prevented frm lgging in.

12 22. Trubleshting if yu are nt able t navigate t the abve URL: a. The hstname must be reslvable by DNS. Check t ensure that the hstname is indeed reslvable by yur DNS. b. The cmputer may nt be n the same netwrk as Webal appliance. See if yu can ping the IP address f the appliance. c. A valid certificate (and crrespnding private key) may nt be laded. Ensure that yu have upladed a valid certificate in the frmat described abve. 23. Once bth the system administratr and the accunt administratr lgins have been successfully tested, dwnlad and install Webal clients t yur devices and test device cnnectivity by lgging in as the accunt administratr frm the client.
