1 ZmText Netwrk License Installatin Guide Requirements: Server: Yu will need access t a physical r virtual server (Windws XP r newer) that is nt currently running ZmText, but is n the same netwrk as the client machines that will be running ZmText. Any machine that yu designate as a server shuld be nline and available 24 x 7. Client: Yu will need access t a physical machine (Windws XP r newer) that des nt have an existing installatin f ZmText. Nte: Remve any lder versin(s) f ZmText prir t installing the netwrk license. Installatin: 1. Run ZtServerSetup.exe frm the Server Installatin flder (fund in the rt f the ZmText Multi-User CD, r in the Server zip file yu dwnladed frm yur purchase ). 2. Yu ll see a dialg bx that asks fr permissin t install the Ai Squared ZmText License Server. Click OK. 3. The dialg bx clses and leaves anther windw behind it that says Installing CdeMeter Runtime. DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW. When the prcess is cmplete, a new Dialg bx will pen and say Server Setup Is Cmplete. Click OK. This prcess may take a few minutes. 4. Install the ZmText Client sftware by running Setup.exe frm the rt directry f the ZmText Multi-User CD, r frm the Client zip file that yu dwnladed frm yur purchase . Recmmended: If yu are installing t a virtual machine, yu may need t specify the machine name r IP address during setup. This can be dne using the fllwing cmmand line parameter:

2 Setup.exe /server:machinename r IP Address Ex: [PATH]:\Setup.exe server:myserver [PATH]:\Setup.exe server: Nte: Fr specific situatins yu can use the fllwing setup cmmand line arguments: Fr silent installatin use: /ni T frce ZmText t use raming prfiles: /r T disable changing f file and flder permissins: /ncfp T disallw ZmText Updates: /uwdisable T disallw dwnlading ZmText cmpnents: ndpc T disallw ZmText Internet errr lgging: erff The recmmended cmmand line is: Setup /r /ncfp This frces ZmText t use raming prfiles and will disable the changing f file and flder permissins. (Write permissins t ZmText flder and system level files in System32) 5. Retrieve yur license frm ur server here at Ai Squared. Yu shuld have received a letter with yur ZmText License packaging. Please have that letter available. Open a brwser and enter the link listed under License Activatin in yur address bar. The link frmat is as fllws: If yu did nt have the letter we included, please cntact ur sales department at [email protected] r by calling (800) After entering the link, yu ll see this dialg bx: Check the bx fr the license yu want t activate, in mst cases yu ll nly have ne. In this example the checkbx is t the right f the wrds ZmText 10.0 Magnifier Dmestic

3 Click the Activate Nw link. A new windw will pp up. Click n the Activate buttn. (NOTE: The license number here, is an example, yurs will be different!) Yu ll see a prgress indicatr that will be labeled as Activating, then Sending Receipt, fllwed by Activated. Yur Server is nw cnfigured. The Maintenance/Trubleshting guide has mre infrmatin abut the server cnfiguratin. In shrt, use this link Click the Server tab t cnfirm yur license is installed and activated. 6. Nw it s time t start ZmText. Remember, the cpy yu just installed needs t find the server t run. 7. If ZmText finds the license server and nly ne type f license is available (Magnifier r MagReader), it will startup using this license. If ZmText finds the

4 license server, but mre than ne license type is available, an ptin is prvided s yu can chse which yu d like t use. 8. If ZmText des nt find the license server r can t btain a license, ZmText will nly run fr 10 minutes. FAQ: Running ZmText If ZmText is running using a server license and the netwrk cnnectin is lst, the user is ntified and asked t restre the netwrk cnnectin r t exit. A netwrk cnnectin is cnsidered lst after trying three times every 30 secnds.
