We offer hope for the future by investing in research, and help for today through our information, support and campaigning. People with MS guide our work. Our volunteers and supporters shape our research programme through our Research Network, help us provide support locally through our branches and groups and help us write our publications. Our paid staff also provide information and support services to people affected by MS, work with scientists and healthcare professionals and raise funds in four national offices and communities across the UK. With branches in every part of the UK the Society s work has inspired thousands of volunteers, supporters and staff members to make a difference to the lives people affected by MS. Purpose To deliver income at or above the agreed budget level from Corporate relationships and activities as per the annual budget and business plan To provide management and direction for the Corporate Fundraising activities across the MS Society To establish and keep the MS Society at the forefront of UK fundraising from corporate sources at UK, national and local levels 1

2 To develop, and manage a range of cases for support for opportunities for corporate supporters including employee fundraising, CSR, charity of the year and other strategic relationships To manage the operational delivery of the department As a member of the Partnership Fundraising Management Team, to contribute to the leadership, planning and policy formulation of the Directorate as a whole As a member of the management community of MS Society to influence and implement the Society s direction of travel to meet our organisational objectives Key Relationships: Internal: The post holder works closely with all areas of the Society and with all departments especially Fundraising staff across the MS Society working to a common income goal Support and Services staff for cases for support on our work and impact Policy and Research for cases for support on our work and impact in service development External: The post holder will also liaise with the following groups: Directors and staff within corporate funders Organisations with whom we may make joint applications for funding Other fundraising peers to understand trends and best practice Key Accountabilities: The MS Society Corporate Fundraising Manager will support delivery of the Society s Fundraising Directorate strategy to deliver the MS Society s strategic goals by: 1. Business plan implementation 1a Lead and implement an organisation wide strategy for company engagement and giving 1b Operational leadership of function across the Society 1c Work alongside companies 2. People management 3. Financial management 4. Detailed Responsibilities: 1. Business plan implementation 70% Generate income from a portfolio of corporate fundraising relationships and activities to deliver or exceed budget income Planning and allocating work, monitoring achievement of deadlines, and supporting staff as appropriate Focussing the work of the team to implement business plans and contribute to the achievement of the Society s strategic aims and priorities Ensuring a clear focus on driving improvements in quality, impact and performance 1a Implement an organisation wide strategy for company engagement and giving (15%) Review, develop and implement the Society s UK wide strategy from company donors, in line with the Society s overall strategy for growing partnership income Review and develop through improvement and innovation the Society s restricted income processes to ensure they meet the needs of companies in their CSR, employee and corporate engagement and seek continuous improvements to the quality and output of the MS Society s UK-wide corporate fundraising programme taking account of strategic decisions; the requirements of our funders; legislative changes, trends in funding and best practice Promote and enable a positive culture of engagement that values the contribution from companies funding research through our Major Appeal, and services and support for people affected by MS 3

4 Develop quality standards taking account of best practice and the organisation s quality standards and ensure these standards are met Working with the Head of Finance, develop efficient processes which support the delivery of excellent reporting in line with agreed with corporate contracts 1b.Operational leadership of function across the Society (20%) Be the leading authority in proposals and opportunities for corporate engagement, providing advice on the strategy, to the Head of Partnership Fundraising, Appeal Director and Executive Director of Fundraising on new funders and new trends in income generation Lead the corporate fundraising activities across the UK to deliver income targets as agreed in the budget 1c.Working alongside donors and supporters (35%) With an agreed personal income target, to be personally responsible for managing the relationships with, and securing funding from, those companies capable at financially supporting us at the highest levels Using market research and funding insight to identify new companies, drive the preparation of company profiles and income generating activities Promote diversity and inclusion through a range of funding opportunities and products with and for people affected by MS Ensure guidance and support is available through the Supporter Services team for informal fundraising groups with respect to local company funding applications Manage and respond to complaints in line with the Society s policies and procedures and reviewing practice Undertake speaking engagements and be a spokesperson for the Society on fundraising from individual donors internally and externally where appropriate People Management 10% Managing performance and development, through regular feedback, supervision, supporting learning and the Performance development review process Recruiting and inducting new staff. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships across the team, department, directorate and Society. Budget Management 10% Accountable for the income generation of the corporate fundraising team including supporting the Head of Partnership Fundraising in effective budget preparation, planning, monitoring and review Accountable for the efficient and effective financial and resource management 4

5 Ensure the impact of the department s work is measured in financial terms as return on investment and life time values, and in other ways in accordance with the MS Society s policies/procedures/outcome measurement strategy Monitoring and Reporting on Performance 10% Accountable for the analysis and evaluation of the teams work performance information, monitoring and reporting against objectives, outcomes and KPIs Ensuring action is taken in a timely manner to enable corrective action to be taken Preparing reports for the restricted income programme board on the opportunities available for restricted income applications Ensuring the impact of the teams work is measured in accordance with the MS Society s outcomes framework General Compliance with MSS s governance procedures, MSS policies and guidelines. Contribute to a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are valued and staff are enabled to do their best Acting as project manager as required and contributing to relevant programmes and projects. Providing advice to the Executive Director on income generation matters including new ways of giving, trends and new funding opportunities. Other Duties To be prepared to travel to meetings across the UK and be away from home overnight, as the job reasonably demands To undertake any other works as could be expected of a Corporate Fundraising Manager Person Specification Qualifications A levels/equivalent qualification or A relevant, recognised professional qualification or Relevant professional experience, which demonstrates equivalent academic skills Evidence of continuous professional development Experience Proven experience of developing, communicating and implementing programmes of activity and 3 year business plans to prepare, present, win and report on corporate funding relationships and opportunities Proven experience of success in securing and managing six figure, multi-year corporate relationships 5

6 Proven planning and project management experience to control effective use of resources A proven track record of success in leading and managing a team of comparable size and complexity, to deliver high quality results to deadlines Experience of working in a senior team to develop, communicate and implement business plan Experience of applying effective problem solving techniques when the situation demands Demonstrable experience of impact reporting, use of evidence in applications and financial reporting Demonstrable experience of financial and budgetary management Experience of the issues facing organisations that work with people affected by a health condition, and those who know them Knowledge and skills Demonstrable evidence of up-to-date knowledge of best practice and new initiatives concerning corporate environment for income generation Ability to interpret, analyse and adapt highly complex information demonstrating how proposals meet companies requirements Exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to influence/persuade a wide range of stakeholders Detailed knowledge and understanding of the requirements of companies when engaging with charities Knowledge and understanding of the themes for partnerships and applications that meet companies ever changing requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of media and audiences The ability to focus on impact and deliver outstanding results in a team environment Evidence of ability to undertake complex negotiations on behalf of the Society with high level company staff to deliver on different partnerships and opportunities Demonstrable commitment to collaborative team work Demonstrable commitment to inclusive working, ensuring equality and valuing diversity The ability to manage change effectively Excellent organisational and workload management skills IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office Skills, CRM database skills, 6
