1 GREENPEACE NORDIC Job Description Form Department: Fundraising & IT Location: Copenhagen, Denmark Job title: Fundraising Manager Reports to: Fundraising and IT Director Level: Bb Fulltime General description/purpose of the job: The department's key responsibility is to maximise income from individual donors by inspiring and engaging supporters and building effective committed relationships. As part of Greenpeace's values we do not accept money from governments, corporations or political parties. The Fundraising department's aims to ensure a cost effective, ethical and sustainable fundraising base to meet the needs of Greenpeace in the Nordic region. Our objectives are to: - Achieve income and expenditure targets - Inspire and engage supporters - Secure effective, committed relationships - Achieve a diverse and secure fundraising base - Promote Greenpeace's campaign goals and objectives - Broaden the appeal of Greenpeace This full-time position based in Copenhagen is responsible for managing the fundraising department of Greenpeace in Denmark, and for working closely with colleagues across Nordic to investigate, test and evaluate new fundraising initiatives. The role s responsibilities include strategic planning, budget preparation and management, leading a team of professional and experienced fundraisers to achieve income and expenditure targets, and creating a diverse and secure fundraising base. Description of responsibilities Staff Management: Lead, motivate and manage a team of professional Fundraising staff, in line with the organisational aims and objectives, in order to ensure the effective performance of the unit Ensure staff development, training and performance reviews take place which leads to the enhancement of an individual s skills and expertise

2 Identify and develop leadership potential Recruit staff as necessary and manage the induction timetable to ensure an effective introduction to Greenpeace and the Fundraising Department Ensure that any HR issues relating to fundraising staff in country is handled in an effective, professional and timely manner. Budget Management: Lead the development of 3 year and annual income and expenditure budgets Monitor and authorise income and expenditure of these departmental budgets according to agreed objectives and the priorities of the department, in order to ensure cost effectiveness and strategic expenditure Provide monthly, quarterly, annual and long term budget reporting, including narratives and conclusions. Lead and provide the continuous re-forecasting of fundraising budgets to ensure targets are met and that wins or losses are identified early. Strategic Planning: Lead the ongoing long term development and implementation of the strategic fundraising plan to maximize fundraising opportunities in the Danish market. Lead the development of innovative techniques to attract new donors and to develop deepening and more relevant relationships with existing donors. Reporting and Analysis: Lead the development, presentation, implementation, tracking and regular reporting of the income and expenditure budgets. Ensure a data segmentation strategy that maximizes lifetime value by sending the right message, to the right donor, via the right channel, at the right time. Implement a data analysis strategy that will inform all fundraising activities Program Management: Provide strategic advice, strategic direction and problem solving and guidance of the following programs: - Acquisition: Face to Face, Online, Lead Generation and conversion, Direct Marketing, Reactivation and Recapture Telemarketing - Continuing Support: Supporter Care, Supporter Relationships, Appeals, Renewals, Upgrade Telemarketing - High Level Giving: Branded giving clubs, middle level and major gifts, legacies, trust and foundations - Other Fundraising: Collections and events, in memoriam and congratulations giving Lead Telemarketing across Nordic working with FRMs and fundraisers in country, supporting and guiding as necessary.

3 Public engagement: Together with the communications and web teams ensure that Greenpeace supporters are provided with consistent communications and opportunities to engage both offline and online. Other: Review and maintain fundraising systems and procedures Ensure that fundraising activities comply with the requirements of local legislation. Develop and maintain knowledge of banking, VAT and tax benefit aspects, to assess opportunities or threats within the fundraising programmes. Collaborate effectively with the communications department to ensure coherence with the communications strategy, and for cross departmental integration on aspects such as pro-bono work, web, and campaign communications Promote integration with campaign projects, to maximise potential impact on fundraising programmes, and develop supporter mobilisation. Description of Requirements Applied knowledge & skills Experience: At least 4 years experience in Fundraising leadership. Significant experience in managing high volume fundraising programs (both acquisition and retention). Knowledge of Data Analysis and Segmentation Experience in New Media Fundraising and High-end giving an advantage Education: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business or other associated field and /or equivalent work experience. Leadership qualities: Committed to furthering Greenpeace s campaign goals as well as the organizational development of Greenpeace Nordic. Able to inspire team spirit and resolve conflicts. Management qualities: Capacity to prepare and present detailed and realistic fundraising strategy. Able to support and guide staff, manage multiple projects, work to a timeline,

4 work with sensitive information, work with minimal supervision, deal with stressful situations and meet deadlines. Database and IT: Understanding of databases and new media technology Language: Fluent in Danish, Excellent English, Other Nordic languages an advantage Communication Apply a range of communication and interpersonal skills to interact with others on a number of issues of varying complexity. Ability to communicate effectively by demonstrating strong listening skills, and negotiation skills. Ability to accurately identify problems and quickly move to a satisfactory resolution. Participate and assist dialogue and skill sharing within the Danish Fundraising team as well as with the wider Greenpeace Nordic Fundraising & IT Department, and Greenpeace s international fundraising community. Maintain accurate information management systems and procedures to ensure open access by other fundraisers. Ensure that fundraising plans (objectives, activities, budget and time schedules) are communicated clearly and in timely manner within the organisation. Collaborate with Fundraising & IT Director to ensure fundraising plans and their potential impacts are fully understood. The purpose being to aid planning and preparation within the department which will ensure efficient and timely processing arising from such activities. Analysis & decision making Makes decisions that impact on the delivery and quality of work in the department within a framework of operational, professional or creative guidelines. Uses initiative and innovation to come up with recommendations or new working methods/ approaches in own area of work by interpreting information, concepts or data from diverse sources.

5 Ensure that all fundraising results are monitored and analysed on a weekly and monthly basis, and deliver long-term analysis of program/budgets delegated. Capable of setting up relevant benchmarks. Actively create requirements and identify needs for fundraising analysis that informs decisions regarding successful fundraising program development. Planning Responsible for planning and prioritizing workload. Where necessary the post holder may need to plan the work of in a team or working on a project. Identify and implement short and long term fundraising goals, based on the fundraising objectives of Greenpeace Nordic. Together with Fundraising Director, preparing of the overall strategic plans and budgets for the programme. Proactively develop and implement innovative long-term strategies for fundraising in accordance with Greenpeace principles, in order to ensure effective impact on the funding base of Greenpeace Nordic. Provide expertise and input as a member of a team on the development of global fundraising strategies, global fundraising projects ad funding proposals where relevant. Line management responsibility The post holder has line management responsibility for the Danish Fundraising team. Responsibility for resources Develop, monitor and authorize expenditure of the allocated fundraising budgets, according to agreed objectives and the priorities of the department, in order to ensure cost effectiveness and strategic expenditure. Other Cover for the line manager and other team members in their absence, in order to ensure the team continues to implement ongoing work and formulate strategies that support the agreed fundraising strategy. Undertake any other duties, appropriate to the position, as delegated by the line

6 manager, upholding a principle that at least 10% of the working time can be expected to be used on work outside one s own area. Provide support to other departments within Greenpeace as required. Participate in weekly office and other meetings in the department or all Nordic staff meetings. Manage any volunteers or interns if applicable.
