Yu need bth these items t perfrm an ffnetwrk installatin and activatin. The File Installatin Key identifies the prducts yu can install. The License File activates the installatin, identifying which prducts yu can run. The administratr cntact n the license can retrieve the File Installatin Key and License File by ging t the License Center at the MathWrks Web site. Make sure yu have the crrect permissins t perfrm the installatin. If yu have questins abut this, ask yur system administratr. Nte: While yu use an administratr accunt r rt privileges t install the sftware, yu typically d nt want t activate the sftware fr a privileged user. Specify the nn-privileged end user wh will use the sftware when yu activate it. Running MATLAB as a user with administratr privileges r rt privileges is nt recmmended. Windws Systems Get the name and passwrd f the administratr accunt n yur cmputer. The installer mdifies the system registry during installatin. Linux Systems Get the rt passwrd. Yu can install MATLAB sftware withut superuser privileges, hwever, it limits certain installatin ptins. Fr example, if yu want t setup symblic links t the matlab cmmand, install prduct files in a prtected flder, r edit the system bt script, yu must have superuser status. Macintsh Systems Get the name and passwrd f the administratr accunt n yur cmputer. The administratr accunt is the user accunt yu set up when yu cnfigured yur Macintsh system; this is nt yur MathWrks Accunt. During installatin, yu must enter this name and passwrd in the Authenticate dialg bx, shwn belw.

2 Cnsider disabling virus-checking sftware and Internet security applicatins n yur system fr the duratin f the installatin prcess. These applicatins can slw dwn the installatin prcess r cause it t appear unrespnsive (r t hang). If yu have an Internet cnnectin, fllw the instructins in Install MathWrks Prducts With an Internet Cnnectin. MathWrks recmmends installing and activating using an Internet cnnectin. Yu can use this prcedure t install ne f the standalne r netwrk license ptins. If yu use this with a netwrk license ptin, yu must specify the License File path and chse whether t cnfigure the license manager. See Install the License Manager n a Server fr mre infrmatin abut these additinal steps. Step 1: Start the Installer The methd yu use t start the installer depends n yur platfrm and whether yu are using a DVD r files yu dwnladed frm the MathWrks Web site. Windws DVD installatin Insert the DVD int the DVD drive cnnected t yur system. The installer usually starts autmatically. Dwnladed files Duble-click the installer file yu dwnladed frm the MathWrks Web site. The installer usually starts autmatically. Macintsh DVD installatin Insert the DVD int the DVD drive cnnected t yur system. When the DVD icn appears n the desktp, duble-click the icn t display the DVD cntents, and then duble-click the InstallFrMacOSX icn t begin the installatin. Dwnladed files Extract the files frm the archive file that yu dwnladed frm the MathWrks Web site and duble-click the InstallFrMacOSX file. Linux

3 DVD installatin Insert the DVD int the DVD drive cnnected t yur system and execute the fllwing cmmand: /path_t_dvd/install & Depending n hw yur system is cnfigured, yu might have t munt the DVD first. Make sure yu munt it with execute permissins, as in the fllwing example. Nte that the name f the DVD drive might be different n yur system. munt - exec /media/cdrm0 Dwnladed files Extract the files frm the archive file that yu dwnladed frm the MathWrks Web site and execute the installer cmmand:./install Step 2: Chse t Install Withut Using the Internet If yu d nt have an Internet cnnectin, select the Install withut using the Internet ptin and click Next. Step 3: Review the License Agreement Review the sftware license agreement and, if yu agree with the terms, select Yes and click Next.

4 Step 4: Specify the File Installatin Key If yu d nt have an Internet cnnectin, and chse t install manually, the installer displays the File Installatin Key dialg bx. A File Installatin Key identifies the prducts yu can install. If yu have the key, select the I have the File Installatin Key fr my license ptin, enter the File Installatin Key, and click Next. The administratr cntact n a license can retrieve the File Installatin Key frm the License Center at the MathWrks Web site. If yu d nt have the key, select the I d nt have the File Installatin Key ptin and click Next. The installer will prvide yu with the infrmatin yu need t get a key.

5 If Yu D Nt Have the File Installatin Key The Installatin and Activatin Next Steps dialg bx cntains the infrmatin yu need t retrieve yur File Installatin Key frm the License Center at the MathWrks Web site. This infrmatin includes: Hst ID Release number (fr example, R2013b) Operating system user name (Nte that user names are case-sensitive in activatin.)

6 T get yur File Installatin Key: 1. Remember the infrmatin displayed in this dialg bx and click Finish t exit the installer. On Windws and Linux systems, yu can click Print t print ut the infrmatin. 2. G t a cmputer with an Internet cnnectin and lg in t yur accunt at the MathWrks Web site. 3. Visit the License Center and enter the infrmatin frm this dialg bx. MathWrks uses this infrmatin t generate a File Installatin Key and License File fr yur license. 4. Return t yur cmputer and re-run the installer. With the File Installatin Key and a License File, yu can install and activate the sftware withut an Internet cnnectin. Step 5: Chse the Installatin Type In the Installatin Type dialg bx, specify whether yu want t perfrm a Typical r Custm installatin and click Next. Chse Typical if yu have an Individual r Grup license and d nt need t specify which prducts yu want t install and d nt need t access any installatin ptins. Chse Custm if yu need t specify which prducts t install, need access t installatin ptins, r need t install the license manager (netwrk license ptins nly).

7 If yu chse a Typical installatin, the installer skips the prduct selectin and installatin ptins steps. Step 6: Specify the Installatin Flder Specify the name f the flder where yu want t install MathWrks prducts. Accept the default installatin flder r click Brwse t select a different ne. If the flder desn't exist, the installer creates it. On Macintsh systems, the installer puts the MATLAB applicatin package, MATLAB_R2013b.app, in the Applicatins flder, by default. When specifying a flder name, yu can use any alphanumeric character and sme special characters, such as underscres. The installer tells yu if the name yu specified includes any characters that are nt permitted in flder names. If yu make a mistake while entering a flder name and want t start ver, click Restre Default Flder. After making yur selectin, click Next.

8 Step 7: Specify Prducts t Install (Custm Only) If yu are perfrming a custm installatin, yu can specify which prducts yu want t install in the Prduct Selectin dialg bx. This dialg bx lists all the prducts assciated with the license yu selected r with the Activatin Key yu specified. In the dialg bx, all the prducts are preselected fr installatin. If yu d nt want t install a particular prduct, clear the check bx next t its name. After selecting the prducts yu want t install, click Next t cntinue with the installatin.

9 Step 8: Specify Installatin Optins (Custm Only) Fr Custm installatins, yu can specify several installatin ptins, depending n yur platfrm. Windws Systems On Windws, the Installatin Optins dialg bx lets yu chse whether t put shrtcuts fr starting MATLAB in the Start menu and n the desktp. After selecting installatin ptins, click Next t prceed with the installatin.

10 Linux Systems On Linux systems, yu can specify whether yu want t create symblic links t the matlab and mex scripts. Specify a flder t which yu have write access and that is cmmn t all yur user's paths, such as /usr/lcal/bin. After selecting installatin ptins, click Next t prceed with the installatin.

11 Step 9: Cnfirm Yur Chices and Begin Cpying Files Befre it begins installing the sftware n yur hard disk, the installer displays a summary f yur installatin chices. T change a setting, click Back. T prceed with the installatin, click Install. As it install the files, the installer displays a status dialg bx t shw the prgress f the installatin.

12 Step 10: Cmplete the Installatin When the installatin successfully cmpletes, the installer displays the Installatin Cmplete dialg bx. In this dialg bx, yu can chse t activate the sftware yu just installed. Yu cannt use the sftware yu installed until yu activate it. MathWrks recmmends activating immediately after installatin. Click Next t prceed with activatin. If yu chse t exit the installer withut perfrming activatin, clear the Activate MATLAB ptin and click Finish (the buttn label changes). Yu can activate later using the activatin applicatin.
