Acceptance int this prestigius tw-year prgram prvides schlars with pprtunities fr persnal develpment, individualized academic and mentring supprt geared twards achieving a timely graduatin, increased scial awareness and an enriched university experience. Schlars are awarded financial assistance frm the Greater Texas Fundatin based n individual need after all ther frms f financial aid have been accessed (i.e. grants, schlarships, etc.) with the ptin t add a third year f funding. Applicants t the GTF Schlars Prgram must meet specific criteria which includes: being a 2016 graduate f a Texas Early Cllege High Schl with a minimum f 30 t 60 cllege credit hurs and a minimum cumulative GPA f 2.7 (n a fur-pint system) fr cllege hurs earned; qualify fr admissin t the University f Texas Ri Grande Valley; and be eligible t receive federal financial assistance thrugh FAFSA. Schlarship awards vary frm semester t semester based n the student s financial aid package. Acceptance int the GTF Schlars prgram is a cmpetitive prcess. The amunt f students that are accepted is limited, s nt all students wh apply will be selected. Once accepted int the prgram, students must cmplete all prgram requirements t cntinue participating in this prgram. Persnal Statement Part 3 A persnal statement shuld prvide the schlarship cmmittee with a brief prtrait f wh yu are as a persn, a student, and why yu believe participating in this schlars prgram wuld help yu accmplish yur shrt and lng term gals. Include a shrt synpsis f yur persnal backgrund, why yu chse t study at an Early Cllege High Schl, examples f academic achievement and academic and prfessinal gals, cmmunity invlvement, and identify ne challenge r bstacle yu vercame during high schl and hw yu addressed the issue. Frmat: The essay shuld be n less than ne but n mre than tw pages in length, 12-pint fnt, Times New Rman fnt, and duble-spaced with ne-inch margins. Persnal statements will be reviewed fr cntent and writing skill. Recmmendatin Frms Part 4 Submit tw recmmendatin frms with yur applicatin. Recmmendatin frms need t be in a sealed envelpe with the recmmender signature acrss the seal. Recmmendatin frms shuld be prvided by a teacher, cunselr, r schl fficial that can vuch fr yur ptential as a successful cllege student. N mre than tw frms will be accepted.
