EDHS Cllege Fair April 29 th, 2015 East Detrit High Schl will be hsting a Cllege Fair n April 29 th frm 6:30-8:30. It will be in the evening and held in the cafeteria and media center. This is a free event that is pen t all middle and high schl students and their families! Public and private clleges frm thrughut the state f Michigan will be sending representatives t answer yur questins and share infrmatin abut their schls and prgrams. It will be an infrmative evening fr yu and yur student.

We als encurage students t cntact the financial aid ffice f the cllege(s) yu are planning t attend t see if yu qualify fr any schlarships they ffer. Schlarship searches are a great way t find pprtunities yu may be eligible fr. Schlarship search websites can be fund n the EDHS Cunseling website under Cllege Infrmatin Schlarships. Anther great resurce is t seek ut schlarships that may be available thrugh rganizatins yur parents/family belng t. Sme examples include emplyers, assciatins/clubs, religius rganizatins, unins, ethnic affiliatins, and/r military services. Always be aware f DEADLINE DATES!

Michigan Oil and Gas Prducers Educatin Fundatin The Michigan Oil & Gas Prducers Educatin Fundatin spnsrs a schlarship prgram fr Michigan high schl senir students accepted fr enrllment at a Michigan university r cmmunity cllege, having a minimum grade pint average f 3.0 (cmputed n a 4.0 scale), and demnstrating financial need. Qualified applicants must als be pursuing a degree in a field f study which will allw them t btain full time emplyment in the crude il and natural gas industry. There will be schlarships with a minimum f $500 t be paid directly t the university r cllege where the applicant is enrlled. Applicatins can be fund n the cunseling website r picked up in the cunseling ffice. Due April 2, 2015 Brandn Bnkwski Schlarship Schlarship 1 Available t Michigan high schl senirs, r current undergraduate students wh have been accepted at a university r cmmunity cllege, r trade schl, wh have had t vercme sme frm f learning disability, i.e. A.D.D., A.D.H.D., Asperger s Syndrme, dyslexia r similar challenge. ($1, award). These applicants shuld write a wrd essay explaining the disability, and hw they have persevered t vercme it. Schlarship 2 Available t Michigan undergraduate students enrlled full time in a university r cmmunity cllege carrying a GPA f 2.5 r better. T qualify, applicants must be eligible t enrll r be currently enrlled at a tw- r fur-year accredited cllege r university with a full curse f undergraduate study r a vcatinal-technical schl. Applicants must als have a minimum 2.5 GPA. This schlarship is design-based and t apply applicants will be required t submit dcumentatin f a hands-n prject that illustrates creativity and innvatin. Award - $5,000 Due - March 31, Herbert Lehman Schlarship This schlarship is fr high schl senirs, high schl graduates and currently enrlled cllege freshman. T qualify fr this schlarship, applicants must be planning t attend r be currently attending an accredited furyear cllege r university. Applicants must be f excellent character and be able t present strng academic recrds, test scres, and persnal essays. Applicants must have a demnstrable recrd f cmmunity and schl invlvement that reveals exceptinal leadership ptential with a capacity t wrk well in diverse settings. Mrever, they must prvide strng recmmendatins frm teachers, cmmunity representatives, r emplyers. Nn-US citizens are eligible fr this schlarship. Award - $2,000 Due March 31, Wrldstudi AIGA Schlarship This schlarship is fr students wh are majring in and pursuing an undergrad r graduate degree in advertising (art directin nly), fine arts, graphic design, illustratin, interactive design/mtin graphics, and phtgraphy. High schl senirs are eligible, prvided they can prvide prf f enrllment in a cllege r university fr the fall 2015/spring 2015 academic year. Applicants must be enrlled full-time, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and demnstrate financial need. T qualify fr this schlarship, applicants must be US citizens r green card hlders. Thugh nt a requirement, minrity status is a significant factr cnsidered in the award decisins. Applicatins pen 2/1. Award - $500 t $5000. Due March 27.

I have been wrking fr East Detrit Public Schls since I taught at bth Warrendale and Crescentwd Elementary until I taught a variety f levels including first, secnd, third and furth grades. I started my career as a cunselr at Kellwd Alternative High Schl and spent a year there as the cunselr fr grades I was transferred t EDHS fr the schl year. Favrite Things! Hliday? Thanksgiving Mvie?
