1 JOB DESCRIPTION ST62 JOB TITLE: Trainer Facilitator - Plumbing RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Section Section/Service: Building Services & Renewables Reports to: Head of Section Salary: TF 1 6 Scope and responsibilities: Instruct/facilitate learning for students enrolled on a range of programmes as assigned by the Section Head. Assess students as appropriate by al or inal method as required by external examining bodies and internal procedures. Contribute to curriculum development and implementation of pastoral and welfare systems provided for students. Continue personal development in the areas of both subject knowledge and teaching/instructing methods. Develop and maintain good working relationships with external and internal customers. Undertake such duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with grade at initial place of work or at other locations in the College "catchment" area. Key Tasks 1. Facilitating Learning 1.1 Instruct and facilitate learning for students. 1.2 Prepare and select learning materials to ensure an appropriate range of delivery methods to support learning. 1.3 Facilitate learning by the selection of materials and methods appropriate to student needs and course level. 1.4 Contribute to the planning and review of learning programmes and the curriculum, including the development of key resources. 1.5 Provide initial guidance of learners as appropriate.

2 1.6 Review and in learning / assessment plans and targets for learners as required. 1.7 Participate in curriculum reviews to continuously improve innovation and change in response to college or external agency needs or demands. 1.8 Co-operate in the development of activities related to courses for which the postholder has been assigned responsibility. 1.9 Implement curriculum change resulting from innovation and development Promote equal opportunities at all times. 2. Quality 2.1 Participates in all aspects of Quality Assurance team meetings and planning as appropriate. 2.2 Contribute to the review of programme data and implementation of improvement strategies as part of an ongoing self-assessment process. 2.3 Ensure compliance with awarding body regulations and standards. 2.4 Ensure quality assurance documentation, procedures and processes are adhered to. 3. Assessment 3.1 Assess learner s work, contributing to the verification / moderation process. 3.2 Support as appropriate the delivery of APL within the Section. 3.3 Work with the team to assess student work. 4. Pastoral and Welfare 4.1 Attend parents evenings. 4.2 Support in the supervision of visits. 4.3 Maintain learner discipline in accordance with College policy. 4.4 Promotes the agreed College Policies for Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Smoking and any other policies which the College adopts for the welfare of employees, students and visitors, by implementing appropriate procedures and practices. 4.5 Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with health and safety rules and policies.

3 4.6 Ensure student safety, particularly on practical activities and fieldwork. 5. Personal Development 5.1 Assist with the dissemination of particular expertise through contribution to staff development activities. 5.2 Demonstrate a commitment to your own personal and professional development. 5.3 Establish, maintain and develop good working relationships with colleagues. 5.4 Participate as required in the College Appraisal System. 5.5 Establish "industrial links", as appropriate or when required, to develop understanding and knowledge of subject related industrial and professional activities. 5.6 Develop and maintain good working relationship with external and internal customers. 6. Administration 6.1 Attend course meetings as required. 6.2 Undertake marketing activities and act as an ambassador of South Devon College at all times. 6.3 Administer appropriate records, inventories, registers and timetables so that they are accurate and available on demand to college administration and external agencies. 6.4 Is responsible for stock control, pro-active ordering and servicing, and setting up for colleagues and assists with the security of equipment and materials contained within the Section as and where required. 6.5 Undertakes ongoing responsibility for equipment and materials to a level and standard required by the Head of Section and Section Team. Other Duties The post holder may be required to per duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the

In case, however, where a permanent and substantial change in the duties and responsibilities of the post occurs, then the post would be eligible for reevaluation.

5 PERSON SPECIFICATION FACTORS ESSENTIAL HOW MEASURED QUALIFICATIONS & NVQ 2 or equivalent in plumbing, TRAINING Heating or Gas. UNDERTAKEN If not already held, to attain a teaching Certificates qualification as specified by the Institute for Learning (IfL) within 3 years and be working towards achieving ATLS within 5 years. WORK EXPERIENCE Commercial experience preferably within the mechanical engineering or manufacturing industry in a supervisory role. SKILLS/SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE Computer literate and familiar with word-processing, spreadsheet and database systems Familiar with health & safety monitoring, Risk assessments, Cossh assessments and pat testing. DISPOSITION Able to work unsupervised have a logical approach to problem solving. Flexible and able to respond to changing working hours Ability to communicate with students of all age groups ADDITIONAL FACTORS SPECIFIC TO THIS JOB Work as part of a team contributing to student. Developments. Willing to undertake Staff Development as necessary and have a commitment to equal opportunities References DESIRABLE Possess TDLB units 32 & 33 or A1 Award qualification. Nationally recognised plumbing qualification at level 3. Industry experience Experience working with trainees Knowledge of qualifications, apprenticeship frameworks and awarding bodies Be flexible and able to respond to changing working hours.
