1 Job Description Post Number: Job Title: Responsible to: Responsible for: TBC Curriculum Leader Principal Performance and management of a team of tutors/lecturers within the curriculum area in agreement with the Principal and be responsible for cross College function as agreed and monitored through annual target setting and regular review. General Purpose and Scope of the Post 1. To be responsible for specific cross College function and projects managing the implementation of an agreed vision and strategy based on the College s priorities. 2. To be accountable for successful implementation of the cross College function and associated projects within the agreed timeline and budget. 3. To manage the relevant curriculum area ensuring a high quality, cost effective, efficient and legally compliant curriculum is provided or commissioned in a culture in which innovation is encouraged, high performance is recognised and success is celebrated whilst also contributing to the overall achievement and outcomes and the success of the Curriculum and the College. 4. To liaise with Curriculum staff within the learning area and across other Curriculum areas, as well as support staff to facilitate the smooth organisation and effective utilisation of staffing and physical resources to optimise the student learning experience. 5. To ensure recruitment, retention and achievement of learners are fully supported and facilitated. 6. To be responsible for the management of the learning programmes as agreed with the Principal including the staff, supporting the co-ordination of finances and learning resources allocated to the curriculum area. 2 General Duties and Responsibilities 7. To manage the relevant curriculum area and be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of innovative and market-led learning programmes ensuring their viability and value for money, quality and effectiveness in line with the College Strategic Plan and Policies. 8. To support the Principal in ensuring statutory, regulatory, and key operational issues related to the management of the curriculum across all learning areas of responsibility is adhered to. 9. To implement an effective model of standards, professionalism and positive culture through strong leadership and building effective, efficient, flexible and capable curriculum delivery teams ensuring the achievements of the curriculum area targets in support of the College s Strategic Objectives and direction of the curriculum development. 10. To oversee and ensure the full and consistent implementation of SCOLA s Quality Assurance Framework and plan on-going quality improvements that will result in the highest standards of student attendance, retention, completion, achievement and progression ensuring all curriculum areas are always inspection ready. 11. To conduct appropriate audit checks including Internal Verification, Moderation and review where appropriate. 12. To implement a wide range of teaching and student-centred learning strategies across the curriculum area that ensures the most effective learning, continuation, achievement and progression of students, as well as the most effective use of teaching time and other resources. 13. To teach on an appropriate range of courses for a min of 180 hours over the course of the year to a range of student groups in accordance with the College Learning & Teaching Policy and Ofsted requirements. 14. To ensure that all delivery teams, and in particular individual tutors are clear, focused and supported to be able to deliver high quality learning and teaching resulting in high success and achievement rates for each funding stream throughout the curriculum area. 15. To ensure, where appropriate, initial assessments in literacy and numeracy are comprehensively completed and used to guide learners on to the most suitable programme for their ability. 16. To ensure Learning Support is effectively integrated into courses in order that the work may be contextualised to the vocational area where appropriate. 17. To ensure compliance with all course examination, assessment and validation requirements for the FE provision and RARPA requirements for the ACL provision. 18. To liaise and work effectively with the full range of support services to ensure marketing, enrolment and support enhances the curriculum offering and recruitment including supporting planned marketing and promotional events. 3 19. To foster new partnerships and pursue new market opportunities in line with the College s Strategic Plan and under the direction of the Principal. 20. To work collaboratively on cross College or cross College/department projects and activities in liaison with the Principal to develop and enhance innovative and improved ways of working for the benefit of learners. 21. To take personal responsibility for own professional development in consultation with line manager, and be proactive and willing to invest in his/her own development subject to the availability of appropriate resources and job/organisational requirements. 22. To be responsible for Health & Safety and Safeguarding issues in relevant curriculum areas and own work. 23. To be responsible for creating an inclusive, non-discriminatory learning environment in line with the College s Equality policy. 24. To participate in the College s continuous review (appraisal) scheme including the 360 feedback and work towards achievement and/or exceeding of targets set - including carrying out the formal appraisal of appropriate staff. 25. Have a sound, up-to-date knowledge and experience of policies, initiatives and developments of post 16 Education and training including Adult Education. How assessed 2. Proven track record and experience of managing people to achieve excellent standards in teaching and learning. 3. An excellent classroom teacher with up to date teaching practice with the ability to achieve excellence in teaching and learning across the area of responsibility and able to create a stimulating learning environment. 4. Experience of contributing towards successful curriculum development and innovation resulting in improved efficiency and effectiveness of provision and the College. 5. Successful track record in improving the quality of standards and teaching /T and learning demonstrating the ability to innovate, motivate and inspire teams to achieve. 6. Experience of Ofsted Inspections and the Common Inspection Framework, /T External verification, audits and other regulatory checks related to the delivery of a varied curriculum. 7. Experience of working with external partners and stakeholders. /T 8. Experience of sound resource management including budgetary responsibility and accountability. 9. A track record of successfully developing and managing Quality Assurance projects that has resulted in marked improvement of the performance within the curriculum or.
