1 Tally Ho: A Place to Meet Project Outline Tally Ho Corner in North Finchley has a rich history, first as a staging post for horse changes on coaches from London to Birmingham, then as the site of the Gaumont Theatre (cinema), more recently a bus terminal and arts centre. In autumn 2014 artsdepot celebrates its tenth birthday. As such, we want to engage audiences and local communities in a celebratory project connecting different generations through shared memories, and contributing to heritage learning and local archives. Project aims: Seek donations of photos and artefacts for a heritage exhibition that will run within our tenth birthday season. The exhibition will include a new artistic commission inspired by the bas-relief carving on the Gaumont Cinema and developed with the local community. Commission an archivist to work in partnership with the Finchley Society and local volunteers researching the history of the Tally Ho Coach Company then bring the stories to life through a theatrical re-enactment with filmed excerpts added to an online archive. Train local young people to record memories of older people of the Gaumont Cinema, creating audio files for the online archive. To work with young people to capture the Tally Ho site as it appears today through oral and visual footage. A new Tally Ho History online archive (micro-site) linked from the Finchley Society website bringing together the different project strands. The project will be delivered between April and November 2014.

2 Project Manager (freelance) Job description Purpose of Post To manage, develop, co-ordinate and monitor a heritage project. The role oversees the work undertaken by an archivist, an artist and theatre practitioner. The role includes working with funding bodies, stakeholders, partner organisations including the Finchley Society, colleagues at artsdepot and the general public. Reports to: Participation Manager Management of: Archivist, Artist, Theatre Director (all freelance) Member of: Programming & Participation Department The project delivery is to take place between April and November As part of this role we are seeking a candidate to be based at artsdepot 2 days per week. Principal Responsibilities To support the Participation Manager to recruit an appropriate and experienced freelance team. To support the freelance team to deliver on the three different strands of the project, managing communications with volunteers, participants and project partners. Develop project management systems ensuring all required spaces and facilities are booked including rehearsal & performance spaces, workshop/ study space and display space. To understand the technical requirements of three project strands, conduct risk reviews, ensure dialogue & collaboration across the projects ensuring successful project timetabling. Liaise with artsdepot s marketing and communication teams to recruit volunteers & participants, to seek donated/ lent heritage items, and to promote the exhibition, performances and project celebration. Ensure that any physical items (lent or donated) are recorded, kept secure, and either returned to their owners or found an appropriate home with a local host/ archive. To work with the Finchley Society and colleagues at artsdepot to ensure the heritage learning is embedded in an appropriate online archive linked from the Finchley Society website, work closely with web designer and marketing

3 representatives of Finchley Society and artsdepot. Ensure links from artsdepot s website about us section. Work with youth groups recruiting young volunteers and then find appropriate opportunities for them to interview older people to learn their stories about the Gaumont Cinema and ensure relevant training is provided by the archivist. To work with artsdepot s youth panel to capture the Tally Ho site as it appears today through oral and visual footage. To oversee the installation of the heritage exhibition, and co-ordination and delivery of a private view event. To be responsible for sourcing appropriate materials for an online archive appropriate for a family audience. To put in place an evaluation framework and support monitoring and funder reporting. Health and Safety, Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults policies Ensure all work is carried out within required Health and Safety legislation and within artsdepot s Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policies, that all staff work within the Health and Safety policy, and that all external staff working on projects are police checked prior to commencement of their duties. Conduct risk assessments, write Health and Safety Action Plans, implement appropriate training activities for project staff and maintain up to date knowledge on health and safety best practice and working with young people. Ensure any exhibitions and installations are carried out within Health and Safety legislation in consultation with our Operations team. 4 Personal Specification Essential Passionate about live performance, visual arts, heritage learning and the arts in general Demonstrable and proven track record in arts management and participation in a similar/complimentary environment Educated to degree standard with excellent written and spoken communication skills; fully computer literate and numerate A professional appearance and the social skills necessary to deal with a range of clients along with the self confidence and stature to represent artsdepot Excellent project management skills with the ability to deliver to a deadline and on budget Ability to set and work within a budget and oversee other members of the project teams budget responsibilities Good standard of literacy and comprehension Ability to prioritise and work under pressure with good time management and organisational expertise Energetic, creative team player with a high level of enthusiasm Diplomatic and compassionate nature complimentary to the environment this role sits within Willingness to work flexibly and in particular be available for client contact which will require some evening and weekend work Knowledge of digital and new technology developments
