1 Enterprise Support Care Worker Easingwold Job Description and Person Specification JOB TITLE RESPONSIBLE TO SALARY BAND LOCATION Enterprise Support Care Worker Printing Easiworks Commercial Manager Easiworks, Easingwold York s to HR Interviews Social Care Support Worker appointed to new post by/start date Mission To provide innovative and Person Centred solutions for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities irrespective of where and how they live, to improve their quality of life and to etend and eercise their rights to access more control over their lives. Organisation Autism Plus is a charity committed to improving the life of people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities. The charity was formed in 1986 by a group of parents of autistic children. Autism Plus offers a range of services, including Residential, Supporting Living, Respite, Adult Learning/Day Service, Community Support, Social Enterprise and Domiciliary Care. Autism Plus is a member of The Adsetts Partnership (TAP), which offers collaboration opportunities with like-minded voluntary sector agencies on a wide range of initiatives, from major government contracts through to local projects which will provide a one-stop-shop range of services. Job summary To work within the Mission, Vision and Values of Autism Plus and the aims and objectives of the service. To work as part of the social enterprise team within the Easiworks Unit for people who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition, and associated disabilities. To promote equal opportunities. To represent Autism Plus and be responsible for upholding high standards. To communicate effectively, maintaining good working relationships and promoting an atmosphere of support and encouragement.

2 Key responsibilities 1 To oversee the learning, development and work eperience opportunities in order to promote the physical, emotional and social well-being of service users 2 To work alongside services users to encourage maimum productivity and achieve commercial objectives within the print department and, if required, within any of the social enterprises at Easiworks or Ampleforth Plus 3 Support and identify print opportunities that are commercially viable and generate a surplus 4 Demonstrate a commitment to the development of social enterprise generally 5 Assist with the development of a range of task orientated learning opportunities 6 Actively support team working opportunities 7 Ensure that the health & safety policy and procedures are adhered to and promote non-discriminatory practices Specific Responsibilities 1 To ensure that service delivery is monitored and recorded accurately and competently to the agreed quality standards and policy and procedure. 2 To observe and monitor the service users emotional and physical wellbeing and to inform relevant staff and agencies of any concerns or significant changes in their needs, behaviour and circumstances adhering to the Mental Capacity Act and Autism Plus Safeguarding policy and procedure 3 To ensure that emergencies and incidents are responded to promptly and appropriately within Autism Plus policy and reporting procedures and to maintain the welfare and safety of service users [and staff] with due regard to accident reporting, risk assessment, due diligence, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 4 To assist with the identification of need and recruitment of volunteers within the print department 5 To take day to day responsibility for managing and delegating work to the volunteers within the print department ensuring satisfactory performance. Administration 1 Ensure that adequate records are kept for each service user in line with Autism Plus policies and procedures including the completion of daily journals 2 Protect confidentiality of personal information and ensure that the information is only disclosed to those who have a right and need to know 2 of 6

3 3 Provide verbal and written reports to management as and when required 4 In line with statutory requirements and following good practice, write service user and associated reports and attend reviews as required 5 Maintain records of untoward incidents and accidents 6 Attend meetings at the request of management Support to Service Users 1 To assist in ensuring that the environment is safe and responsive to individual needs 2 To support the service users, enabling them to integrate with each other and members of the staff team 3 To ensure that medication is administered and recorded as prescribed. To organise safe procedures for the collection, storage and administration of medication within Autism Plus guidelines 4 To monitor the health and well-being of the service users in liaison with other relevant professionals 5 To ensure that the highest levels of performance and standards of work are achieved, in line with CQC outcomes and Autism Plus policies and procedures 6 Ensure that service users receive the necessary care and support to enable them to take an active part in the range of work related tasks available and promote Person Centred Planning and BILD at all times 7 To ensure that service users are enabled to become as independent as possible and to grow in confidence, competence and personal effectiveness. To achieve this through the provision of practical assistance, support, teaching, advice, role modelling, encouragement and positive feedback. 8 Ensure that appropriate procedures and practices are implemented and maintained so that the individual service user and group needs are effectively assessed and identified and that individual care / support plans are developed and implemented to meet these 9 Ensure that Individual Service Agreements are maintained and that individuals have access to the Complaints Procedure. To act in service users best interests at all times 10 Safeguarding knowledge awareness and understanding of the Safeguarding policies and procedures. Attend training including Mental Capacity and Best Interest 11 Learn and use appropriate methods of communication e.g. Makaton. TEACCH 12 Ensure that the personal belongings of service users are treated with respect 3 of 6

4 13 Ensure the needs of the service users are considered at all times, taking into consideration their autism and any other sensory, physical or learning disabilities. (This includes personal care) 14 Develop constructive relationships with service users to enhance their confidence, personal development and general sense of wellbeing 15 Together with service users and members of the staff team, assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual support/care plans in order to enhance and maimise the capabilities and independence of the service users 16 Assist in planning and pursuing agreed strategies to support and alleviate behaviour that presents challenge Teamwork Participate in promoting a team approach at all times. Be polite, courteous and supportive to all team members Greet all visitors and manage their epectations Be fleible in accordance with the needs of the weekly rota. Be available to cover leave (sickness, annual, etc). Assist in the induction of new staff. Work in accordance with training and agreed policies, practices and procedures. Participate in and contribute to staff meetings. Support colleagues in difficult or potentially difficult situations within the workplace. Ensure issues of concern are elevated to a more knowledgeable member of staff if the situation requires specific epertise. Personal Development Attend supervision and appraisal meetings and have a willingness to be accountable and develop as a valued team member. To undertake training as required. This may include attending training courses outside your place of work. General Work to agreed standards in line with Autism Plus policies and procedures. Have a fleible attitude to working arrangements. Any other duties as reasonably requested, relative to the objectives of the post. 5 PERSON SPECIFICATION Social Care Support Worker Qualifications NVQ level II in Health & Social Care Eperience Eperience of challenging behaviour Relevant eperience working in the care/support field Full, clean, current driving licence.
