When the key is allcated tw functins, press the right r left side f the key t select the crrespnding functin. Display key assignment depends n the perating status. Inserting the batteries The handset is supplied with the apprved batteries. The batteries are nt charged. They are charged in the handset. Nte: Please bserve the safety ntes n the back cver! Only use apprved batteries Page 17! Always replace bth batteries at the same time and nly use tw batteries f the same type/ frm the same manufacturer! Open the battery cmpartment in a dust-free envirnment nly. Yur telephne directry entries and all settings remain stred even if yu remve the batteries. The date and time settings will be reset. Only remve the batteries if they are defective. The battery s life diminishes each time it is remved. 1. If attached: remve the attachment clip Insert a screwdriver between the attachment clip and the battery cver (1) and frce the attachment clip utward (2) until it disldges. 1 2 Als disldge and remve the clip n the ppsite side.

15 Putting the Handset int Operatin Opening the battery cmpartment Press yur index finger int the recess and pull the battery cver upward. 3. Inserting the batteries Insert the batteries making sure the ples are facing the crrect directin (see schematic diagram). The ples are indicated in r n the battery cmpartment Clsing the battery cmpartment Insert the battery cver first with the lateral recesses n the tip f the inside f the husing. Then press the cver until it snaps int place.

16 16 Putting the Handset int Operatin Charging and using the batteries T charge the batteries, insert the handset int the charging shell with the keypad facing frwards. Attentin: Only use the relevant apprved pwer supply units fr perating the charging shell (fr rder numbers see Page 86). The charging status is indicated by the charge status display. This flashes during charging: = Battery flat e Battery 33% charged V Battery 66% charged U Battery 100% charged Nte: Initial charging: Charge the batteries fr at least 10 hurs withut a break, regardless f the charging status icn. Withut replacing it in the charging shell, use the handset until the "battery lw" beep is heard. This actin aligns the charge status display with the perating times f the batteries. T attain full perating and charging times Page 16: Withut replacing it in the charging shell, use the handset until the "battery lw" beep is heard. Fr future charging: yu can place yur handset in the charging shell each time it is used. Charging is electrnically cntrlled which ensures that the batteries are charged ptimally. Assembling plastic cver Use the supplied plastic cver fr the headset prt t achieve ptimum sund in speakerphne mde. Cnnecting a headset Once the plastic cver has been remved, yu can cnnect a headset t the left side f the handset using a 2.5 mm jack. The headset vlume is the same as the vlume set fr the earpiece Page 20. Replace the plastic cver after using the headset t achieve ptimum sund in speakerphne mde.

20 20 Setting up the handset Setting up the handset Yu can change the standard settings f the handset if yu are nt happy with them. Setting the vlume During the call p ø ø r t r Save r Yu can set the vlume f the earpiece r when in speakerphne mde during a call by pressing the side vlume keys. The crrespnding vlume can be set regardless f whether yu are making the call using the earpiece r in speakerphne mde. Yu are n a call. Press the side vlume keys t pen the Handset Vlume menu. Adjust earpiece r speakerphne vlume. Press the cntrl key t view the Handset Vlume menu. Set earpiece r speakerphne vlume. Save the settings. The setting is saved autmatically after apprx. three secnds. 23 Setting up the handset 23 Setting ringing tnes and pictures with resurce directry The resurce directry f the handset manages sunds which yu can use as a ringtne and images (CLIP images and screensavers) which yu can use as a caller image r screensaver; Prerequisite: Caller ID (CLIP). The resurce directry can manage the fllwing media types: Type Frmat Sunds: Ringtnes Mnphne Plyphne imprted sunds Images: CLIP image Screensaver internal internal internal WMA, MP3, WAV BMP, JPG, GIF 128 x 86 pixel 128 x 160 pixel Yur handset cmes with a number f mn- and plyphne sunds and images pre-installed. Yu can play the available sunds and view the images. Yu can dwnlad images and sunds frm yur PC Page 77. If yu have saved an image in an invalid frmat, yu get an errr message when yu select the file.

Caller Pictures Sunds s t Optins Select the entry. Press the display key. If an image/sund is lcked (è), the ptins are nt available. s t Rename [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. The name f the entry can be mdified. Length: up t 16 characters. Then cnfirm yur entry. r s t Delete Entry [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. The entry is deleted. Checking the available memry Yu can view the remaining memry available. v Open the handset s main menu. u v Resurce Directry [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Available Memry [ Select the menu item and cnfirm.

Activating the ringer * Hld dwn the key until a cnfirmatin tne is emitted. Activating r deactivating the warning tne Instead f a ringtne yu can activate a warning tne. When a call arrives, yu will hear a shrt beep instead f the ringer setting. If the handset is in a call pickup grup, a pickup call is als signaled by the warning tne. Activating the warning tne * Hld dwn the key until a cnfirmatin tne is emitted. Beep n Press the Display key within three secnds. The warning tne is activated. The vlume f the warning tne is cupled with the vlume f the external ringer. Deactivating the warning tne * Hld dwn the key until a cnfirmatin tne is emitted. v Activating/deactivating autmatic call answering This functin allws yu t accept calls by remving the handset frm the charging shell. Open the handset s main menu. u v Settings Ï [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Telephny [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. Nte: Can be set nly when the menu item is visible. T change see Page 28. s t Aut Answer Select the menu item. Edit Press the display key. The activated functin is ticked (³) and can be deactivated by selecting it nce mre.

The handset date and time are autmatically set when yu set up a call t anther statin. If yur cmmunicatin system des nt supprt this functin, yu can set the date and time manually. Open the handset s main menu. u v Settings Ï [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Date/Time [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. Time r: then: If the date and time have nt yet been set: Press the display key. Enter the date, fr example = s Mve the cursr dwn ne line. Enter the time, fr example, 19:05 = Save Save the settings. Nte: If yur cmmunicatin system des nt autmatically set the date and time, yu must check the setting frm time t time and if necessary, crrect it. Display settings A number f ptins are available fr setting the display. Yu can set the screensaver (screen picture), the clr scheme, the fnt size and the display lighting. Yu can als change the name displayed fr the base statin. v Screensaver In idle mde yu can view an image frm the resurce directry Page 23 r set the time as a screensaver. It replaces the display in idle mde. This cvers up the calendar, date, time ad name. The screensaver is nt displayed in certain situatins, e. g. during a call r if the handset is nt registered. Digital Clck and Analg Clck respectively displays the time as a screensaver acrss the full display. The selected screensaver is displayed. Save the settings. v Clr scheme Fur clr schemes are saved n yur handset. By selecting a clr scheme yu define the clrs t be used fr the fnt, menu items and backgrund. If yu change t a different clr scheme during a setting, it is immediately previewed t shw hw it will appear later fr all menus. Open the handset s main menu. u v Ï Settings [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Display [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. s t Clur Schemes [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. s t Selectin Select the entry. Press the display key. v Lighting Yu can activate r deactivate the display lighting regardless f whether the handset is in the base/charging r nt. If it is activated, the display illuminates cntinuusly at reduced intensity. If the display lighting is deactivated, when any key is tuched the screen illuminates. In this case the key has n ther functin. 28 28 Setting up the handset v Setting the cnversin list fr vcard transfer Phne numbers are usually specified as fllws in prgrams, such as, Micrsft Outlk: +49 (05251) The handset hwever cannt use this frmat t dial the number. If the number abve is a lcal landline number, it is then changed as fllwed when dialed e. g The cnversin pairs are defined in the cnversin table and can be mdified if they deviate frm the default values. Cnsult yur system administratr abut the cnversin rules that apply t yur handset. Open the handset s main menu. u v Ï Settings [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Telephny [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. Nte: Can be set nly when the menu item is visible. T change see Page 28. s t Area Cdes [ Select the menu item and cnfirm. The cnversin table is displayed. Save a Change entry. Press the up/dwn navigatin key t navigate t anther input field; Press the left/right navigatin key t mve the cursr within an input field. Save setting. Press the n-hk key several times t end the peratin. The call is accepted. a r k End a call Press the n-hk key briefly r place the handset in the charging shell. The call charges are displayed, depending n the cmmunicatin system. Activating r deactivating the keypad lck This feature prtects against accidentally pressing buttns when the handset is in a pcket, fr example. The keypad lck turns ff autmatically when a call cmes in and turns back n when the call has ended. # Press the hash key until the activatin r deactivatin is cnfirmed by a crescend tne sequence. A key icn n the display indicates that keypad lck is active. After leaving the radi netwrk The name f the base flashes n the display. The handset tries again t synchrnize with the base. The intervals between synchrnizatin attempts increase n accunt f the integrated pwer saving functin. Yu can switch ff yur handset t save the batteries.

Yur hands are free. When dialing, yu can hear the ringtne, fr example, withut having t lift the handset t yur ear. Speakerphne mde can be used effectively up t a backgrund nise level f 50 db (A), e.g. ffice envirnment. Activating speakerphne mde d Speakerphne mde can be activated during a call, when dialing r when answering a call: Press the Speakerphne key. The Speakerphne key lights up. Infrm the ther party when yu want t activate the speakerphne t let thers listen in. Nte: Make sure yu switch back t handset mde befre yu return the telephne directly t yur ear. In this way yu can avid causing damage t yur hearing. d Switching between speakerphne and handset mde Press the Speakerphne key. The handset switches frm speakerphne t handset mde r vice versa. The Speakerphne key lights up if speakerphne mde is active. It des nt light up if speakerphne mde is deactivated and handset mde is activated. Nte: If yu wish t replace the handset in the charging shell during a call, fr example, because the batteries are flat, hld dwn the Speakerphne key t prevent the call frm being cleared dwn. The headset must have a jack (2.5 mm). The earpiece inset and micrphne functins are activated n the headset nce it is cnnected. Crdless headset Yu can use a crdless, Bluetth headset with yur handset. This means yur hands are free while making calls, and there are n annying cables, fr example, when yu are wrking at yur cmputer r when yu are n the rad. Yur Bluetth headset must be registered n yur handset befre yu can use it fr the first time. After this, yu can cntinue t use yur Bluetth headset until yu decide t de-register it. Nte: Theretically, third parties can tap Bluetth cnnectins. T imprve prtectin against unauthrized tapping, de-register any Bluetth devices yu n lnger require. During a call, a secnd caller is nt signaled at the Bluetth headset. Registering a Bluetth headset n the handset Set the headset t lgin mde (see the user manual supplied with yur headset). v Open the handset s main menu. u v ò Bluetth [ Select the menu icn and cnfirm. s t Search fr Headset [ Select the menu item and cnfirm.
