Target Audience This conference is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, rehab therapists and others who care for stroke patients. Purpose The purpose of this conference is to present current literature, guidelines and best practices for the prevention, diagnosis and management of stroke across the patient care continuum. Objectives At the conclusion of this educational activity, the learner should be able to: Identify three reasons for the growing incidence of stroke in young adults. Discuss how to determine what specific testing is needed for young adults with stroke. Recognize the benefits of implementing endovascular stroke treatment guidelines. Describe three cardiac etiologies of cryptogenic stroke. Explain the role of neuroplasticity in stroke recovery. List two significant challenges survivors face in community reintegration after stroke. CME Credit The Wake Area Health Education Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Accreditation Wake AHEC is accredited by the North Carolina Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Disclosure Wake AHEC adheres to ACCME Essential Areas and policies regarding industry support of continuing medical education. Commercial support for the program and faculty relationships within the industry will be disclosed at the activity. Speakers will also state when off-label or experimental drugs or devices are incorporated in their presentations.
