Conference Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, participants will understand: The common fractures patterns of the pelvic ring and acetabulum. The different ways CT data can be reformatted to best see these fractures. Conditions that cause hip pain in athletes, including Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI) and Athletic Pubalgia. The use of MRI and MR-Arthrography to see these conditions. Common causes of hip pathology in children, including Developmental Dysplasia and Toxic Synovitis. The appropriate use of radiographs, ultrasound, CT, and MRI for imaging pediatric hips. The common arthritides that affect adult hips and how to image them. The clinical implications and radiologic appearance of bisphosphonate-related fractures of the proximal femurs. The use of ultrasound to diagnose common causes of hip pain. The various ultrasound-guided procedures to treat hip pain. The clinical assessment of hip pain, including osteoarthritis and snapping hip. The surgical indications for hip arthroscopy, resurfacing and replacement.

From developmental dysplasia of the newborn to sports related injuries in weekend warriors and competitive athletes, from acetabular fractures in car crashes to cartilage loss with aging, all of us and all of our patients are prone to hip pain. We now have more surgical and non-surgical options for treating hip pain than ever before. But determining the proper treatment often first requires obtaining the proper imaging study, and we now have more ways of imaging the hip than ever before. The purpose of this one-day conference is to help primary care providers better understand which imaging modalities are best suited for answering which clinical questions, and the proper use of imaging to guide patient management. This fee includes the cost of tuition, materials, continental breakfast, breaks, and lunch.
