2 Purpose This symposium is designed to provide the latest clinical research and practice regarding the diagnosis, treatment and management of cerebrovascular disease and enhance the competence of health care professionals related to these topics. Intended Audience Sanford Imagenetics Genomic Medicine Symposium The intended audience includes physicians, advanced practice providers and other interested health care professionals. Learning objectives: Upon successful completion of this symposium, participants should be able to: Define acute ischemic stroke. Recognize common presentations of acute ischemic stroke. Discuss the evidence for early recanalization, early initiation of antiplatelet therapy and permissive hypertension. Discuss the management of patients with acute stroke. Review evidence for thrombolysis as a treatment for acute ischemic stroke. Identify major issues affecting stroke care in rural communities. Explore strategies to improve the coordination of rural stroke care. Recognize the importance of time in the treatment of stroke. Explore data related to the use of mobile stroke units. Discuss Cleveland Clinic s use of Mobile Stroke Treatment Units (MSTU). Identify the major types of hemorrhagic stroke. Describe treatment options for hemorrhagic stroke. Explore the use of flow diversion and clot extraction in hemorrhagic stroke. Describe neurosurgical interventions for stroke. Discuss postoperative management of patients after neurosurgical intervention for stroke. Discuss the diagnosis of idiopathic intracranial hypotension (IIH). Describe endovascular management of IIH.
