Sponsorship and Exhibition Prospectus 11th Australasian Menopause Society Congress Fri 14 - Sun 16 September 2007, Adelaide, South Australia www.menopause.org.au

IINVIITATIION On behalf of the 11th Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) Congress Organising Committee, I would like to invite you to participate in our Annual Scientific Congress, either as a Congress Sponsor or within the Exhibition. The Congress will be held at the prestigious, South Australia from 14 16 September 2007. The aim of the Australasian Menopause Society Congress is the advancement of knowledge about menopause. The effective health care of this enlarging group of women is underpinned by the understanding of the far reaching effects of the changes that occur as women age. This year s Scientific Program Committee selected a meeting theme of Menopause - Never too Young with particular focus on the transition of young women experiencing menopause and discussion of the latest scientific findings. As usual, it is expected that the AMS Congress will bring together doctors, nurses, paramedical and community workers to participate in communication and scientific discussion in the advancement of knowledge about menopause. The scientific program will be held over three days featuring local, national and international speakers. The planned social program will allow delegates, sponsors and exhibitors to mix in both a professional and social exchange. During the 11th AMS Congress, all registered participants will be encouraged to visit the commercial exhibits in the Exhibition Hall which will also be the venue for lunch and for an afternoon inter-active session for all delegates. Various levels of involvement are outlined in this document. However, if there are any ways in which you would like to participate, other than the options outlined, the Congress Managers would be happy to consider your suggestions and discuss these with you. I look forward to having your organisation join us in 2007. With kind regards Dr Alice MacLennan Congress Chair President Elect, Australasian Menopause Society Sponsorship and Exhibition Prospectus w w w. m e n o p a u s e. o r g. a u 1

SYNOPSIIS The importance of the menopause can best be comprehended when it is realised that there are over two million post-menopausal women in Australia, and that every year about 80,000 new women join this group. These women constitute 40% of all health care visits in Australia. The need to understand the various problems of the menopause, and their management is a major issue to doctors, politicians, health care workers, and the community; particularly when it is realised that women are not only living longer, but that their numbers are increasing at a disproportionate rate. The aim of the Australasian Menopause Society is advancement of knowledge about menopause. The Australasian Menopause Society aims to help bring people together, be they doctors, nurses, paramedical or community workers to participate in communication and scientific discussions for the advancement of knowledge about menopause. The Mission of the Australasian Menopause Society To improve the quality of life of women during and after menopause. Objectives of the Australasian Menopause Society To promote the study of all aspects of menopause and the application of that knowledge To promote discussion of issues associated with menopause To encourage multidisciplinary approaches to these issues To liaise with all relevant colleges and societies of the health profession To liaise with similar groups internationally To promote through information, education and communication an understanding of menopause To encourage and support research in menopause To ensure the objects of the Society encompass national health goals that promote women's health by liaison with governments, health agencies and relevant research organisations. To liaise with other organisations with similar objectives to the AMS To ensure dissemination of accurate information through the media To establish rules for membership of the AMS and to maintain a register of members Sponsorship and Exhibition Prospectus w w w. m e n o p a u s e. o r g. a u 2
