1 SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY OF NUCLEAR MEDICINE 16 th BIENNIAL CONGRESS, SEPTEMBER 2014, DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA ABOUT THE SOCIETY: The SASNM was founded in It has since grown to an organisation of approximately 180 members. The Society represents members from all disciplines involved in the practice of Nuclear Medicine, including physicians, radiographers, physicists, medical scientists and radio pharmacists, as well as members from the industry. The main objectives of the institution are to provide a South African forum for collaboration between physicians, scientists, radiographers and other professional persons with a common interest in the field of nuclear medicine. To promote the practice and development of nuclear medicine through the accumulation and dissemination of scientific and technical information by means of meetings, courses and publications and to improve the status of nuclear medicine in South Africa through liaison with organizations with common interests, nationally and internationally. ABOUT THE CONFERENCE: The SASNM will be hosting their 2014 congress during the September 2014 in Durban, South Africa. This year s overall theme is, Nuclear Medicine the jewel of imaging and will focus on themes such as Advances in Imaging, Ethics and the Healthcare Professional and Therapy where it s at! Congress attendees will include physicians, radiographers, physicists, medical scientists and radiopharmacists, as well as members from the industry. We are expecting an enthusiastic group of approximately 200 attendees thereby creating an opportunity to network during and after the event, as well as to share experience and gain knowledge. The conference will comprise a full program over the three days. We are in the process of inviting speakers and other industry experts in their field. Further, SASNM will also host an Opening Cocktail and Banquet as part of the social program. Durban, South Africa will play host city to the 2014 congress. Durban is a beautiful seaside city famous for its beaches and sunny weather. A melting pot of the Zulu, English and Indian cultures it is the perfect destination for the 2014 congress.
