JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER POST REF: 15/194 REPORTS TO: COMPUTING SUPPORT MANAGER DATE: JULY 2015 JOB PURPOSE: Provide technical support and maintenance for college IT systems and key applications. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To provide technical support and maintenance for enterprise software systems, web presence and IT applications. 2. Ensure the successful implementation, testing, development, distribution and ongoing maintenance of College software and applications. 3. Ensure change management, security management and release management best practice. DETAILED TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES 4. To manage software access and licences 5. To liaise with users of software during the planning, implementation and testing phases of introductions, upgrades or fixes. 6. To follow change management procedures in testing fixes and changes made. 7. Integration of information across College software applications and systems. SPECIFIC DUTIES 8. Design and configure server side applications. 9. Maintain and configure enterprise anti-virus server/client software. 10. Maintain and configure Windows update server. 11. Maintain and configure web filtering software. 12. Maintain and configure Microsoft Exchange Server and email filtering. 13. Design, configure and maintain the integration of selected College databases. 14. Assist with the maintenance of the student email system. 15. Assist with the configuration of the SAN. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 16. Contribute to the College s commitment to continuous improvement by actively participating in the College s self-assessment process and development planning. 17. Participate in the College s appraisal process and to undertake appropriate training and development activities or programmes. 18. Implement the College s Equal Opportunities Policy. 19.
