JOB DESCRIPTION Job Grade: Technical Services, Grade 5 Job Purpose: To design and develop websites and digital content for Loughborough University s website and other digital channels, managing the process from initial design brief to completion. You will use your excellent knowledge of digital technologies and passion for design to produce high-quality cutting-edge websites that are userfocused, accessible and respect web standards. Main Duties & Responsibilities Produce designs for Loughborough University s website and other digital channels. Work with internal stakeholders to develop fully-accessible websites, liaising with the University s Schools and Departments to agree requirements and design briefs. Project-manage the website design process from initial brief to site completion. Provide client support and technical assistance to web publishers across the University. Ensure website developments adhere to the University s visual identity, web standards and accessibility guidelines. Keep abreast of advances in digital technology, communicate to colleagues and implement where appropriate.

2 Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required. 3 PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Web Designer Job Grade: Technical Services, Grade 5 Criteria Essential Desirable Stages to be Assessed Education Educated to at least A- Level standard or equivalent in a relevant design-related subject. Degree in relevant design-related subject or equivalent professional qualifications. Work Experience Proven experience of designing and developing websites from conception to implementation - where this was a significant part of the role. Experience of liaising with customers to develop design briefs. Experience of designing and developing websites in the public sector or higher education. Experience of managing large web design projects. All to be assessed at stages and Skills, Abilities and Knowledge working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS and responsive web design. JavaScript / JQuery.,2 content management systems. Terminal Four Site Manager WCMS.,2, digital design skills supported by a strong portfolio of work.,2, Excellent working knowledge of digital design applications including Adobe s Creative Suite.,2, An understanding of designing and developing for social media channels.,

4 Training Other Sound knowledge of and strong commitment to web standards, website accessibility and user experience. Demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload, use initiative, manage deadlines and work individually and as part of a team. written, communication and presentation skills. 5 Conditions of Service The appointment will be on a full-time, open-ended contract. Salary will be on Technical Services Grade 5, 2,86 to 27,864 per annum, at a starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
