1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Reporting to: Location: Travelling Requirements: Transportation Requirements: Contracted Hours: Referencing Requirements: Registration Requirements: Community & Events Fundraising Manager Head of Fundraising Edinburgh or Glasgow Regular offsite visits Own car (desirable, not essential) / use of pool car 35 (out of hours work is likely to be required) Disclosure Scotland None Job Purpose The Community and Events Fundraising Manager will maximise income from community fundraising at Capability Scotland. This will involve engaging supporters and volunteers across Scotland to ensure that successful and sustainable fundraising activities are developed, delivered and maintained. Main Duties Develop a network and infrastructure for local fundraising groups that encourages, supports and enables supporters to develop fundraising activities. Organise and promote local and national events to raise funds and maximise participation. This will include developing marketing plans and utilising social media. Oversee recruitment, development and management of Capability Scotland s Fundraising, Collection Box and Skill-Sharing volunteers and events participants, ensuring that they are motivated, properly resourced and deployed in income generating activities. Management of small community fundraising team. Proactively engage with local organisations and key individuals to develop meaningful long term relationships which are mutually beneficial in their support of our fundraising activities. Ensure systems are in place to properly account for fundraising activities and funds in accordance with Capability Scotland s procedures and national provisions. Developing and analysing statistical and narrative reports on key areas (projects, activities, supporters, volunteers, development opportunities) to ensure our understanding and to inform future decision making. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to: Promote a sense of common purpose through the embodiment of Capability Scotland s Mission, Vision and Values. Ensure high standards of service delivery through the consistent application of recognised standards and established policies, procedures and practices.
2 Work in a safe and effective manner at all times. Maintain accurate details and contact reports on the Raiser s Edge CRM database. To involve Capability Scotland colleagues from other teams in development of and activities where appropriate. To keep informed of developments in the voluntary sector, by reading and digesting journals, networking and other sources of information. To undertake any other duties related to the responsibilities of the post and which may be delegated by Capability Scotland management.
3 PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications A full driving licence is desirable Membership of the Institute of Fundraising is desirable Experience Demonstrable success of developing and managing successful community fundraising programmes within the voluntary sector. This should include events and volunteer management. Demonstrable experience of working towards and achieving fundraising income/expenditure targets. This should include developing an annual plan to achieve these targets. Demonstrable experience of managing staff to achieve fundraising objectives. Demonstrable experience of recruiting and supervising area or country-wide volunteer networks and working with them to ensure fundraising objectives are met. Demonstrable success organising supporter-facing events and ensuring that their fundraising and supporter participation objectives are met e.g. marathon, kiltwalk. This should include developing marketing and communications (including social media) plans to support the events. Demonstrable experience of identifying, successfully acquiring and developing new business opportunities e.g. local corporate partnerships. Desirable: Experience of using Raiser s Edge or other fundraising databases Experience of creating written materials such as brochures and information packs Experience of using social media to support community fundraising activities Skills and Abilities Ability to develop and effectively implement annual work plans, monitoring performance so as to achieve agreed income/expenditure targets. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, sufficient to develop effective relationships with volunteer supporters from scratch and from a range of backgrounds. Negotiation and influencing skills sufficient to manage and direct the activities of volunteer supporters, often living at a distance, and to make the most of fundraising opportunities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and from all parts of the organisation. Ability to deliver effective presentations to groups of people from differing backgrounds
4 Numeracy skills sufficient to develop effective budgets for events and other fundraising activities and to monitor progress against income/expenditure targets. Ability to effectively use ICT to store and retrieve data, to generate routine correspondence and to undertake basic online research. Ability to develop and maintain effective record keeping systems, both paper based and digital. Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse and changing workload Ability to work effectively as part of a team, offering and receiving support as required.
