1 Job Title: Temporary Project Support Officer Salary Range: 21,402 to 23,790 per annum (LC 6) Location: Department: Permanent / Temporary: Hours Per Week: 37 Rota: Reference No: S Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters, Hutton, Preston Business Support Department Temporary for 10 months Flexi Monday to Friday Closing Date: 4.00pm on Thursday 4 June 2015 Lancashire Constabulary s Business Support Department is seeking a Project Support Officer to be based at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters, Hutton, Preston. The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free unlimited car parking on site. Working as a Project Support Officer you will be required to conduct research into identified areas of Constabulary business using approved Project and Management techniques, which will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation and make appropriate recommendations to improve service delivery and achieve improvement. Knowledge and experience of working with integrated business systems 2. Experience of communicating across a wide spectrum of people both individuals and in groups 3. Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them. 2 LANCASHIRE CONSTABULARY JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Location: Responsible to: Job Purpose: Grade: Salary: Project Support Officer HQ Business Support Head of Business Support To conduct research into identified areas of Constabulary business using approved Project and Management techniques which will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation and make appropriate recommendations to improve service delivery and achieve improvement. LC6 21,402 to 23,790 per annum KEY RESULT AREAS This is not a comprehensive list of all tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken. Support the delivery of projects as directed by the Head of Business Support. Carry out research activity in connection with on-going projects using the most appropriate methods / techniques. Facilitate focus group meetings both internally and externally. Conduct benchmarking exercises as appropriate. Support the project teams with the allocation / review and assignment of tasks and assist with the follow up of activities to help ensure there is no slippage in project time lines. Collate and analyse project findings in order to reach conclusions and make recommendations. Produce written reports relating to work carried out and prepare / deliver presentations outlining project findings and recommendations to appropriate audiences e.g. Chief Officers, Governance Boards. Deal efficiently with all information relating to the projects and provide timely and accurate information to appropriate internal/ external networks and bodies as required. Work as part of a team in developing effective and efficient Project Management techniques, and to update systems / paperwork in line with the methodology adopted for Project Management Assist and support the Project Manager(s) with any required meetings e.g. Programme/Project Boards, Steering Group and informal - and with the follow up of actions Update project management software as required

Knowledge and experience of working with integrated business systems Experience of providing advice and guidance to staff and managers on all aspects of quality assurance, business improvements, audit and research work 2. Experience of communicating across a wide spectrum of people both individuals and in groups Experience of analysing information to identify relationships, patterns and trends making accurate decisions and taking appropriate action Experience of interpreting complex rules and regulations and identifying options Experience of interrogating computer systems to produce accurate reports and management information ( graphs, tables and statistics ) to support and inform management decisions 3. Experience of using internal computer systems ( e.g. HRS, Oracle, Tranman, ERP, Microtech) to conduct research and Microsoft Software Applications, including MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point Experience of working in an administrative role within a busy office environment dealing with confidential information Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload 4. Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them. Knowledge of Health & Safety, Equality, Data Protection Principles and Community & Race Relations Legislation/issues Other A flexible approach to working hours and practices.
