Role Details: Role Title: Directorate: Service: Section: Grade: Contract Details: Post Number: Technical Manager Communities and Service Support Customer Services Victoria Theatre SO1 Permanent FWP358 Suitable for Job share: No Role Purpose: Required to strategically direct, manage and develop all aspects of the Technical Department within the Victoria Theatre to ensure the smooth, supportive, high quality, efficient delivery of a technical service in the following areas: Staff; Training, Health and Safety, Design and provision of technical services relating to productions; Customer support, Maintenance and development of systems, processes, equipment and facilities. Lead on managing the relationship with the Corporate Asset Management Team in relation to the wider management of the building, services and facilities; and will also lead on the design and delivery of Health & Safety policy and practice across all departments within the Theatre. 2 Smarter Working Profile: The work style for this role is defined as: Mobile Workers Mobile Workers typically work from a hot desk in an office and may need ICT access. They tend to move about during the day to attend meetings with colleagues, customers, and staff, and attend workshops etc. Mobile Workers are based with their teams in zoned areas to ensure effective team working and co-ordination. Circumstances The post holder is required to structure their work to meet the demands of the service and the artistic programme. This will include working: Weekends Early mornings and late evenings and nights Bank Holidays No overtime will be paid for hours worked, and additional hours will be managed via a lieu time system balanced over a 12 months period. Principle duties and responsibilities 1. Direct, manage and develop a safe, efficient and effective Technical Department and associated staff, services, facilities and equipment within the Victoria Theatre involving: electrical, engineering, rigging and lifting, lighting, sound, IT and special effects areas of operation 2. Manage, develop and support all staff working within the Technical Department including setting objectives, conducting appraisals and identifying and managing training and development needs and managing working patterns within legal guidelines 3. Managing and reporting on delegated budgets and income targets relating to the Technical Department activities 4. Nurturing and delivering a pro active culture of high quality, supportive and enabling customer service within the Technical Department to all professional and community users 5. Lead on managing and developing all aspects of Health & Safety policy and practice within the Technical Department and across all other Theatre departments 6. Lead on the relationship with Corporate Assets and Facilities Management Team to support the effective management of the theatre building, facilities, services and equipment 7. Provide on occasion advice, technical guidance and support in relation to the delivery of arts and cultural events activities across the Borough All staff will be epected to maintain high standards of customer care in the contet of the council s Core Values, to uphold the Equality and Diversity Policy and to participate in training activities necessary to their post.
