Terminology Management An essential component of corporate knowledge management Creating terminology databases KERN works together with you to create databases, glossaries, and terminology lists in order for you to establish and maintain a uniform, linguistic corporate identity. Terminology extraction KERN uses special terminology management systems to research and develop a glossary of specialized terms. In the course of further translations, KERN expands, maintains and updates the terminology database in two or more languages. Using software tools, KERN analyzes its clients' existing documentation, extracts the specialized terms in one or several languages, and creates databases, glossaries, and terminology lists. Consolidation, administration and maintenance of existing terminology lists All the company and product-specific terms that have previously been stored in various division or department-specific dictionaries or indexes can be corrected and standardized by the creation of a terminology database. We gladly grant online access to the terminology database that has been compiled for your company via the online terminology portal Term4Client. Thus, it is no longer necessary for you to create and host your own database. With the use of our professional terminology management systems, we can ensure application of a uniform, consistent, and approved company terminology, and avoid inadmissible terms, e.g. product names of other manufacturers, when translating. 7

Dubbing, Synchronization and Subtitles At KERN, your films and other media are in good hands Dubbing KERN offers foreign language dubbing of industrial and commercial films, videos, CDs, and audio tapes. Regardless of the source language of the film, our native speakers ensure that the film and audio material always sound like an original production in the target language. Synchronization Our sound engineers are experienced in the handling and post-production of foreign language sound recordings. In order to process the most current formats, our sound engineers use software solutions such as Digidesign Pro Tools combined with the most up-to-date mixing equipment. Subtitles KERN has years of experience in translating texts and carrying out subtitling projects. Our translators work very closely with the editors to ensure that the subtitles always correspond to the image and sound sequences. All recordings can be delivered in the following formats: n audio or data CD n DVD, Blu-ay, Betacam SP, as well as in all other common computer formats. For the transfer of video and audio data, KERN uses a high-speed FTP server. 11
