AIDF & INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FORUM 2014 WHO ARE WE? AIDF is a world leading forum for the humanitarian aid, relief and development sectors, facilitating partnerships, addressing global humanitarian and development issues and encouraging the sharing of expertise. The forum provides an opportunity for those involved in the aid, relief and development sectors to network, build partnerships and address global humanitarian and development challenges. AIDF gives delegates the opportunity to learn about the latest products, technologies and services in action. Originally International Aid & Trade, the event was based in Geneva from 2006 and moved to Washington D.C. in 2009 where it was held in partnership with InterAction. The event was rebranded as the Aid and International Development Forum in order to reflect the increasing focus on development as well as aid and disaster relief. AIDF ASIA-PACIFIC FORUM Following strong support from exhibitors and delegates we launched a new forum in partnership with the RMA Group for the Asia-Pacific region in January 2013 to complement our established annual event in Washington DC. Where Washington DC is a centre of humanitarian funding and policy decisions, Bangkok is a centre of operational activity and international support for both the humanitarian relief and development sectors. The show has received strong support from donor organizations such as ECHO and USAID, several UN organizations and international as well as regional aid and development agencies. Asia and the Pacific are undergoing enormous change - including in the fields of disaster management and emergency response. OCHA sees AIDF as a venue where national authorities and NGOs, regional organizations, the private sector, international agencies and others can come together and contribute to charting a dynamic and forward looking agenda to meet the region s humanitarian and disaster management challenges in the Asian century. Oliver Lacey-Hall, Head, Regional Office for Asia and Pacific UN OCHA
