8 Pre-Conference Workshops Wednesday November 10, 2010 Human Patient Simulation Lab Wednesday, November 10, 2010 Cost: $ Location: Embassy Suites The Human Patient simulation lab will consist of adult and pediatric simulators. Using high tech simulators, learners will be presented with various patient simulated cases under the direction of expert faculty. The case scenarios are designed with specific educational and critical skills to be learned. Using simulators, learners can work through each clinical situation by assessing the presenting symptoms, providing appropriate interventions, and managing the simulator s response to the various treatments. The selected scenarios require learners to solve problems, work as a team, and communicate effectively with other providers. Faculty will be present to help guide the students through the scenario and offer expert advice in the care of the patient. Role-play provides an opportunity for the learner to improve critical thinking and communication skills, thus enhancing patient safety. Skills learned from case-based scenarios and human patient simulation help health care providers transition skills into actual patient care in clinical environments Registration/Breakfast 0800 Simulation Introduction Dr. Martin 0830 Adult Simulation Dr. Tucker 0920 Break 0930 Geriatric Simulation Dr. Martin 1020 Break 1030 Pediatric Simulation Dr. Iocono/Dr. Foley This course caps at 24 people.
