It will also assist in content development, maintenance and coordination of the City of Greater Geelong s internet and intranet sites, including approved sub-sites. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Key Responsibilities: 1. Assist in the design and development of digital user experiences for City of Greater Geelong Geelong s internet and intranet sites, including approved sub-sites. 2. Assist in development and maintenance of online and digital information. 3. Assess, design and create multimedia online tools. 4. Work proactively with the departments to ensure website service information is relevant and current. 5. Undertake and assist in the review and analysis by providing statistical reporting of online usage both internal and external including monthly auditing of sites. 6. Assist in identifying opportunities for new development and evaluation of the City s online needs in liaison with Council s Department.. 7. Adhere to all Council s policies and procedures relevant to this position. 8. Carry out other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed from time to time. 1

Long / short distance travel between sites. Dealing with difficult clients and situations. Demanding deadlines. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: 1. Tertiary qualification or degree in multimedia/web design or related discipline OR several years demonstrated experience. 2. Highly developed written communication skills and experience in design and writing for the web. 3. Demonstrated experience in providing user-centred design and creative solutions 4. Sound understanding of Internet, and social technologies, including web information management. 5. Well developed HTML and CSS knowledge and skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to assess, develop and design a range of online products 7. Highly organised and able to meet deadlines. 8. Ability to work in an autonomous capacity and as part of a team. 9. Demonstrated understanding of web accessibility, usability standards, web publishing principles and techniques. 10. All candidates should display integrity, responsibility, respect for others and the ability to be innovative. 2

ACCOUNTABILITY AND EXTENT OF AUTHORITY: Work in conjunction with and obtain advice from the Team leader and eservices Coordinator Ensure security of Council s assets under officer s control. Adhere to Council s policies on OH&S, ethics, duty of care, professional standards and legal requirements. Ensure Councils digital brand is maintained. Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures. This is applicable to both hardcopy and electronic information, including . JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING: Contribute to the ongoing improvement, development and implementation of Council s eservices Framework. Show initiative and innovation in approach to all aspects of the position. Guidance and advice is available from the Team Leader and eservices Development Coordinator. SPECIALIST SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Well developed writing and design skills. Sound knowledge and understanding of the following: o Graphics: Adobe Creative Suite or similar o Well developed PC skills o Knowledge of HTML (5) CSS, JavaScript required, XML and ASPX desirable o Experience with Content Management Software systems and their use across organisations. Knowledge of Internet Related Government Standards and Accessibility. Experience with Google analytics desirable. MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Ability to support ongoing web requirements of the City s Web Authors. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Highly organised and able to prioritise and meet deadlines. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Well developed written skills to enable the production of online information and required reports or external correspondence as required Interpersonal communication skills that enable interaction with and the ability to gain cooperation from staff at all levels in addition to Technical Support and Development representatives from external Content Management providers. Ability to demonstrate integrity, responsibility, respect and innovation in all aspects of the position. 3

4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Tertiary degree in Multimedia, Web, Design or related discipline with some experience, OR relevant experience in a similar role or organisation and possibly lesser formal qualifications. A current Victorian Driver's Licence. 4
