The Department of Psychology is keen to develop its research interests in Educational Psychology and we are now seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic member of staff to join us from January 2016 and help us deliver our Strategic Plan by producing high quality research that improves people s lives. The post-holder will support the development and delivery of Educational Psychology across the Department. The ability to teach either Qualitative or Quantitative Research Methods at undergraduate and post-graduate level is essential. Appropriate to their level of experience, the ideal candidate will bring links with external contacts to help facilitate the development of our research portfolio. Candidates should demonstrate potential for grant income generation. We welcome applications from candidates who have a PhD (or who are close to completing their PhD) in Educational Psychology or in a related area of psychology. Applicants should be research active with a track record of publications commensurate to their career stage. The ability to work as an effective team member, contributing to the provision of high quality teaching across the department at undergraduate and post-graduate level is essential. All new staff will be expected to contribute to the Department s next REF submission. The posts will provide an ideal opportunity for an early career academic to contribute to the development of our research activity, post graduate studies and CPD provision. External Examiners; professional bodies, employers To contribute to the teaching, administration, research, income generation and the developmental work of the Department of Psychology at both undergraduate and post-graduate level. MAN TASKS AND DUTES: 1. To contribute to teaching as required in the Department of Psychology, including: a) appropriate preparation, including preparation of learning materials; b) delivery of formal scheduled teaching; c) design and preparation of instruments of assessment, in accordance with the provisions of relevant validation documents; d) undertaking formative and summative assessments of students work; e) provision of general support for student learning. 2. To contribute to the teaching of, and to exercise oversight of, modules in appropriate areas of Psychology, as directed. 3. To contribute to the teaching and assessment of Research Design. 4. To supervise experimental research work undertaken by students and to supervise students on work placements. 5. To act as progress tutor to a designated number of students throughout their University career, writing references for them, as required. 6. To be an active researcher, conducting individual and collaborative research, identifying sources of funding where appropriate and contributing to the Department s REF2020 submission.

To underpin the above contributions by active engagement in scholarship/research/consultancy and by the development and maintenance of links with relevant external organisations, in consultation with the Head of the Department of Psychology. 8. To contribute as required to developmental work in Psychology. 9. To carry out administrative duties relevant to the post, as directed by the Head of the Department of Psychology. 10. To participate as required in the Professional Annual Staff Review process and staff development activities. 11. To engage in reflective processes for quality enhancement and professional development to support teaching and research activities. 12. To carry out any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post, as directed by the Head of the Department of Psychology after due consultation. 13.
