1 COMPANY: Crohn s and Colitis Canada LOCATION: Toronto, ON TYPE: Full-time NATIONAL MANAGER, GUTSY WALK Purpose of Position Reporting to the Vice President, Development, the National Manager, Gutsy Walk provides support and leadership to the national field team (across 5 Regions) to ensure they have what they need to effectively achieve their Gutsy Walk fundraising goals. This role acts as a bridge for communication to and from National Office, consolidating and leveraging program development with fundraising delivery. This role is also directly responsible and accountable for program development, growth, implementation and evaluation to maximize walk potential, and ensure sustainability of revenue through maximizing efficiencies and effectiveness. Key Areas of Responsibility Fundraising Coach and lead Development Coordinators across Canada to provide ongoing stewardship of existing relationships with walk stakeholders including: sponsors, team captains, VIP participants and volunteers, while increasing revenue and event participation. Monitor and measure national walk revenue targets and key metrics, and adjusting strategic tactics as needed to achieve program goals. Provide support and guidance on how to identify, cultivate and solicit corporate sponsorships and teams in key walk markets across Canada. Work with Marketing and Development to ensure fundraising components meet field needs. Work with Development team to ensure awareness campaigns, education symposiums and other events are integrated with the strategies and goals of walk fundraising. Work with VP, Development and Regional Directors to develop walk plans and budgets. Corporate Relations: Identify national corporate partners to explore/develop innovative partnership opportunities, document the objectives and work to create partnership agreements.

2 Work with regions across Canada to provide tools, and implement a sponsorship plan, facilitate account reviews, and help shape strategy for key and emerging national accounts. Operations Support Liaise with National Gutsy Walk team to act as central contact point for program operations Analyze current processes/systems to improve productivity and create delivery efficiencies Work with Regions, analyze data to provide insight and strategies into event growth progress and opportunity, and recommend plans to drive program operations performance Lead the successful delivery of key fundraising resources and program training with an emphasis to maintain or improve participant and volunteer experience (i.e. resource manuals, workshops, online learning modules). Ensure training and materials are on time, on target, on budget and relevant to program needs. Identify training areas from a regional staff perspective (updating Q&A), and manage field support in resolving donor queries/concerns (receipts, donor look ups). Identify, source and manage the most appropriate tools to support field delivery Work with Marketing to create content for web pages, e-pledge and other walk communication tools. Source, select and manage smooth implementation of external service suppliers; ensure contracted service levels of event operation suppliers are being met to ensure proper execution of logistics and deliverables (materials, incentives, funds processing). Manage responses to event related information seekers through various channels (websites, phone). Trouble shoot or escalate where needed, aim for streamlined service solutions. Communication: Ensure the creation of a national marketing campaign to promote walk events, and drive participation, in partnership with Mar-Com and VP of Development. Including the creation and implementation of a national walk communication plan, and collateral.

3 Act as the central communication point to and from the national office. Identity gaps in communication and access to resources for the field, and recommend solutions. Provide national communication weekly updates to the field, VP, Development and CEO. Strategic Planning Establish and implement organizational goals and outcomes in the region in accordance with Crohn s and Colitis Canada s strategic plan, and identify resources to achieve goals. Support the fields implementation of the strategic plan and any business policy. Collaborate with the rest of the senior management team on strategic initiatives, as well as the implementation of key deliverables and day to day operations. Staff Leadership Provide leadership to field staff through support and coaching. Set clear team results-oriented goals with realistic and measurable outcomes, and provides regular, appropriate and constructive coaching, and take corrective action if necessary. Encourage team building by facilitating open communication and positive working relationships with staff. Planning, Budgeting, Financial Administration and Policy Compliance In conjunction with the VP, Development, support the creation of regional budgets annually, ensure compliance with approved budgets and proposes revisions as necessary. Review monthly national walk financial statements against budget for accuracy, and undertake the analysis of results to stay within budget; implement appropriate actions to ensure strong fundraising results and/or reduction in expenditures as needed, and report event costs to ensure a balanced national program budget. Collaborate with the finance department to streamline program administrative processes; Assess and mitigate risks and potential threats to the organization s financial security, growth and reputation; Qualifications and Experience

4 Leadership ability to foster and create a culture of philanthropy. A University Degree in business, social sciences, or non-profit management is preferable. Minimum 5-7 years of related leadership and staff management experience, derived from a non-profit sector, community agency and / or health related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience planning complex, high profile events. Completion of a certificate in the fields of fundraising (CFRE) and volunteer management or appropriate equivalent is preferable. Proven, successful track record in: Fundraising Staff management and leadership of cross-functional teams in home-based offices; Operations, data and financial processes, and budget management; Leading volunteer engagement activities, reflecting trends in the sector Project management and product sales/training experience Key Competencies, Skills and Attributes Strategic business awareness and planning skills; ability to operationalize the organization s vision and strategic plan and deliver successfully on outcomes; Strong team leader, but also works collaboratively with colleagues, interdepartments; Ability to drive for results, maintaining and building effective relationships despite adversity, leading by example. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking ability, with creative problem solving; Very strong organizational, planning and time management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent and diverse tasks; Outstanding oral and written communication skills; High energy/positive attitude/sense of urgency; Excellent interpersonal skills and strong customer-orientation. Ability to work under pressure and maintain priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as database management (Raiser s Edge); Strong relationship management skills: interact successfully with variety of stakeholders;
