To coordinate Stewardship and Development mass communications, including electronic newsletters, bulk , special event communications, and (in conjunction with the Friends of the UUA Director) print and phone fundraising appeals. To assist with gift acknowledgements, donor relations and stewardship, prospect research, and special projects and events related to successful campaign fundraising. To implement special projects as requested. Principal Responsibilities 1. Coordinates and helps refine the Stewardship and Development communications plan. Writes, edits, and publishes monthly electronic newsletter. Manages distribution lists, subscription lists, donor interest data, and donor list segmentation. Writes, edits, and publishes special Stewardship and Development Update s. Looks for opportunities to create timely e-appeals. Maintains Stewardship and Development web pages on UUA.org, and in conjunction with the gift processing staff, on the UUA s online donation system. Serves as the primary interface with outside creative agency as appropriate for design of print and electronic communication. Proofs all campaign-related communications and coordinates the process for reviewing and distributing campaign-related communications. 2. Develops dynamic, creative communications materials including presentations, online engagement tools, and donor reports. 3. Collaborates with interdepartmental communications staff to ensure a Stewardship and Development lens on overall UUA communications. Proactively advocates for fundraising and stewardship messages. 4. Assists with gift acknowledgements, donor relations. Works as a member of a team to ensure timely, accurate and friendly service to our donor prospects. Writes thank you letters, makes phone calls, and implements special projects, such as fundraising for specific projects, or preparing and delivering reports to donors and prospects. 5. Provides campaign support: composes and coordinates correspondence; assists in implementing the campaign strategy; documents ongoing campaign strategies. 6. Assists with and sometimes manages fundraising and other projects and special events. Serves as a member of a team working on events and projects. Assists with special events, such as meetings of the President s Council, President s Roundtables and Stewardship and Development events at General Assembly.

2 7. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, the Director of Stewardship and Development and Special Advisor to the President, the Chief Operating Officer, or the President. Qualifications This is an exempt Grade 9 position (expected hiring range $34,200 $42,300 depending on experience). Requirements include: Experience developing creative, energetic communications materials. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Extreme attention to detail. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Experience working in a professional office environment, preferably in fundraising or non-profits. A strong interest in pursuing a career in professional fundraising/development work. Ability to interact with a variety of individuals and audiences graciously. Ability to deal with sensitive confidential information. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team. Willingness to travel to some events and meetings around the U.S. Highly proficient in applicable software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Database experience especially Raiser s Edge a plus. Basic HTML. Experience with web development and content management systems is helpful.
