2 Concept: 3 rd Zurich Life Science Day, 16 th of February 2012 Event Information: Target audience: PhD & Master students, Post- Docs and Young professionals, (2011 data: 50% PhD students, 15% Master students, 30% Post- Docs, 5% professionals) Target size: 700 registered participants and additional visitors of the trade fair. About 20 companies with corresponding representatives Format: Organizer: 13 presentations in two parallel sessions and a company exhibition The Life Science Zurich - Young Scientists Network In 2010 the Young European Biotech Network Switzerland and the Life Science Zurich Biotechnology Network merged to form The Life Science Zurich- Young Scientist Network Budget: Venue: The total estimated budget is CHF Lichthof of the University of Zurich at Irchel Campus and surrounding lecture halls. The goal of this event is to expand the horizons of young scientists in their career perspectives. In addition to its informative purpose, this event will also serve as a networking platform interfacing participants, companies and referees. The trade fair located in the Lichthof is the heart of the event, where companies will have their booths providing opportunities for networking during catered coffee breaks, lunch breaks and apéro. Bistro tables will facilitate discussions after the talks, while the Career Services of ETH and University of Zurich will offer CV checks. Two parallel sessions are designed based on the different interests of the audience: Session A: This session will provide initial information about networking as well as personal and business skills required for a successful career. University, public institution and enterprise representatives will give insight into different research career types. Session B: This session will focus on various career paths, mainly in non- research. Entrepreneurs, coaches, consultants and industry representatives will give insight into alternative careers for young scientists. The session will finish with a simulated case study interview, all of which will provide the audience with a unique experience.
