Safety systems are perhaps the most reguated component in the oi and gas industry and must satisfy strict design and quaity requirements set forth by the American Petroeum Institute (API) and the Internationa Standards Organization (ISO). Subsurface safety and injection vaves must provide reiabe contro when emergency conditions arise and when conditions such as deep water, high pressures, high temperatures, and corrosive environments increase risk. The Schumberger eakage-acceptance criteria is substantiay higher than those of the API and ISO. For exampe, API industry standards aow newy manufactured subsurface safety vaves a eakage rate of 5 scf/min; however, Schumberger standard vaves are tested to a more stringent requirement and have a eakage rate of ony scf/min, which is ess than 1% and 150 times better than the API acceptance rate. SCHLUMBERGER SAFETY VALVES Safety vaves, an integra part of we competions, protect offshore and and production instaations. Schumberger offers six main safety vave styes, ranging from basic to the most high-tech design avaiabe in the industry. TRC-II Series TRC-II* series tubing-retrievabe safety vaves incorporate the best aboratory and fied-proven technoogies. They contain a minimum of critica, dynamic, and static seas. Patented gas-powered actuators with disconnect rod pistons aow reduced operating pressures for depths exceeding 3,658 m [12,000 ft], so the vaves can be positioned beow hydrate- or paraffin-deposit regions to increase operating efficiency. Two redundant hydrauic contro systems are insensitive to production tubing pressure and operate at pressures much ower than those required by conventiona vaves. Pinnace series Pinnace* tubing-retrievabe safety vaves are designed for utrahigh pressures and severey corrosive environments up to degc [400 degf]. They use an enhanced premium piston seaing system incorporating reiabe meta-to-meta dynamic seas with spring-energized, fied Tefon seaing eements, static up and down stops, and a precision piston tube. They have a compact fow tube nose sea to minimize the intrusion of debris into the fapper and power spring systems.

These vaves have a minimum of critica, static, and dynamic seas to ensure maximum reiabiity. They use a premium hydrauic piston seaing system with static open/cose seaing. This series is avaiabe with or without the fappermounted equaizing system. TRMAXX series TRMAXX* tubing-retrievabe safety vaves are designed with a rugged fapper cosure mechanism and a minimum of critica, static, and dynamic seas to ensure maximum reiabiity. They use a premium hydrauic piston seaing system with static open/ cose seaing. This series is avaiabe with or without the fappermounted equaizing system. Reiance series Reiance* cost-effective utiity safety vaves were created to fit simpe appications and operating environments. Their design is simiar to that of the TRMAXX vave except for the singe rod piston and standard hydrauic piston seaing system with Viton seaing eements. Recovery series Recovery* sickine-retrievabe safety vaves provide industryeading reiabiity and high vaue. These vaves maximize ong-term performance and reduce potentia eak paths. They are avaiabe in a range of sizes and are designed to accept any manufacturer s ock assembies for convenient use as a secondary insert safety vave. The vaves can aso be used as primary protection in appications requiring a sickine-retrievabe instaation. This series is avaiabe with or without the fapper-mounted equaizing system.

6 Consistenty high eves of quaity SCHLUMBERGER INJECTION VALVES Unike surface-controed safety vaves, subsurfacecontroed injection vaves require no hydrauic contro ine to operate; they open under injection fow. They are designed to prevent fowback or bowouts in the event surface safety systems mafunction or become damaged. Schumberger injection vaves open at predetermined injection fow rates and can be set at unimited depths. They are avaiabe with working pressures of up to MPa [10,000 psi]. With proper materia choices, they are suitabe for severey corrosive environments. INtegrity series INtegrity* injection vaves are tubing retrievabe, engineered to aow a arger inner diameter and thus increased injection fow rates than conventiona injection vaves, up to 70,000 bb/d. These vaves have ony two body joints, to ensure maximum reiabiity, and use proprietary Cam-P* premium threads to achieve a reiabe meta-to-meta sea. They have a rugged, meta-to-meta seaing fapper-cosure mechanism and secondary soft sea. These versatie vaves aow easy sickine repacement of the choke orifice when the injection fow rates are changed. A series A series sickine-retrievabe injection vaves have a minimum number of critica, static, and dynamic seas to ensure maximum reiabiity. These vaves accept any manufacturer s ock assembies and are avaiabe in a range of sizes and chokes for mutipe injection fow rates.

7 Trustworthy, ong-asting operation in hostie environments INNOVATION AND SUCCESS Since 1946, Schumberger subsurface production and contro equipment has represented innovation, quaity, and reiabiity. In chaenging subsea environments especiay, we intervention is increasingy compex, hazardous, and costy. The importance of reiabe safety and injection vaves is enormous. Through extensive research, deveopment, and fied experience, we have consistenty responded successfuy to the chaenges of these environments, incuding extremes in setting depths, temperature, pressure, and corrosion. These past successes are key to innovations for the future. Backfow prevention in deep water offshore Africa and Brazi Two operators of wes in deep waters off South America and West Africa needed to maximize injection fow rates to maintain reservoir pressures. The South American project consisted of horizonta production wes with vertica water injection wes. The wes were to be individuay tied back to a foating production, storage, and offoading vesse (FPSO). Pans for one of the West African fieds caed for 22 producing wes, 20 water-injection wes, and 2 gas-injection wes, a tied back to an FPSO. A second West African project incuded 2 rigs, 11 producer wes, and 7 injector wes, tied back to the argest FPSO of its type in the word. The two companies had both found the imited water injection fow though the inner diameter of traditiona through-tubing-instaed vaves too inefficient and costy. They chose the INtegrity vave for their deepwater injection appications because of its arger inner diameter and its reputation for reiabiity and cost-effectiveness. To date, they have acquired 20 INtegrity injection vaves, with each meeting company goas for reservoir and environment protection, and have ordered 13 additiona vaves. Long-asting protection in record-deep Guf of Mexico waters In the utradeepwater Guf of Mexico, the deveopment of a fied required instaing a subsurface safety system at 12,500 ft [3,810 m], deeper than any previousy instaed. The system had to ensure environmenta protection and be effective and cost efficient. The operator seected TRC-II safety vaves because of their highy successfu track record in working pressures up to 10,000 psi [68.95 MPa]. The vaves were instaed at the record depth with no instaation or operationa probems. The vaves ow-operating-pressure design aowed fubore access and maximum fow rates with the security of a proven emergency we shut-in system. To date, not one of the neary 500 TRC series vaves instaed in mutipe competions across the word has mechanicay faied after initia instaation. Very satisfied with the protection provided, the company pans to use these vaves in its other deepwater Guf of Mexico wes.
