19 Driving Business Growth through Process Improvement ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma are the more popular techniques used in improving the overall quality in businesses. The challenge lies in determing whether to embark on the ISO 9001 or Lean Six Sigma journey. Do you know which quality improvement technique works best for your company? The ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems set standards and address the deviation in the current process to help the company reap greater benefits. Lean Six Sigma aims at continual improvement of the quality of products or services using statistical data. Did You Know? Lean Six Sigma is complementary to ISO 9001 There is an integration of the elements of management culture and quality techniques that are critical to driving performance improvement and business excellence in Lean Six Sigma. If you have already attended the ISO 9001 courses, find out how you can drive significant business performance improvement with Lean Six Sigma. Discover how ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma work ISO 9001 Focusses on What should be done? Adheres to predetermined quality standards that have already been documented Ensure problems reported by customers, and other stakeholders are addressed in a timely fashion Lean Six Sigma Focusses on What should we do? Seeks continual improvement Analyses existing processes and identifies improvement potential in a business process Takes a more proactive approach to maximise value to the customer and improve quality and efficiency For more information, please contact Ms Violet Oh at , or learning@tuvsudpsb.sg 16

26 Enabling People Development People development through training is strongly encouraged through various funding schemes by the government. Organisations committed to improving efficiency and cultivating a globally competitive workforce as well as individuals keen to upgrade and strengthen capabilities can take advantage of these funding options to offset the costs of their people development initiatives. As a WDAappointed Continuing Education and Training (CET) Centre for Employability Skills (ES) WSQ and Service Excellence WSQ, trainees benefit from heavily funded training programmes. Additionally, our involvement with agencies like the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), participation in funding schemes such as the Skills Development Fund (SDF), Absentee Payroll Support, Workfare Training Support (WTS) and the Risk Management Assistance Fund (Workplace Safety and Health) provide added support to our clients in achieving industryspecific staff development goals. 23
