In fact we know that it is not the money that makes people leave, but rather the managers. The RCSA/AHRI program offers a range of units to assist in building skills and knowledge designed to assist line managers and supervisors who are expert in their specialist areas, but who are wanting to expand their people management skills. AHRI delivers distance education to over 400 students a year both within Australia and Internationally. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE DISTANCE DELIVERY? Every student of the Institute has access to an academic coordinator who is contactable by and phone. Their role is to provide you with support throughout your study time and answer any questions you may have in relation to the course content or the assignments you need to complete. The academic coordinators are highly experienced HR professionals and in many cases helped develop the content of the course you are studying. In addition, students are provided with login details to an online student forum. This is a platform for discussions and questions regarding your course with other students. Many students elect to study using the distance education method both within Australia and Internationally. By making regular use of these avenues of support, distance education is a rewarding experience rather than an isolating one. FEES HOW MUCH DOES THIS COURSE COST? AHRI has in place an assurance that will protect all pre-paid courses fees as required by the Australian Quality Training Framework AQTF. 6 WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS COURSE? BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 6 There are no pre-requisites for entry into the BSB51107 Diploma of Management course; however, the program is designed to draw upon your workplace environment for both the learning and assessment activities. DO YOU OFFER CREDIT TRANSFER OR RPL? There is Credit Transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL) available to students enrolling in the BSB51107 Diploma of Management program. Credit Transfer - There are no costs for credit transfer. If you wish to apply for Credit Transfer please contact the Education Consultant Libby West (or education@ahri.com.au) who will send you an application form and information about our policy associated with this process. RPL this process does incur a cost as expert time is required to review each individual application. As such, your application form must accompany a non-refundable deposit of $80 for the RPL application review. The cost to complete the full RPL application review will be based upon $80 per hour of review and assessment. Note : An RPL application review may in some instance take as much as 10 hours to complete. If this figure is reached, the Assessor will notify the student before continuing with the review The cost of an RPL application review process will not exceed the cost of a member discount enrolment. If you wish to apply for RPL please contact the Education Consultant (or education@ahri.com.au) who will send you an application form and information about our policy associated with this process. While both options are readily available to all students with previous study and/or experience, it is important to note that the RCSA/AHRI program includes materials which meet Industry expectations that are in addition to the national units of competencies. The RCSA/AHRI program is designed to provide a more holistic experience for students within which you can apply your previous knowledge and skills. NB: Credit Transfer and RPL applications with supporting documents must be submitted before close of registration for each Series.

7 BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 7 QUALIFICATIONS & ACCREDITATION WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GET WHEN I COMPLETE THIS COURSE? AHRI is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Upon successful completion of your studies, you will be awarded a BSB51107 Diploma of Management which is a nationally recognised qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certificate will include the Australian Human Resources Institute logo. ASSESSMENTS The assessment component of the BSB51107 Diploma of Management is made up of two parts. The first includes four written assessment pieces per semester; one for each unit. The written assessments are focused on applying knowledge to practical real world scenarios, allowing for students currently working to contextualize the learning to their specific organisation. The second assessment component is the workplace supervisor checklist. Students are required to have their supervisor review and sign off on four supervisor checklist forms - each one relating to the competencies of the topics studied. The aim of the Supervisor checklist is to monitor your ability to demonstrate the required skills we are seeking to develop in each topic. This assessment component is a compulsory task for successful completion of the course. Where you do not have a supervisor, AHRI is able to provide additional support resources to enable the checklists to be completed. Please contact your Education Consultant for more information. All workplace assessments are to be submitted in a soft copy format and uploaded to the student portal on the AHRI website by the due date. Your handbook will provide information about how to upload assignments and view your results from your student portal.

8 WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED AN EXTENSION ON MY ASSESSMENT? BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 8 Requests for an extension of the due date for any assignments or workplace assessments must be submitted in writing no later than one week prior to the assessment workplace assessments due date. Extensions will be considered for debilitating illness, bereavement or tragedy. All information supplied is treated in strict confidence. Requests will not be granted to students directly over the phone. Generally, applications for extensions will not be granted for the following reasons: Heavy workloads Holidays Minor medical ailments Misreading information on the due dates Computer or printer problems Business trips Seminars Moving house or employment Personal matters A failure to request an extension and a subsequent late receipt of the assessment will obtain a result for the relevant unit. HOW DO I RAISE AN APPEAL OR COMPLAINT? At AHRI every effort is made to make sure each student is able to appeal against any decision or incident they feel is unfair, or inconsistent with what they were told prior to enrolment. All complaints or appeals that arrive while attending AHRI are handled with sincerity and sensitivity. A Complaints and Appeals process exists for both academic AND non-academic issues. This process is fully covered in the Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure which is available from your Education Consultant. This policy governs the process for responding to complaints about a situation, a process, a person or people, a facility or a service provided by AHRI. A complaint or appeal should be lodged in writing, using AHRI s Complaint or Appeal Form. A written record of the complaint or appeal will be kept on file. If the student chooses to access AHRI s Complaints and Appeals Processes, their enrolment will be maintained while the process is ongoing. A student will have the opportunity to formally present their case at no cost. A student and the other party may be accompanied and assisted by a support person at any relevant meeting. AHRI will investigate and respond to all complaints and appeals lodged by students. The process will commence within 10 working days of the formal lodgement of the complaint or appeal and supporting information and all reasonable measures will be taken to finalise the process in the shortest possible time. AHRI treats all complaints and appeals in confidence and always seeks the permission of the student before discussing the complaint or appeal with relevant staff. The student will be given a written statement of the outcome, including details of the reasons for the outcome. In relation to all academic complaints or appeals, if the process results in a decision that supports the student, AHRI will immediately implement the decision or preventive action required and advises the student in writing of the outcome within 5 working days. AHRI students also have access to the National Training Hotline for complaints and appeals on WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL ONE OF MY ASSESSMENTS? As the certificate IV is a competency based course you must demonstrate competency in all elements of the program. Where it is deemed that you have not achieved competency AHRI provides the opportunity for resubmission. Students are eligible for one resubmission per topic. A $50.00 fee will be incurred for each resubmission and your course handbook will provide specific information about this process. AHRI requires successful completion of all assessment work to enable a Competency Achieved result to be awarded. 9 BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 9 GENERAL INFORMATION HOW MUCH STUDY TIME IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS COURSE? Everyone learns at different levels, speeds and we all have different styles and approaches to learning, but we would recommend that you allocate around hours of study time planned each week. WHERE CAN I GET AN OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE CONTENT? You can find an overview of the course content here, or contact the RCSA on (02) ARE THESE COURSES FULL TIME OR PART TIME? All of our courses are designed to be completed after-hours part-time so you can work a full-time job and successfully complete the required study. WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED A REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATE? You can request one and you will be invoiced in the amount of $ Contact the Education Consultant to have a Certificate Reprint Request Form sent to you. CAN I DEFER MY ENROLMENT INTO A SEMESTER? Yes, however additional fees will apply and strict deferral dates apply. A deferral is the approved postponement of study, where the participant has already paid their fees. NB: Payment must be received at the time of a deferral request. CONDITIONS OF DEFERRAL: Students wishing to defer their enrolment MUST complete the deferral and tax invoice form supplied in the student handbook and make the deferral payment at the time of the deferral request. A deferral will not be accepted until the forms and full payment of the deferral fee have been received and processed. Students who wish to defer their studies should be aware that their deferred placement in a course will automatically lapse after 12 months. CONDITIONS OF WITHDRAWAL BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 10 Students wishing to discontinue their enrolment are advised to discuss the issue with an AHRI Education Department member before completing the Withdrawal Form. Flexible study arrangements can be arranged if necessary. All requests for withdrawal must be made on the form provided in the course handbook Should a student wish to resume their studies after withdrawing from the Diploma of Management he/she must reapply for admission to the course. All study materials must be returned to AHRI, at the time of request for the withdrawal, before a refund is granted. A previously deferred student is not eligible for any refund. 11 HOW AHRI WORKS TO SUPPORT YOUR LEARNING BSB51107 DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT: FAQ : Page 11 AHRI is committed to ensuring that all students receive adequate learning support to ensure their full potential is reached. Therefore, AHRI ensures that: The learning and support needs of all students is assessed upon entry into a program. All students are aware of how to access the services they require to successfully complete their training and assessment program. Feedback is collected about AHRI s provision of support services and the feedback is systematically collated, analysed and used to improve training services. Students needs are identified upon entry into their course of study. Information to make this assessment is gathered through: Information provided by the student on the application and/or enrolment forms. Assessment of the formal language, literacy and numeracy skills test which offered to each student upon commencement of the course. Discussion with the student during their induction to the program. Gathering information about each student s prior formal and informal learning and encouraging them to seek recognition for this through the RPL process. Developing an individual training and assessment record for each student during the initial stages of a qualification. All students are provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency. This includes: Provision of a comprehensive Course Handbook upon enrolment Mentoring from appropriately qualified academic coordinators including their phone and contact details. Classes, tutorials and workshops these may be optional depending on the student s course of study. A range of short course training programs that may be complementary to full qualification courses. Online support through the student forum. Computer and technology support. Referral to external support services. AHRI recognises that all people learn differently and acknowledge that some students may require additional support. Additional support will be provided for any students experiencing: disability and access issues; language barriers; language, literacy and numeracy issues; employment issues; and/or any other issues that may affect their ability to achieve their training goals. Provision of additional support services will be provided where necessary to enable students to participate in the same way as any other person regardless of whether support services have been required. Where there is perceived difficulty in achieving learning goals, the academic coordinator will discuss these issues with the student. The student will be provided with information about possible alternative pathways, additional tools and resources available, and options and choices for accessing a supportive network. The information provided will vary depending on the individual needs of the student. Students will be advised of the support services available to them through the publication of this policy in the Course Handbook and through published information in the organisation s marketing materials and on the organisation s website. Students wishing to access any support services should discuss this with their academic coordinator or call our office. ACCESS AND EQUITY AHRI encourages every adult member of the community to attend our courses. AHRI encourages indigenous people, people with disabilities, and those who live in remote areas to participate in training and education. AHRI has strategies in place to ensure we provide an accessible and equitable service to our clients. Alternative arrangements for assignment submission and student support are available where a student does not have internet access or where a student has a specific need that requires alternative arrangements. AHRI will ensure that all training venues are accessible to all participants, will modify learning and assessment strategies and adapt learning resources to meet the needs of individual learners. Access and equity means the policies and approaches to ensure AHRI s training and education services are responsive to the diverse needs of individual clients, including people who face barriers due to age, gender, cultural difference, disability, language, literacy and numeracy, unemployment, imprisonment or isolation and any other clients who are experiencing barriers in relation to access, participation and outcomes. We are committed to enabling all students to have an equal opportunity to develop skills, advance their careers and balance work and personal commitments. A discrimination free learning environment is the responsibility of all our staff. This can be accessed at any time during the course and provides a real time record of student assignment results. Whilst not an official transcript, the online record can be printed to allow for students to have a hard copy of their results at any time. At the conclusion of your study you will receive a Record of Achievement. STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a student, you are encouraged not to offend or threaten any other person, nor do anything to place any other person in danger. Also, you are encouraged not to harass, victimise or embarrass other people. You must also follow directions of workplace health and safety practices and adhere to directions given by academic coordinators and AHRI staff. As a student you have a right to be free from any form of discrimination and /or harassment. You have a right to have your learning needs recognised and addressed by the academic coordinator, and have a competent academic coordinator who assist you to achieve the expected course outcome. It is your right to have your privacy and confidentiality respected. You are able to access a fair system to help with appeals, complaints and grievances. You are entitled to flexible learning and assessment procedures to cater to your individual differences in learning styles, learning interests and needs, and variations in learning opportunities. You have the right to information about AHRI s student policies and procedures. You are entitled to timely access to current and accurate records of your participation and progress.
