2 BACKGROUND INFORMATION Wereld Kanker Onderzoek Fonds Stichting Wereld Kanker Onderzoek Fonds (WKOF) was founded in 1994 and is the only Dutch charity dedicated to the prevention of cancer. Our vision is to help people make choices that reduce their chances of developing cancer. From this vision our mission was born to: - Fund research on the relationship of nutrition, physical activity and weight management to cancer risk; - Interpret the accumulated scientific literature in the field; - Educate and inform people about the choices they can make to reduce their chances of developing cancer. Through research we have revolutionized the understanding about the prevention of cancer. Learning more about the link between nutrition and lifestyle and the risk of cancer is essential to our mission. Knowledge makes us stronger against cancer. Another crucial part of our mission is adapting scientific research into simple and easy to follow health information. Our goal is that this information will help people make informed lifestyle choices that could reduce their chances of developing cancer and help them to live healthy lives free from cancer. Our pioneering work has made a major contribution in focusing attention on the link between cancer and the choices people make about nutrition and lifestyle. Wereld Kanker Onderzoek Fonds is a member of the WCRF Global Network The World Cancer Research Fund global network is an international alliance of organisations dedicated to the prevention and control of cancer through healthy diets and lifestyles. The network comprises World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRF International), an umbrella association based in the UK, and its member organisations - national charities based in different countries. Current members of our network operate in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. We believe that greater impact can be achieved when allied organisations work together. The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) global network, of which WKOF is a part, is dedicated to revolutionising our understanding of cancer prevention. Together we fight to turn the tide of increasing cancer cases, and we work towards making our vision reality. 2

Our goal is that this information will help people make informed lifestyle choices that could reduce their chances of developing cancer and help them to live healthy lives free from cancer. Objective of Post The Team Leader Health Information contributes to and is responsible for the execution of the health information strategy of WKOF and delivers high quality health promotion programmes that effectively target and address the health and lifestyle risks in relation to cancer. The post holder develops, implements, evaluates and improves health promotion / information programmes for different audiences through different channels. Place in the organisation The Team Leader Health Information reports directly to the Head of Communications and Health Information. The post holder works closely with and provides health information knowledge and resources to other departments of the organisation such as fundraising, communications and operations when required. In addition there will be liaison with other members of the WCRF global network. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. Developing health information policy Follows developments in the field of health promotion and advises the Head of Communications and Health Information on policy. Develops health information policy in close coordination with the Head of Communications and Health Information. Evaluates the used policy and makes proposals for improvement. Result: Policy has been drafted, so that it contributes to formulating clear and specific objectives for the health promotion areas. 2. Collecting information Stays informed about internal and external developments. Therefore maintains active contact with internal and external stakeholders. Analyses information for the drafting of texts and images and selects compelling topics, in coordination with the Head of Communications and Health Information. Maintains contact with staff members regarding contributions to the writing of texts. Result: information is collected, so that all health information and education contain full, compelling and current information. 3

4 3. Execution and coordination of health information policy Developes messages and materials that will enhance public awareness and acceptance of WKOF and its approach to cancer prevention. Coordinates, develops, plans, produces and delivers all health information materials including newsletters, booklets, leaflets and health aids designed to educate various target audiences about the dietary and lifestyle choices that can reduce cancer risk. Oversees the planning, development and implementation of health information outreach programmes including seminars, special conferences, children's/schools programmes and the marketing of new ventures. Maintains and develops the health information sections of WKOF website.. Develops and manages corporate relations with relevant and like-minded organisations. Reviews all health information materials and ensures that the correct procedures are carried out for all programmes. Responsible for the accuracy, consistency and effective expression of all public statements; maintains standards of excellence in all written statements and corporate identity. Provides health information knowledge and resources to all corporate publications including the annual report, auxiliary reports, fundraising materials and corporate brochures. Reports on the progress of the health information department on a periodic basis. Result: Policy implementation is achieved and coordinated, so that it contributes to achieving the objectives of the health information department. The health information department operates efficiently and effectively. 4. Managing the health information team Lead, direct and motivate the health information team. Support the development of projects (including cross-departmental projects). Manages employees by checking the quality and quantity of the work performance and to guide, instruct, coach and motivate employees where necessary. Ensure the implementation of the established human resource policy, for example appraisal and assessment interviews with the employees concerned. Mapping out development and training opportunities for the staff. Detects problems and risks in the internal environment and bottlenecks in work processes. Ensures that problems are solved and unnecessary risks are avoided. Acts as point of contact for employees with questions and problems. Result: Health Information team executes projects according to plans and timelines effectively and efficiently. 5. Other responsibilities Works on other areas as directed by management. Result: Ad hoc challenges of the health information department are addressed promptly and professionally. PERSON SPECIFICATION Knowledge and Skills Minimum HBO thinking and working level. Excellent grasp of written and spoken Dutch and a keen eye for detail. Good knowledge of the English language. Excellent communication skills. Experience in implementing and monitoring corporate identity styles. 4

5 Experience of writing and producing high quality materials, corporate publications and or web content. A feel for image and design to support and enhance copy. Excellent networker. Genuine interest and commitment to healthy living, health promotion and health related organisations. Affinity with the non-profit sector is a plus. BENEFITS INFORMATION Annual leave The WKOF holiday (annual leave) year runs from 1 st January to 31 st December. Annual entitlement for full-time staff (at 37.5 hour week) is in relation to length of service: - Less than 1 year of service at the start of the New Year: 25 days - From 1 to 2 years in service at the start of the New Year: 26 days - From 3 to 4 years in service at the start of the New Year: 28 days - From 5 years' service at the start of the New Year: 30 days Pension scheme We have a voluntary pension scheme available. Employees contribute 2% of their pensionable earnings and employers contribute 4% of their pensionable earnings for a total of 6%. Accident insurance We cover all employees for accidents equal to 2 times their annual salary with a maximum of on death and 4 times their annual salary with a maximum of for permanent disability resulting from an accident. Private healthcare We offer a fixed compensation for healthcare of employees. The compensation is 28,67 gross per full time employment. Travel benefit Any distance travelled over 7km to work is reimbursed to the employee at a rate of 0,19 per km. Business travel insurance All employees travelling for business are covered under WKOF s business travel insurance, which covers cost of illness, accident or death, travel including computer equipment. Core Business Hours The core business hours are from 9:30am till 4:45pm when all employees must be present. Employees may arrive for work between 8:30am and 9.30am and leave between 4:45am and 5:45pm. A 45-minute lunch should be taken. Holiday pay 8% of salary Employees have the right to an annual holiday allowance of 8% of their gross annual salary. 6
