The fundamental purpose of an internship is to provide the student with practical experiences and an opportunity to enhance skills through active participations and involvement, direct exposure and engagement in a variety of functions. The student will work closely with department leadership and other staff members to prepare for a career in healthcare or volunteer management. The Volunteer Services Intern will support the goals of the Mission Volunteer Program. Priority will be given to the Junior Volunteer Program whose goals are to offer teens an introduction to careers, to prepare teens for the professional workplace and to develop a life-long commitment to service and volunteerism. Preferred Experience: Preferred Skills: Currently and successfully working toward an Associate s Degree in Human Resources, Human Services, Education, Healthcare Administration or a related field. Currently and successfully working toward a Bachelor s Degree in Human Resources, Human Services, Education, Healthcare Administration or a related field. Preference is given to students of University of North Carolina Asheville, Mars Hill College or Warren Wilson College. At least one year experience as a participant in structured volunteer program. 2 Program Assistant Parking and Shuttle Services The Parking and Shuttle Services Assistant will provide a broad range of administrative and program support to the Manager of Parking and Shuttle Services. Duties will include: 1. Conducting research to determine best, and/or common place practices for parking and shuttle operations at hospital or healthcare facilities. 2. Coordinate marketing, outreach, and implementation for alternative transportation programs. The position entails planning and coordinating communications, including promotions, to inform employees and patients/visitors about parking, shuttle, or other transportation programs at Mission Hospital.] 3. Coordinate data entry for both the valet and shuttle parking programs; interpret data and make recommendations for program improvements. 4. Provide clerical support for the program, including timely distribution of information and materials, regularly updating programs databases and website, and monitoring program supply inventories. 5. Assist in the development and implementation of incentive programs, special events, and surveys. 6. Assist Manager of Parking and Shuttle Services with administrative duties and performs other related duties as required. Intern Learning Objectives: Intern will: 1. Learn to work within a team and to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors 2. Learn to develop a comprehensive marketing campaign across social media platforms 3. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the organization by communicating with internal and external customers through various forms of communication, phone calls, correspondence, interoffice communication during team meetings and written reports. Must have strong computer skills including some knowledge of database management, word processing, and spreadsheet development. Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must be able to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Knowledge of commuter transportation and/or parking industry is highly desirable. Preferred Experience: Some knowledge of commuter transportation and/or parking industry is highly desirable. See above. Digital Media Communications Internship The Digital Media Communications Intern is a valued member of the Marketing & Communications team at Mission Health. Working in tandem with the digital media/marketing & communications teams, this internship will curate content for the newly launched Mission Health blog, enews and other digital channels, and assist in engaging the organization s stakeholders (patients/consumers and their families, caregivers and community) through digital mediums best reflecting the services of Mission Health. This internship will assist in making all digital forms of media transactional and trackable, and find ways to leverage digital assets as a valuable educational service.

3 Excellent Communication abilities, including spoken & written communication, creative writing skills, and experience interviewing, drafting and editing content. Social Media and web content experience highly preferred. Preferred Experience: High School Diploma with progression toward two, four-year, and/or graduate degree Pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, new media, information technology, graphic design, marketing or public relations, creative writing, or English strongly preferred. N/A InDesign, Adobe Flash, HTML, and Video Production experience are preferred but not required. Blogging, Social Media management, CMS experience, and Writing for web & SEO. InDesign, Adobe Flash, HTML, and Video Production experience are preferred but not required. SEO, Web Design, Blog Management. Information Technology (IT) Service Desk Internship This intern will have the chance to see how Information Technology works within a healthcare environment through being a member of the Service Desk, assisting with customer calls, possible projects and shadowing other areas of technology services. More specifically, the intern will be responsible for high quality end-user technical support, related to enterprise software and hardware. Responsibilities include assessment, triage, research, and resolution of incidents and requests regarding the use of application software products and/or infrastructure components in a fast paced 7x24x365 environment. The position requires attention to detail, follow through, teamwork focus and positive attitude. In addition, an understanding of technology and the ability to apply that knowledge to support all existing systems and/or implement new systems that directly benefit the patient-care, education, research and/or business functions of the health system. The IT Service Desk intern will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with a wide range of healthcare professionals, service areas and professions. They will exercise interpersonal skills, organization and use of technology. Internship is unpaid, but department will pay any student onboarding costs. OUR VISION: MyHealthyLife provides everyday wellness support to promote positive lifestyle change for our community. INTERNSHIP DUTIES: Develop projects related to wellness Move with Mission campaign. Determine the details needed to implement the projects complete with timeline and resources needed. Communicate details of the projects to team members connected with implementation. Maintain quality communication with Mission staff connected with projects while ing and calling to get information. Work with the supervisor to ensure that projects are in line with the intended goals. Learning Objectives: Learn the process of developing projects related to programming. Know the facets to be addressed when developing programming like, setting a strategic goal, timeline, prioritizing and assessment. Learn about how to develop effective wellness engagement through quality programming. Learn about your strengths and how to leverage them to be more effective. Learn basic office skills, such as setting up meetings and creating agendas, conference calling, , etc to help the student learn skills necessary to complete future job functions QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for interns with an interest in health and wellness and nutrition. Strong writing and communication skills required. Interns should be research-savvy, detail oriented individuals who are comfortable with public speaking and working in a fast paced environment. Performance/Quality Improvement Intern Educational Internship The Performance/Quality Improvement Intern will work with Performance Improvement team members in a Healthcare setting to improve Patient Outcomes, Quality, Safety, and Experience. During this time, interns will be given the opportunity to learn and apply Performance improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma/Data Analytics, Direct Observations, Process Mapping, and Change Management. Interns will be given the opportunity to work on their own Improvement project, applying learned methodologies. The Internship program provides individuals, typically current students, an opportunity to utilize the education, knowledge and experiences acquired during their undergraduate or graduate education in a healthcare setting.
