4 HP ilo Vide Player Using HP ilo Vide Player HP ilo Vide Player enables yu t playback ilo 2 cnsle capture files withut installing ilo 2 n yur lcal system. ilo Vide Player is designed as a typical media player with similar cntrls. Yu can run ilo Vide Player as a standalne applicatin n either a server r client. Typically, the applicatin is lcated n the client. ilo 2 capture files are created using ilo 2 Cnsle Capture feature, see "Using Cnsle Capture (n page 5)." T use ilo Vide Player, yu must have a Micrsft Windws 2000, Windws XP, r Windws Vista perating systems, and Internet Explrer (versin 6 r later) installed n yur system. ilo Vide Player user interface When yu launch HP ilo Vide Player, the user interface appears and serves as the cntrl pint fr all playback functins. ilo Vide Player menu ptins: File HP ilo Vide Player 4

5 Cntrls Help Open Opens a vide capture file. Exit Clses the ilo Vide Player. Play Plays r restart the current vide capture file. Stp Stp playback f the current vide capture file. Skip t Start Restarts playback f the current vide capture file. Change Speed Changes playback speed f the current ilo vide capture file. Help Tpics Opens the ilo Vide Player help file. Abut Opens the ilo Vide Player Abut page. ilo Vide Player cntrls Cntrl Name Functin Play/Pause Starts playback if the currently selected file is nt playing r is paused. If playback is in prgress, it pauses the file. If n file is selected, the buttn is disabled. Stp Skip t Start Seek Stps playback. If n file is selected, the buttn is disabled. Restarts playback frm the beginning f the file. If n file is selected, the buttn is disabled. Mves the playback vide frward r backward. If n file is selected, the buttn is disabled. Change Speed Changes the playback speed f the currently selected file. The available playback speeds are 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x. The speeds are cycled thrugh with successive presses in the fllwing rder: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, and 1x. If n file is selected, the buttn is disabled. File Psitin Displays the time parameters f the currently selected file and appears as in a HH:MM:SS frmat. The left time n the left indicates the current playback psitin f the file. The time n the right indicates the ttal playback time f the file. Using Cnsle Capture Cnsle Capture is a Remte Cnsle feature that enables yu t recrd and replay a vide stream f events such as bting, ASR events, and sensed perating system faults. Cnsle Capture is nly available thrugh the ilo 2 user interface and cannt be accessed thrugh XML scripting r the CLP. Cnsle Capture is a licensed feature available with the purchase f ptinal licenses. 6 A buffer area is set aside in the management prcessr t stre captured vide data. This buffer area is shared with the firmware update buffer, s any infrmatin captured is lst when yu start the firmware update prcess. Yu cannt capture vide data during the firmware update prcess. Buffer space is limited. Only ne f each type f event is stred in the buffer area at a time. T replay, transfer the captured data buffers t a client running the IRC r ilo Vide Player fr replay. Yu can als cnfigure ilo 2 t autmatically send captured vide data t a web server n the same netwrk as the ilo 2 when an event ccurs. The web server must accept POST-methd data transfers. Yu can select Bt buffer nly, Fault buffer, r cmbine them bth as ne large buffer t have mre rm t capture Linux bt sequences. Exprted buffer data is given a unique name t easily identify the data fr playback. Playback requires a licensed ilo 2 n the netwrk. Sme perating systems (such as Linux) can fill the buffer quickly. If yu leave the system cnsle in text mde, it helps maximize the amunt f infrmatin captured. Als, clsing r reducing the number f active graphical cnsle elements helps ptimize internal buffer space. T manually capture vide f the server cnsle, use Recrd (camera icn) n the IRC. Press Recrd t display a Save dialg bx enabling yu t specify the file name and the lcatin t save the current recrding sessin. During a recrding sessin, Recrd appears active and changes t green. While enabled, any server cnsle activity appearing n the Integrated Remte Cnsle is saved t the file specified. If yu click Recrd during a recrding sessin, the recrding sessin stps and returns the Recrd buttn t the nrmal unpressed state. All manually captured data is stred in a lcal file n the client fr later playback. Licensing HP ilo Vide Player is available with all versins f ilo 2; hwever, creating capture files using Cnsle Capture requires an ilo Advanced r ilo Advanced Pack fr Blade System license. 7 Trubleshting Vide capture file des nt play Verify that the file is a valid HP ilo 2 capture and is nt crrupted. Vide capture file plays erratically ilo 2 capture files are recrdings f screen activity. During lng perids f screen inactivity, the recrded inactivity is truncated t reduce file size and imprve playback perfrmance. This can cause the playback t appear t start and stp, r play erratically.
