3 What's New Sitecre 6.6 Features Native MVC Supprt Sitecre 6.6 intrduces native supprt fr MVC and allws yu t use ASP.NET MVC as a rendering engine in Sitecre. While sme supprt fr ASP.NET MVC was available in earlier versins, Sitecre 6.6 prvides access t much mre ASP.NET MVC 3 functinality. Sitecre s MVC slutin requires.net Framewrk 4 and Micrsft ASP.NET MVC 3. Yu must enable MVC supprt as it is disabled by default t prevent yu encuntering prblems if yu are running n earlier versin f the.net Framewrk. In Sitecre, MVC supprt is mainly pipeline driven and prvides a pwerful, flexible, and extendable API fr cntrlling the rendering prcess. Device Simulatr In the Page Editr, cntent authrs can nw see what the webpages they are wrking n will lk like n several different mbile devices. T preview a page in the Device Simulatr: 1. 4 Sitecre CMS 6.6 & DMS In the Simulatr grup, click the drp-dwn arrw and then select a device. The device simulatr mimics the devices and the preview is nt a pixel-perfect renditin f the website as it appears n each device. Hwever, it gives yu a gd indicatin f hw the device presents the website and allws cntent authrs t quickly see hw their pages lk n these different mbile devices. In the simulatr, yu can navigate thrugh the website, rtate the pages, as well as scrll vertically and hrizntally. Page Previewer The Page Previewer cmplements the device simulatr by enabling yu t preview webpages in different brwsers. The Page Previewer lets yu see hw yur web pages lk n different versins f all the majr internet brwsers Internet Explrer, Firefx, Chrme, and Safari. Yu can test the pages any time t make sure the web design lks as intended in yur custmers brwsers. The page preview service is delivered by Litmus. This service is nly available by subscriptin frm the Sitecre App Center. Yu can subscribe directly frm the Page Editr ribbn when yu are in Preview mde. 5 What's New In the Page Editr yu can nw: Use the Analyze grup t assign cntent prfiles t cntent items. See wrkflw cmmands in a ntificatin bar and use it t mve items thrugh a wrkflw. Use the Mve Page cmmand n the ribbn t mve pages. Use the Delete Page buttn n ribbn t remve pages. The functinality that is available in the flating tlbar has been extended t include: The Set Assciated Cntent dialg that enables yu t select cntent t use as a data surce. Adding new cmmands t the flating tlbar. Fr example, yu can add Srt the cntent t the flating tlbar. The Srt the cntent cmmand enables yu t change the rder f cntent items. Executive Insight Dashbard Imprvements The Executive Insight Dashbard fr Sitecre CMS 6.6 runs n Silverlight 5. There is a new UI, new ways t navigate and imprved search fr campaigns but all the ther functinality f the dashbard remains much the same as befre. Changes and new features in the dashbard include: Imprved UI design, layut and clr scheme. New timeline and reslutin cntrls. Single days and perids f incmplete data are nw available. A new caching plicy plus the availability f a single day reslutin means that yu click the Relad data buttn t refresh data instantly. The dashbard cntains Help text n individual charts and fr the dashbard as a whle. Shw r hide the trend table n all charts and right click charts t drill dwn. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Executive Dashbard Ckbk. Supprt fr SQL Server Database Mirrring Sitecre 6.6 supprts SQL Server database mirrring and failver. Implement this strategy t increase the availability f yur Sitecre databases. Als, in the event f a disaster, yu can use autmatic failver t quickly bring a standby cpy f yur database back nline. Database mirrring transfers transactin lg recrds directly frm ne server t anther (between the Principal and Mirrr instance) and can quickly fail ver t the standby server. T set up database mirrring with autmatic failver yu need at least three database server instances; a principal, a mirrr and a witness. Yu need strng SQL Server skills as yu need t perfrm a large part f the set up and cnfiguratin in SQL Server but there are als sme imprtant steps yu need t fllw in Sitecre t set up and cnfigure database mirrring and failver. Using Separate Databases fr Cllecting and Reprting Sitecre 6.6 supprts the use f separate databases fr cllecting data and fr reprting. This implementatin imprves the perfrmance f bth writing data t the database and extracting data frm the database. Yu must install an SSIS package and set up a SQL Server Agent Scheduled Jb that runs peridically and transfers data frm the cllectin t reprting database. Other Features The ther features intrduced in Sitecre 6.6 include: Sitecre has been upgraded t Lucene.NET Dictinary imprvements the intrductin f dictinary dmains imprves the dictinary functinality in Sitecre and allws yu t define as many separate dictinaries in a slutin as yu wish. Yu can create dictinary dmain flders anywhere in the cntent tree and in any database thereby allwing yu t cnfigure the lcatin f the dictinary fr multisite slutins. The Sitecre Archive and Recycle Bin nw supprt archiving, recycling, and restring f item versins. Since the release f Sitecre 6.5 Update 4, Sitecre has supprted the use f separate databases fr cllecting data and fr reprting.
