1 The American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) is a professional society devoted to the advancement of the plant sciences. It publishes two world-class journals and organizes conferences and other activities that are critical to the advancement of plant science. ASPB plays a key role in uniting the international plant science disciplines. Mission Statement ASPB was founded in 1924 to promote the growth and development of plant biology, to encourage and publish research in plant biology, and to promote the interests and growth of plant scientists in general. Over the decades, the Society has evolved and expanded to provide a forum for molecular and cellular biology as well as to serve the basic interests of plant science. 2 Statistics Online Journal In 2013, we had 3.3 million site visits (up from 3 million in 2012) from ~1.7 million individuals who spent an average of 2.2 minutes on the site. The country with the single highest number of visitors in 2013 was the United States, with ~721,000, followed by China with 397,000 and India with 268,000. A third of the visitors were in the age demographic, and the male/female ratio was 54%/46%. When viewed by continent, Asia had the highest usage, with over a million visits. Here is a breakdown of 2013 pageviews by continent: Traffic Sources The majority (70%) of site traffic comes through generic Google searches. Below is a breakdown of site traffic by entry source. The first term is the source, and the second refers to the medium. Possible media include organic (unpaid search), cpc (cost per click, i.e., paid search), referral (referral), and none (direct visits have a medium of none ). The (direct)/(none) entry includes links that are not recognized by Google Analytics, such as bookmarks or links found in etocs and PaP alerts. This is the first year that an image-based search engine (Imgur) has made the list. Mobile Access Since launching the mobile-optimized journal site in October 2011, there have been over 125,000 pageviews via mobile device. According to Google Analytics, ipad users accounted for the vast majority of visits. ipad users interact with the regular online journal site rather than the mobile-optimized site. Tablet and smartphone users are redirected to the mobile site.

3 Plant Physiology Established in 1926, Plant Physiology is an international journal devoted to physiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, genetics, biophysics, and environmental biology of plants. Plant Physiology is one of the world s oldest and most well-respected international plant science journals, with the most citations of any journal in the plant sciences. Readership Worldwide readership consists of plant scientists who work in such diverse areas as academia, government laboratories, and industrial and commercial environments. Students are also drawn to the publication. Readers share a common goal of promoting the growth, development, and outreach of plant biology as a pure and applied science. 4 The Plant Cell The Plant Cell publishes novel research of special significance in plant biology, especially in the areas of cellular biology, molecular biology, genetics, development, and evolution. The primary criterion for publication is new insight that is of broad interest to plant biologists, not only to specialists. The Plant Cell has the highest impact factor of all primary research journals in plant biology. Readership Worldwide readership consists of plant scientists who work in such diverse areas as academia, government laboratories, and industrial and commercial environments. 5 ASPB News ASPB News is the Society s popular bimonthly newsletter that reports on subjects including bioethics, public affairs, education, meetings, and people. This member publication reaches over 4,500 individuals and is a perfect vehicle for high-reach exposure for product, service, and recruitment advertising. Readership Worldwide readership consists of the ASPB members who work in such diverse areas as academia, government laboratories, and industrial and commercial environments.
