2 Intrductin The seminar n Prblems f Rad Transprt f Gds in Africa is part f the actin plan f the Wrld Rad Assciatin which requires all Technical Cmmittees t rganise at least tw seminars during the fur-year cycle. T this effect, the Camern Natinal Shippers Cuncil (CNSC) as member f Technical Cmmittee 2.3 Transprt f gds is will hst the abvementined seminar at Mnt Febe Htel in Yaunde, Camern frm 14 t 15 May Objective The seminar seeks amngst ther t: - Assess the ecnmic issues in the transprt f gds by rad in Africa; - Make an inventry f gds transprt crridrs; - underscre the imprtance f rad maintenance and the need t ptimise the transprt f gds by rad; - Address new funding fr rad infrastructure; - Explre the existing legal framewrk fr transprt f gds by rad. Languages The seminar will be cnducted English and French with free simultaneus interpretatin in the tw fficial languages (English and French). Field visit Brief descriptin f the field visit PIARC Special Fund The PIARC Special Fund can cver up t 100% f travel expenses r up t 100% f accmmdatin expenses f participants frm develping cuntries (lwer middle incme and lw incme cuntries). It can cver the expenses f ne participant per PIARC member cuntry, subject t the agreement f the First Delegate. Requests fr Special Fund shuld be sent t PIARC General Secretariat, inf@piarc.rg. Transprt service between htel and airprt The CNSC will meet participants at the Yaunde Nsimalen Internatinal Airprt and prvide transprt between the airprt and htels and between the htels and the venue f the seminar. General Infrmatin abut the Hst Cuntry The currency used in Camern is the CFA. Currency exchange is als available. The main currencies are the Eur and the US dllar. Mst cash dispensers accept the Visa and MasterCard. On entering int Camern internatinal vaccinatin certificates required by internatinal cnventins are required including vaccines against yellw fever and plimyelitis. 220V eclectic plugs and sckets are available and cmply with the French standard. Participants are advised t take alng adapters fr devices that d nt meet these standards. Running water is available. The climate in Camern is mderately warm with temperatures between 20 C at night and early in the mrning and 35 C during the day. Participants are advised t take alng apprpriate clthing. Transprtatin within Yaunde is by taxi whse rate range between 2000 and 3000 CFAF per hur. Rental cars are available frm car rental agencies and sme htels. Obtaining a visa Visas are issued at Camern diplmatic representatins r n arrival t thse hlding prir apprvals issued by the DGSN (General Delegatin fr Natinal Security). Participants frm CEMAC member cuntries and Nigeria d nt need visa t cme t Camern. The CNSC may send invitatin letters t participants n request. Registratin Registratin is free.
